INCREDIBLE RESTAURANT! Very pleasing to the senses! We have traveled the world in search of "Best of Sushi" We have all come to the UNANIMOUS decision that the west coast has a new Winner! Takami transcends the discriminate to a whole new platform. Takami is tasting sushi- the way sushi should be Experienced. The mouth-watering Filet Fois Gras...the Lemony Lemon-Albacore...the Blissful Japanese Taco...Who knew we were going to have our senses "Elevated". Please do not go to this restaurant unless you are open to a new experience. The management has done a wonderful job at carving out a top notch staff. The staff really know how to make your experience the "Best of Sushi" . The Decor to be envied...the open air restaurant takes your breath away with every bite...and the sushi...No one on the west coast does better than mr. yamada! The chef came to our table to tell us about his newly created specials, and asked us what we thought. We were astounded by the price! Alot of mouth-pleasing sushi for a really low price. If you can't make it to Japan to taste sushi...Takami is the next best experience! And yes, the chefs are really Japanese! Say hello to manager Frank, bartender Sasanna, and server Emily when you're there. Again, this is Tony James from Sacramento's SushiWorldTravelor writing another experience-tested review. Look for our next review about Manhattan Beach's "Sashi Sushi" coming soon!

Went to Takami for the first time last week and it was their anniversary. I can't believe I just heard about this place. It's at the top of a high rise in downtown with awesome views and good food. It's about the same price as most sushi places (about $40/person). I am going back for sure.

Pros: Food and View

Cons: Far from home

I just stumbled into this place in an awkward office building in Downtown. Once we got up there and the world changed. Felt like we were blasted to New York. We have been back 3 times in the last month. The food, service, and people are great. The prices are a little more than the Kabuki's out there, but the food is not comparable. Now, we can't go back to our usual sushi spot since we crave Takami's edamame, crisy rice, and lemony roll. I would recommend the place and at least the items we are adicted to. Enjoy...

Pros: View, food, and service

Cons: Long waits on weekends

food is ok for a sushi place...that being said, the hostesses are RUDE, NOT GRACIOUS, NOT WELCOMING. (unless maybe u look like someone who can get them fired bc ur so important) anyway once u get in they won't say hi to u the way a normal restaurant will, those snobby (i dont know what they're so snobby about? theyre working as hotesses and wearing outfits from forever21...no offense, i wear it too but i dont act like a snobby princess if im in customer service) girls just stand there and look u up and down til u say ud like to be seated. If you go for happy hour, try to sit at the bar, the bartenders are so much nicer than the other staff. I'd say one of the female servers is polite, and the male servers that bring the food out of the kitchen all look stoned (and not in the fun way....in the I HATE THIS PLACE AND I DONT WANT TO BE HERE way) otherwise it's not worth it to eat in the "lounge" for happy hour, it's not comfortable, it's mostly for "socializing" and u dont get to sit at a table like a normal human being to eat...i know its part of the ambience, and yes u are paying 4 dollars instead of 8 dollars for ok sushi, but i still say if u want to sit at a table and its available, u should be able to! p.s. i think i got the same unattractive, "big" hostess, i only write this bc she was wearing a very not classy, short, very revealing dress that looked more appropriate for a cheap club, and not an upscale restaurant. I'd only go back if I wasn't paying. Otherwise, I prefer Kabuki for cheap happy hour sushi :D

Pros: view

Cons: bad service, overpriced

This is the first bad review I've ever written, how sad that it had to be about a place that could be "elevated" to a higher standard. We had no reservation but figured on a Thursday at 7pm we'd be fine. We waited half an hour for this horrble tiny table in the way of traffic. The oversized hostess should have realized there is no way anyone would eat there comfortable. I am not trying to be mean or ill tempered but they are so under my expectations that I just cannot hold back. The food was delicious but have they not heard that it is a faux pau to allow your client to wait 15-20 minutes between appetizer meals to be served? Service was slow, servers kept serving our orders to the couple next to us. Would not go back. It really is a shame considering the food was wonderful. Another suggestion: you're on the 21st floors in the evning and you don't pull your blinds up? Nothing but stupidity can justify that.

Pros: Food

Cons: Horrible service, long wait in seating and being served, funky crowd

the place is well done, may be some people call it old fashion but to me it was nice decoration, food is good but expensive, don't get me wrong I do pay for good food but here you don't get for what you pay. the biggest trun off for this place would be the Hostess, and she is the only reason I won't back there any more. She didn't greet any guest, slightly rude and even with reservation we had to wait for 45:00 to be seated, what's the point to get reservation if you have to wait any way. the other problem would be outside sitting, the way that setting is you don't get that much of view that you are expecting. but in general I recommend to experince this place, it's well done

Pros: Setting

Cons: Hostess, she is terrible

We just went in tonight and took a very important client out for dinner at Takami. I very rarely feel the need to write a review, but our experience was truely 5 stars. The associates in our office have been raving about Takami and tonight I found out why. The staff impressed my client, the view is amazing, and the atmoshere is great (keep in mind downtown was dead at 6pm and now it rocks as hard as West LA at 10pm). This place is a must see!

Pros: view, service, food, and experiance

Cons: try to use a corporate card

I went there last night with a three of my girlfriends and we had a wonderful experience. We had a reservation at 8 and were seated by 8:15. Our server was very helpful, the food was so tasty and original. My favorites were the 21st roll and the Lemon-albacore roll. The martinis were great too, I loved the rose water martini We were planning on just having dinner but since we had such a great time we decided to go to Elevate, which is a lounge on the other side of the 21st floor.

Pros: Sushi, service, and the VIEW

Cons: 15 minute wait

I went here for my birthday & the sushi is definitely not great. The decor is so old fashioned and old looking even though this place is new and u can barely see that much of the view when ur sitting cuz of the balcony type of thing blocking it. The chicken tastes like something my mom could make at home definitely nothing gourmet about it. The teriyaki sauce was salty & not sweet. I asked for light butter on the garlic edamame which was so salty our tongues were burning and we couldn’t even eat it anymore so we just left it so that was a waste. If u ask them for it I would just say NO salt at all. Everything was so salty I feel like i have high blo od pressure. I wanted to go here for my birthday because I thought what better than a sushi restaurant with a great view but now I regret it. Don’t go here for a special occasion. The sushi was very average. Overall I have nothing to rave about and I am definitely not going here again. Katana and Koi are on a whole other level/dimension/everything than this place. Oh, we got the garden salad with the onion dressing, let me tell u they were not kidding about the onions all it is is onions pureed in a food processor that they pour over your food. My friend and I had that aftertaste until the next day. When we ordered a drink at our table and the waitress brought it it tasted a billion times less strong than the one we got at the bar and we didn’t wanna be one of those rude people that act like its too light or something but it really tasted like sparkling water and cranberry instead of vodka and cranberry, we told her and she took the same glass and poured more of a “well” vodka drink even though we specifically told her grey goose in the first place. I regret going here for my birthday the food is overpriced for what they give just 2 people hardly ordering much food became 90 bucks, I'd much rather go to koi and spend 150 on a great meal and a great ambiance. This place sucked. Read my review for Elevate Lounge too.

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: Eveyrthing including the elevator which we got stuck in but then it fixed itself!
