Great Experience

This is my first time reviewing a restaurant on Citysearch although I use this site all the time. Our waitress suggested I write something nice because I told her so many of the reviews are bad and I almost didn't try this place out because of them. First of all a lot of these are about the club and I'm too old to be clubbing but the restaurant was amazing. My wife and I went Monday night with no reservations and we were sat right away even though the place seemed pretty busy. Our waitress was incredible, she explained how the whole restaurant worked and stirred us in the right direction for all of our selections. The food is the BEST part, we have been to all the popular sushi places in L.A. and this is hands down the best we've had. The view sets this place apart too, we sat outside in a high rise.The manager came by twice to make sure we were happy. I'm not sure where all these other people went but Takami is our new favorite place!

The food was nothing special and overpriced, Angus robata skewers were dry and tasteless. Beware their valet--their policy is to lock your keys in the restaurant after closing, so if you go next door for a drink, you may find yourself stranded downtown at 12:20 a.m. as we were, with no car and no house keys. Spent the night on a friend's floor in my dress, took the metro back and had to pay $13 to get my car out the next morning. Nowhere did they warn us that this was the policy.

THIS PLACE is NOT GOOD!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY....I would NEVER refer this place to anyone....after reading the postings and such bad reviews I thought they were all false until I went myself....They are SO Predujice and the staff is rude...if you are black or latino you will not get in....my friends and I went there for my birthday this past weekend 7/11/09...there was about 20 of us who arrived about 10:45pm and 10 who arrived at 10pm were already upstairs...when the 20 of us got there they would not let us in because the club was full...we could only get in if we paid for bottle service which they tried to charge us $2000 since there were 20 of us and most of our party had to be female....WTF??? We were a mixed crowd (black and latinos), my other 10 friends including my aunts who were already upstairs are white were let in with no problem, but the minute we arrived we could not get in...but they had let 15 asians and about 20 whites in to the club without bottle service...when we asked the bouncer what was that all about...he said oh we know them...I was like whatever....the club outside was dead there was never a line in front....we made them look like they had a line....

We were all dressed way above the dress code...the guys had on suites and the ladies had on short dresses looking fine...we all looked like models...I asked if I could go upstairs to get the rest of my party in which I did...Once I got inside the club it was easy to find my friends because the club was empty, the music sucked, the dance floor had about 5 people if that....the club says they play hip hop and top 40 on Saturday night but does not...it was all tecno...I could see why they wanted money for bottle service, because they needed to meet thier quota for the night....my friends met a lot of people inside and followed us downstairs were we proceeded to leave to go somewhere else who will accept minorities....the bouncers were mad because we took half of the club with us and the few people who were in the front left as well and some rolled with us....

As we we're all leaving one of the bouncers said that we should go across the street because they'll let us in over there...we started to go off on the bouncer but checked out it out anyways...it was a really really nice lounge/club plus it was free to get in and drinks were cheap and good....The place is called Remedy and it was off the hook!!!! REMEDY had a great DJ, nice mixed crowd with all races...cute guys and fine females...so thank you Elevate Lounge for being predujice and not allowing us to get in, because Remedy Lounge was MUCH BETTER!!!!

Don't Bother

The security guys have NO clue about crowd control. Standing in line for 45 minutes without moving is nobody's idea of a good time. We never did get into the place because they took only people who were on their list inside and only about 5 or 6 at a time. The other people in line cut in front of us and it was just a mob of people. No line, no order, no manners! Staff did nothing to try to make things better and just acted nasty to everyone. Don't waste your time - go somewhere else.

I CAME HERE FOR MY BACHELORETTE NIGHT ONE SAT. AND THE LINE WAS SUPER LONG. SECURITY NOTICED MY FRIENDS AND i & WE ALL GOT IN FREE AND DID NOT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE. THE SERVICE AND HOSPITALITY WAS GREAT !!!!! THE PARTY CROWD WAS EXTREMELY FRIENDLY . WE HAD A GREAT TIME.

Elevate Friday night Guest list and Bottle Service

This place is definitely not as bad as all the reviews say. If you want to have a great time at this beautiful venue with a great view of Los Angeles do yourself a favor plan ahead and get on my guest list. Elevate is a really nice club and expects its clients to understand that they are going to a really nice place so... you have to dress appropriately, the dress code is cocktail dresses or skirts for women and dress shoes and a dress shirt for males. The bouncers are instructed to enforce the dress code ruthlessly so if your outfit is not looking right then you are not going to get in... that is how clubs are EVERYWHERE. Your group will most likely experience the following scenerios:

Guys Only Groups

If you are going with a bunch of guys for a guys night out expect to get bottle service, common sense would you go to a club full of dudes, NO you wouldn't. If you would like to get in right away and not wait at all, i can get you a special deal two gray goose or two patrons for 500 bux, cant beat that. Unless you arrive at 10pm sharp you will have to pay 20 dollars and wait to get in even if you are on the guest list.

Mixed Guys/Girls Groups

If you are coming with a mixed (girl/guy) group you will for sure get in right away if your on my list you might have to wait a little bit but for sure will get in before the group of guys only. Guys will have to pay 20 dollars. Be patient with the door staff and you will get in and have a blast.

Girls Only Groups

If you are coming with your girls for a girls night out and all of you follow the dress code and are looking your best for a Friday night out, then you will get in for free all night on my list (sorry guys, its the world we live in). Don't even worry about it... if there is room in the club and your on my list then you will get it in without waiting.

This place has a great mixed crowd which always ensures a good time all around, its always crowded but has some of the most beautiful people in down town LA who to be honest with you are sometimes hand picked from the line, its no secret and its the way most high end clubs operate. If you go out a lot you should have noticed that by now if you don't go out a lot you will see it happen eventually. But if you want to make sure you get in my best advice is to plan ahead for a good time and email me at jorgejimenez83@gmail to get on the Friday Night Guest List.

The best place for a HOT Saturday night in Downtown LA

All I can say is WOW!

The first time I came here was on New Year's Eve 2009. I had a phenomenal time but will not review the adventure because it would have been good almost anywhere I went. Instead I want to review my past experience from Saturday, my birthday.

I knew that I wanted to invite my friends to a HOT but elegant club with a top-notch feel. ELEVATE is the right place, believe me. I sent an email to make a reservation. Greg, the general manager, called me to set it up. He told me that all of my friends could bypass the cover and the line if they mentioned my name at the door.

When I arrived, they knew exactly who I was, all of the security guards were introduced to me and we went right up VIP style. It felt like the red carpet was rolled out. They gave me the best table in the club and I already had friends waiting who couldn't believe their similar experience. Our cocktail server was awesome and kept us happily drinking all night. The music was ridiculously good and the club was bumpin'. There were good looking people everywhere having a blast. The general manager came by to check on us a couple of times and we all felt very special. ELEVATE was incredibly accommodating to the 50 or so guests that came to celebrate!

We will all come back again and for those I have talked to, have dubbed this our favorite spot in los Angeles.

If you're looking for a cheap place, remember, you get what you pay for. If you want to have a first class experience, this is the place to come.

I've been to elevate quite a few times with my friends and it's a nice little spot downtown. However, if you're looking for a similar atmosphere with better sushi, I'd go with Club Sushi in Hollywood.

Consistently a good time

My friends and I have been going to Elevate at least twice a month for almost a year... The staff knows and remembers us and we always have a great experience. One of the only places in LA/Hollywood that is always crowded and where there are no issues or problems.
