GO HERE NOW! (or else)
by BBELA at Citysearch
My friend took me here last night for either my birthday or for watching her terrier. Perhaps a little of both. Either way, it was much appreciated.
I love this place, this is the third time I’ve been here. Great food, has a great neighborhood vibe to it. The decor is swanky, simple and slick. There is an enormous vase filled with lily’s in the center of the small restaurant.
We ordered the 5 spice seared ahi tuna (pictured above - after my taking a big a** bite out of it first)
We also ordered the chicken satay which I absolutely doused in the very oily peanut sauce.
Then, we ordered the Panang curry (seriously, the best FRIGGIN red curry in LA), and finally, the Pad Thai (absolutely nasty - I think someone accidentally dumped a box of brown sugar in it. Pukety!)
Now, don’t be put off by this. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever ordered in the past. The drunken noodles are out of this world as are each and every appetizer. My friend always orders the enormous fried shrimp which are perfectly breaded and fried, not greasy. Each dish comes out as a literal work of culinary art, on designer white plates.
Just don’t order the pad thai or I’ll be really upset with you.

L.A.'s best kept secret
by endydusty at Citysearch
This is one of the best thai restaurants i have ever been to. The food is unbelievably fresh. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is nicer than almost any other restaurant. It is also very peaceful. The food actually tastes healthy unlike most thai restaurants which drench the food in sauce. If you haven't been, what are you waiting for!?
- Pros: Food, ambience, service, parking
- Cons: none
SSSSSHHHHH!!! Don't tell anyone.

I love Thai food and this is it. When Rambutan opened, the food was pretty good but Nakkara will make me never go back to that place. Nakkara was small but not crowded, you could hear yourself talk. The staff was very pleasant. And of course the food was awesome. The spoon shrimp was extremely hot and spicy but packed with flavor. The Nakkara Mieang Kum was something I had never expirienced before but a dish I will be back for again and again. The lamb chomps in curry were cooked to perfection. The saigon rolls were good but not on the same level as the other dishes I ate. For drinks we brought beer which made the meal very affordable. We did bring Singha and Paulaner. Surprisingly, I found the Paulaner Lager complimented the food better than the Singha. The sticky rice was with a Thai custard hat makes me wish I had ordered seconds. I hope next time they will be making some chocolate bannana roti.
I look forward to many returns to Nakkara. Be cool and don't tell too many people. I want the restaurant to succeed but I don't want resrevations to become too difficult. *****
- Pros: Incredible Thai food
- Cons: The atmosphere was nice but artwork on the walls could use some help.

I tried to order delivery from this place and they were not able to decipher if I was in their delivery area, despite the fact that I lived less than three miles away. I asked to speak to a manager and they hung up on me.
- Pros: non
- Cons: poor staff
Delicious and affordable gem!
by summer808 at Citysearch
My friends have been raving about this little place ever since the day they went, so I was excited to finally go and check it out for myself. I 100% agree with their assessment of this delicious little gem of a thai restaurant. The food is delicious and very affordable. Portion sizes are ample and the service is polite and prompt. Available seating is on the smaller side, but I've never had a wait. I strongly recommend the yellow chicken coconut curry and the garlic green beans are a must. Also, who doesn't love BYOB (not to mention there isn't a corkage fee)? Great date place and the venue is very accommodating for larger parties. Parking might be a little tricky depending on the time of the day, but given the location, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle as there are plenty of metered spots around.
- Pros: Scrumptious food, great prices!
- Cons: Might have difficutly finding a metered parking spot, but you'll find one eventually

so after reading all the great reviews, we finally made it to nakkara for dinner and were very pleasantly surprised by the great food and even better hospitality! it's not very traditional thai food but very very delicious. the catfish my husband had was very well seasoned, it was marinated in ginger and curry i think and my basic ruby curry was excellent too. unbelievable customer service! prices are higher than at other thai places and but it's definitely worth a try, it's also probably the most beautifully designed of all LA thai restaurants!
- Cons: air condition was set too low...
SUPERB and COMFORTABLY elegant new Thai Restaurant!
by petetkat at Citysearch
My girlfriend and I went to NAKKARA for lunch today....I didn't even know it was there....we live a block away.
My expectations were EXCEEDED. This is a seductive and hip restaurant with simple and elegant decor.
We ordered off of the lunch special menu...and were greeted with beautifully presented plates with the food equaling its looks.
It was pretty slow in there at around 3pm....so as would be expected, the service was fantastic. Our waitress was very pleasant with a wonderful smile. At a certain point at the end of our meal, the chef/owner came out to ask how everything was....
A wonderful experience with even better food. This is modern/authentic thai cuisine. Delicious and comfortably elegant. I would highly recommend it....and I can't wait to go back and try this place for dinner.
I wish the owners and staff the best of luck and look forward to seeing them again soon.
a very satisfied customer.
- Cons: Didn't even know it was there!
Geat Customer Service
by vamprrella at Citysearch
My Husband and I decided to stop in after walking down Beverly Blvd. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, great customer service ..they pay attention to detail. Fair prices and WOW the food was Excellent. I had the Crying Beef and my husband had the Seared Ahi Tuna. Its 1st class food. Not everything on the menu is Strictly Thai..more Asian fusion so while you still can get your curries they also have non traditional dishes. They have Dim Sum on Sunday mornings too! Highly Recommend!!
- Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Food
- Cons: None
Great Thai Food Near The Grove
by lifeserial at Citysearch
Looking for a great affordable meal near The Grove? Check out Nakkara on Beverly. Their dishes are all reasonably priced, even though the restaurant looks rather upscale. Okay. I did flip a plate over (what!?) and notice that it was from Pier 1, but that just means they're smart. I like it here. It's never crowded, which is a shame?and also a blessing. Go with your friends or, better yet, take a date; it's an excellent date spot after sundown when they dim the lights and turn up the music. Their vegetable spring rolls are the best I've had in a coon's age.
- Pros: Vegetable spring rolls, super friendly service
One of the best meals ever!
by jkoppell at Citysearch
I went with my roommate because we were looking for a nice, not expensive restaurant. We had no idea it would turn out to be so fantastic. It was one of the best meals ever! I even made a reservation for my boss a few days later for a client dinner and he loved it.
I can't say enough good things. Great food, great (and extensive) menu, great prices, great atmosphere!
- Pros: Everything!
