Let me preface this review with this being the first time I have ever written a review, and secondly I am in the industry. My mother (from San Antonio) is in Hollywood with three friends celebrating her birthday. She and her friends (at the last minute) made reservations at Beso tonight before going to see the play Wicked, so I call to try to take care of their bill as a birthday surprise. I called three seperate times trying to get to a person as all you can get is answering machine hell. On the fourth try I got a hostess at the front door, she could not have been more helpful!! Very accomodating, understood what I was trying to do and was trying very much to help me (even though it was about 9:00pm) and you could hear the restaurant was busy!! She put me on hold and while trying to find the reservation the manager on duty picked up the line. He started the conversation introducing himself and then quite rudely proceeded to tell me he had been made aware of the situation and that if I wanted to pay for someone's dinner I could only set that up ahead of time, because I would need to fax Beso a copy of my drivers licence a front and back copy of my credit card and a signiture to match, blah blah blah, oh and there is no one in the office in the evenings so "no one can help you at this time".

Here are my issues: 1. Managers should be as empathetic as hostess, never say no to a guest or a future guest 2. Have a live person answering phones 3. No access to a fax machine?? very hard to believe

Very dissapointing experience.

Gina

Very very overpriced, very ordinary food (the fish and steaks are very fresh) but that is about it...the flatbread was burned, the side dishes came 5-7 minutes after the main dish and the vegetables were raw inside and the asparagus was terrible...the fries was COLD...way way way too expensive..don't waste your money.

  • Pros: very beautiful decor
  • Cons: way too overpriced

I had an amazing time at Kiss with me and my ladies! The door guys were courteous (of course, we looked the part ;D ), the bartenders were generous, and the DJ's didn't mind the millions of requests we sent his way. LOL! I'd recommend this place to anyone. Maybe I'll see you there sometime! I'll be the hot blonde in the middle of the mob of dancing hotties!

  • Pros: Good looking crowd
  • Cons: Few, music perhaps a little blaring (still good tho)

As your primary network, UC Riverside will appear next to your name for people on other networks. You'll also see UC Riverside people first in searches.

We went for my friend's b-day, the place is nice, but the food was not good at all. My tortilla soup was cold, the "soup" was really thick, more like a sauce. My friend order a wine, the waitress who was really clueless took forever to bring it and he also order a side of asparragus which never came. I don't mind paying those prices, but at least it should be good food and a nice experience. I wouldn't recommend this place. The chef/sous chef should learn how to prepare a real tortilla soup (they have the wrong idea).

  • Pros: Place is well decorated
  • Cons: Food & service is terrible

Beso is really beautiful inside and I saw Tom Green the night I was there, which was cool. However, i was not super impressed by the food. The french fries were soggy, the serving sizes were small and the Paella was fair at best. If you are looking for great ambience (and have a lot of cash to spare) this is the place to go, but don't expect superior food.

  • Pros: nice decor; good service
  • Cons: food was just ok

I don't mind paying top dollar for top quality, but this place is awful...The food is better at a taco stand while service is embarrassing and the valet is nowhere to be found

  • Pros: decor
  • Cons: food, service and parking

Todd English, yet another East Coast chef gone westward, has enlisted the help of Eva Longoria to give his famous Olives restaurant a Spanish twist both in flavor and name--"beso" is the Spanish word for "kiss." The two-story space, opened in 2007, is just what one would expect from a Hollywood hot spot: Huge sparkly chandeliers, twinkling candlelit tables and lots of girls in halter tops. The menu features Latin-tinged fare like shrimp-and-chorizo flatbread, seafood paella, chili-rubbed steak and a slew of unusual tacos, but the real reason sceney types flock here (aside from the Longoria connection) is the adult juice bar--a glammed-up lounge where mixologists whip up signature cocktails like the Blueberry Patch (gin, St. Germain, fresh limeade and blueberries) and C Clearly martini, a concoction of Domaine de Canton, vodka, carrot juice and fresh orange juice.

The waiter was clueless. Slow and out of it. He was confused about the wine list. He did not put in most of our order. Basically, he was an alien from another planet that landed at Beso and did not know what he was doing there. Very fustrating for such a nice place to have awful service.

  • Pros: nice food
  • Cons: awful service
