HORRIBLE BARTENDERS
by dknycs at Citysearch
A group of us went to the Alibi on Friday night. The bartender served 1 of us and ignored the other 3 girls. She was NOT busy at all. We finally got the other bartenders attention and told her that the rest of us want a drink as well. I ordered a Corona and she told me that they didn't have Corona and probably wouldn't have anything that I would like. She was SO rude. So I asked for a bar menu. As I was exploring my options I saw the bartender make a face and roll her eyes at my friend. My friend was shocked. If she hadn't ordered food already she said she would have walked out. We left after 1 drink and will not go back there, ever. All of us were appalled. Never have any of us received such horrible service. Both bartenders were useless and rude.
We went to The Garter that night and had a great time.
- Pros: cute bar
- Cons: the 2 bartenders
Good Booze Selection-Yummy Kogi Tacos
by jblaize at Citysearch
Nice to have a local bar-even tho I miss the dive bars that have now been taken over by the Yuppies ! and the prices tripled-
Anyway -On my way home from work-Having a craving for the Kogi Tacos- (I had several times off the truck)
I stop in after circling the area looking for parking (tuesday night too)-
Interior is concrete and grey-I like the triangle shape bar-Kinda dark and cold-Sit at the bar have the 3 tacos special and a glass of red raw power wine-7 plus 7=$14
Talk to some folks at the bar- and leave-
Overall good experience-The smoke from the patio filled the interior-yuck -
The bartender kinda slow and uninterested-
Noticed some top shelf tequilla's and Bourbans-agood sign-
- Pros: Good Selection of Booze
- Cons: Parking and Service
don't go if you are thirsty (or want service)
by llamadingo at Citysearch
I thought the girl bartenders were nice looking enough but were more interested in dancing with each other and moving in circles around the bar doing a lot of busy work than watching for all the customers trying to get their attention to buy drinks at the bar ( as there were a lot of us trying to spend our money.) I thought this would be a good neighborhood spot to come to often, but I can't justify the high prices with bartenders who don't seem to care about building a loyale customer base or paying attention to their clientele. After 40 minutes and only able to get one drink, we left. I probably won't go back. Too bad...Life is too short to waste time with poor service.
- Pros: nice interior decorating, lighting, effect
- Cons: not good service (bring a flask)
Alibi Room

I've been here a few times to eat the Kogi Tapas. A friend of mine and I agree that the quality of the food can be inconsistent. Some nights, it may be great, and on other nights not so great. Otherwise, the food is great, the staff maintain their composure even when it gets really crazy.
Overall, it's a great place only to get the Kogi Tapas without having to hunt for the truck.
- Pros: Kogi Tapas, Generous Wine Pours
- Cons: Can get crowded
Huge disappoint
by westlakelly at Citysearch
With all the Kogi hype I was very excited to check it out. And what a disappointment it turned out to be. They are ill equipped to make it a good experience with their staff. The two bartenders really need to kick it up a notch and light a fire under it. They have the attitude that they couldn't possibly care less if the patrons are having a good time and being properly tended to. The dishwasher behind the bar has more interest in standing around keeping himself hydrated that helping out his coworkers and the poor waitress was trying her hardest to keep everything organized and maintain a sweet demeanor. She was the best thing about the whole night. The place was packed, but very poorly run to say the least. We didn't get several things we ordered, mainly because it was so chaotic. The food was fair, not great, but good enough to find the truck somewhere around town. There's no way I would go back to give it another shot.
- Pros: Comfy interior, good parking
- Cons: Service
Expensive, Slow Service
by Markkkk at Citysearch
I used to frequent this place before the renovation when it was a dive bar. I noticed it was open again when passing by so I stopped in for a drink with a friend. The service was slow to say the least. It was on a saturday early evening. There were maybe 10 patrons in the place. We sat down at the bar and probably waited 10 minutes before we were noticed by the bartender. I ordered a glass of wine and got a glass with the previous patrons lipstick all over it. After waiting another 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention I gave it back, even though I did not drink any of it I still paid almost $10 for the glass. I'm not stepping foot in there ever again.
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: expensive
A Black Diamond in the Rough
by the811 at Citysearch
Approaching the entrance, you immediately stumble upon an awkward ramp leading to the heavy, tinted threshold. Designer lighting creates a subtle glow once you step foot onto the concrete flooring, and you are welcomed into the serene atmosphere. At first glance, you notice the protruding bar, designed to fit the occupying space. Then, your eye wanders to the right, catching a glimpse of the cozy fireplace situated on the back wall. Lounge seating compliments this section, allowing for prime conversational areas. An outdoor space provides for additional conversations as it is separated from the street by a pattern-based brick wall, creating an ?indoor? feel. Heading back indoors, you find yourself captivated by the large 3?x3? photographs of derelict pools and suburban Los Angeles, leaving a lasting impression of this ?black diamond in the rough.?
Drink of Choice: Acme IPA
Music of Choice: Late 90?s top 50 pop/rock

The Food is awesome!!!! Atmosphere is fun and inviting!!!!

Walked in around 8:00pm on a wednesday night, to grab a bite to eat before my friends started arriving for drinks. Very quiet around this time easy to get a drink. Chicken tacos were recommended had them, and they were fantastic! Order the Frys guys!!!! Chatted with the locals everyone was very friendly, as the evening progressed so did the number of occupants. Never got loud enough that you couldn't hear what anybody was saying. There were very attractive people scattered amongst the place, bartender was on top of everything, definitely a positive recommendation. Newly renovated, locals talked about what an old dive it use to be. Very hip and trendy, definitly envied the couple that was able to snag the couch next to the fireplace!!! If you do go, try to bring a jacket, noticed that the AC was on high through out most of the evening- being from Michigan I was even a little chilly. Definitely a place you want to visit if your looking for something new, and fun!!!!
- Pros: Very nice decor, friendly people all over!
- Cons: AC was on all night making it chilly
Great local spot
by tinkrbe1l3 at Citysearch
Loved the fact that I didn't have to drive across town for a small, simple, nicely decorated bar. I like chill environments and usually go to The Well when i'm in hollywood. but that's far when you live in Ladera. Place was brighter than most bars and that's a plus...bartenders were cute and flirty so taht added to the fun. I had the mozzarella, fried chicken oysters, zucchini, and the beer on tap...all fantastic. was able to have good convo with friends...nice drinks....didn't notice the pricing because i think the folks that say stuff is too expensive haven't relized the old idea of too expensive is now the new norm. I got there at 9:15pm so i had no issue with sitting at the bar. the place did get crowded and folks stood around and chit chatted. but that's the appeal as well. not the place for large bday parties or a night out on the town...it's the place for "hey what do you wanna do tonite?" "i dunno...i just wanna chill out and have a drink and not pay a cover or wait in a line and eat some simple good eats" "well let's got to the alibi" "done."
- Pros: Modern decor, good bar food, fun beers, cute bartenders, plenty of parking, small so it stays a local bar, lighting is not nonexsistent, music is not distracting
- Cons: none for me, bar got crowded but isn't that a good thing? don't want them out of business
Another Bar From the Owners of the Brigg
by jraposa at Citysearch
Another Bar From the Owners of the Brigg. Went on a Saturday night for a birthday. We also live near by. Very crowded because the layout of the place is not very functional. The bar is an odd shape that takes up most of the space in the room. Along side of the bar are seats & peopel stand behind them but the aisle is too narrow to get through so people are constantly bumping into eact other.
This used to be a local bar which, like the Brig has lost all of it's character and is another expensive generic space.
- Pros: Not much
- Cons: Expensive, trendy, & poor us eof space & design
