Modern street couture gets an artsy makeover at this unassuming Culver City clothing shop.

Located in Culver City's art district, this compact corner shop first opened its doors in January 2007. The pared down, industrial setting--white walls, concrete floor, metal hanging rods--serves as a fine contrast to the colorful stacks of silkscreened T-shirts, handmade metallic cuffs, bold jewelry and one-of-a-kind skirts, dresses and blouses. Named after the clothing line started by store owner Gülbin Yavuz, Indie Collective also stocks pieces from a few other international designers and features a revolving roster of artwork from local artists.

Hits: Gülbin's enthusiasm for the creative arts is evident in each item carried in her store, whether it's the artwork from local artists or a $50 metallic leather cuff.

Misses: The shop is about the size of a living room, so it can get a bit claustrophobic at times.
