Perfect place for a date, special occasion, business dinner, or just hanging out with friends! Decor: colorful, classy, stylish - GORGEOUS!!! The designer did a fantastic job (I heard that he won some big award for it so that explains it.) Bar: 2 big screen TVs playing silent fashion shows Background music: lounge music (a la Lebanese Blond by Thievery Corporation) Cocktails at the bar: creative and unexpected. If you are a simple beer or pina-colada or apple martini kind of drinker then you won't like them. But if you are adventurous and open-minded - YUMMY!!! (They do have a nice selection of wines too.) Food: tasty and upscale. I'd call it Cali-Indian Fusion (it's definitely not your take-out Indian)! Service: very professional and courteous Entertainment: the maitre'd breaks out into Bollywood dancing every now and then - and he is actually really good! Nice fun touch! The 4 of us enjoyed every aspect of the experience and I've been telling all my other friends that they must go and give Tanzore a try! I personally can't wait to go back again, even if just for a drink at the bar!
Pros: Ambiance, cocktails, food, service
Cons: N/A

First of all, the food is a bit pricey but ITS L.A. FOR GOD SAKE!!! They are all pricey. To me, its worth it. I find it really hard to find a good indian restaurant in L.A. The food is amazing, amazing, amazing! So good. I've been here a few times and I've tried something new each time I loved it. One night we were there they had some Bollywood dancers in the dining room- how fun!! The bar is so beautiful with large projecters of Bollywood movies rolling. The pomegranite mojito is YUMMY. Friendly staff too.

Hey dont waste your time. This place could be fabulous . The service is very slow. If you are looking for great drinks you are better off at a 7 eleven. Over priced. If you think you are getting complimentary bread like other resturants, think again. Take a look at your bill and you will know very not so $8.00 a basket. I would suggest keep stepping.
Pros: beautiful place
Cons: slow and overpriced

FIRST! I want to know who these people are, according to LA Magazine's article on Best 75 restaurants, Tanzore being 1 of them, who want 'small plates.' As a petite, athletic foodie, I diet 90% of my life. When I go out to eat, I want to eat. I don't want a small plate of anything, especially when I'm paying the kind of prices this place charges! While it's true the decor is fabulous, and we were welcomed by a friendly Maitre d', and our waitress was sweet, I can't say anything other than how expensive it was for such mediocre food! They charge for EVERYTHING they put on your table (sans the plates & utensils). Our bill was $103 with tax: 1 appetizer ($15), a basket of assorted but flavorless naan ($5), assorted chutneys ($5), chicken saag ($18), Chicken Tikka Makhani ($18), assorted sorbets ($8), Tanzortini ($15) and another fancy drink ($11). The ingredients were fresh but everything was bland. The Tiger prawns (3) appetizer ("marinated in roasted chickpea flour, carom seeds, yogurt and oven roasted vegetables") was spicy yet flavorless which I realize seems contradictory; however, the veggies were very good. The naan, as I said, was flavorless, as was 1 of the 3 chutneys, and my friend, who rarely agrees with me, agreed with me. Since I don't eat dairy or fish, I was told there's nothing on the menu I could have! I asked if they could make me chicken saag with oil instead of butter and they were accommodating except that despite asking for spicy, it was bland. And flavorless. I didn't taste my friend's Chicken Tikka but he seemed to like it. I really wanted to like this place. I wanted to like it because I'm offended by hip LA restaurants that don't deliver and only disappoint. And I wanted to be wrong. Except I wasn't.

my friends and i were looking to this birthday dinner the whole week but soon after we were seated it was apparent we would be dissapointed. we ordered our cocktails as soon as we were seated but it took nearly 25 minutes for them to arrive-well after the appetizers were served!! we decided to order for the table and share different food so we ordered 2 each of the lamb, prawns, sea bass and chicken tikka masala. we were told food is genereally mild unless ordered spicy-we ordered 1 of the fish spicy (at no time did our waiter advise againt that). big mistake! both bass dishes were so spicy all you could taste was bitterness. so we complained to the waiter and asked for a milder order. very soon a frowning managered appeared at our table acting like an inquistor--pointing his finger and demanding "but did you order it spicy?" time and time again refusing to accomodate us. needless to say this put a damper on our mood and we didnt stay for tea or desserts. although the food was otherwise ok, it was highly overpriced and the servie and managment were so terrible that i would never go back.
Pros: none
Cons: bad service, overpriced

I admit that before entering this place, it already had a strike against it. We originally had reservations at 7:30 for 4 people, but when we wanted to add one person, they said we had to move our reservations to 8:30. Ultimately we settled on our original reservations – but when we arrived for dinner, there was only one other party in the entire restaurant. Actually, throughout our entire dinner (2 hours), there were 2 to 4 other tables dining at the most. It was very frustrating that they couldn’t be more accommodating, especially when they were clearly being deceptive about how “busy” they were. To be fair, the interior and the service were lovely. In fact, our server even offered to take my valet ticket out to get my car because it was cold, which was really going beyond the call of duty. Unfortunately, those were the only really good things about the place. The food was simply disappointing. Moreover, the servings were tiny. Even in LA we don't want elf-sized food. Anyways, we had the following: 1. goan crab tikki - crab cakes with crab chutney and mustard seeds. This was ok, but the batter overwhelmed the crab a bit. 2. trio of chicken tikka - each piece was marinated in a different flavor. one was marinated in green herbs, another in some pink peppercorn and a third in asparagus. The chicken was a bit dry …3. garlic naan - this was warm and actually quite good; but each serving had only 2 pieces. I think they noticed our disappointment because they quickly added 2 more pieces to our basket. 4. tandoori chicken - nothing spectacular. 5. masala chicken curry – this was the one I ordered and was quite yummy (but I do love my curry!) 6. saag paneer (spinach with cheese) – this was a bit bland, and I’ve had better in divey places. 7. chicken tikka mahkani – this was ok. 7. trio of indian desserts - none of which were good or barely edible. I wish I had liked this place better and I'm shocked at the great reviews. Did I just go on an off night?
Pros: Great Service; Nice Decor
Cons: Overpriced, Mediocre Food

I had a friend come up from San Diego and she's a huge foodie, so I was very excited to take her to Tanzore, which had won awards for the design and whose food came highly recommended. We arrived to find they had lost our reservation, and Joe, the maitre-D (I suppose?) was extremely rude about it, saying there was nothing available and offered no apology, nothing. Finally, after the only male in the group went up to complain for the third time about how poor their hospitality was, we were finally "squeezed in" and sat down by the snooty maitre-D, still no apology for their mistake of loosing our reservation. Finally, the food came and was simply OK. The tandori chicken was dry, the scallops fishy. The only decent dish was the lamb briyani, which was made in traditional Indian style, we might as well have gone to a traditional Indian restaurant for a third of the price. I do not recommend this place at all.

We chose to dine during lunch hour thinking that there would be specials offered.. the prices were high and the portions were... a joke. I left the establishment hungry (I ordered appatizer, lunch and dessert) and it cost me (two of us) $100 on a lunch. Not worth it.
Pros: nice ambience
Cons: price, quantity
