Insulting!
by spyfilms
A rude waitress followed up by an even ruder manager nearly ruined our evening. A party of 4 should be able to eat dinner in an hour and 30 minutes but when we sat down to eat our main course never showed up. The staff were rude (except the bread guy, he was always Johnny on the Spot and I wish I would have tipped him!)
I could go on and on - but I'll save you the time and just say it was insulting how badly we were treated and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
- Pros: Great bread guy - no shortage of great bread
- Cons: Everything else, espeically the service staff.
Beyond Amazing!

I am a New York transplant who has been consistently confused by Los Angeles' restaurants being over decorated and under whelming. I was brought to Melograno on a Wednesday (Live Jazz Night) by a friend who promised the moon and it was delivered! The service was amazing from the moment we walked in, to the very end. The food was the best I've had so far in LA! I recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a real Northern Italian dining experience. We had they're half portions so that we could taste everything on the menu. I cannot recommend only one dish- I loved them all! All I have to say is the chef makes his pastas fresh daily! The restaurant is all organic and sourced locally! Its close to all the Pantages, Kodak and the Arclight.
- Pros: Romantic, Great food, Patio, Great Service, Convenient to theatres
Undiscovered Italian Gem
by ryanlevin
I knew little to nothing about this place and chose it simply because it was close to Hotel Cafe. Why this place doesn't have people lining up outside the door, I have no idea. The beet salad was otherworldly, the angel hair pasta was beyond flavorful... even the bread was top-notch. One waiter was very generous in letting us try various wines before selecting our bottle, while another apologized profusely for the "sinful" act of letting the goat cheese cube topple from the top of the salad greens onto the plate while carrying it from the kitchen. When I said, "If you never said anything, I never would have known," his response -- "But I am too honest."
Go here now.
Fabulous!

This place is a gem! We went here for an engagement dinner and it couldn't have been better! Giuseppe, one of the owners, planned an amazing pre-fixed menu for us with wine pairings for each of the four courses. The food was AMAZING! The service was great as well...just attentive enough but still letting us enjoy our meal without too many interruptions. The restaurant was also beautiful...it felt trendy but warm and comfortable. We happened to stumble upon this place because it is right next door to Hush where we planned on going after. I'm so glad we did and we all tried to convince Giuseppe to move Melograno to the westside! Great evening!
- Pros: Food, service
- Cons: location- come to the westside Melograno!!!
Rude Service, Medeocre Food.

I hate to be the one interview which spoils this restaurants reviews, but I had an awful post-theatre experience here. I went as a celebration for my 21st birthday with my parents and sister. The restaurant was entirely empty (it was early Sunday evening), yet the staff ignored us for twenty minutes, did not suggest any wines, and then did not explain the menu. When asked for recommendations, the waiter simply said he did not know. When I asked if they had an appetizer list, the server scoffed at me and told me that all plates were full sized; they did not "do" appetizers. When my drink came, it was never refilled, no was anyone elses in my party. I had told them it was my birthday as we sat down, and yet they never came and asked how the food was or if we needed anything. We had absolutely no contact with the waiter between when the food server brought our dinners and when he handed us the check. When he saw the surprised look on our faces , he said "I'm sorry, was there a misunderstanding?" We simply wanted to leave at this point. As a final insult, when I attempted to pay with American Express, the waiter said they don't "take" AmEx, even though that was the emblem on the outside of the check holder. She then said their AmeX machine was "down" and could only take Visa or Mastercard. Horrendous service for a $250 meal. Horrendous. I do not recommend this place to anyone who values palatable service.
- Pros: Beautiful Setting and Interior
- Cons: Horrendous service, rude condescending wait staff.
Amazing!

Great Ambience, great food/wine & service. Perfect place for a romantic dinner. Pricey - but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend if you want to impress a date or clients! My only recommendation for this place it to do something about the step in the doorway - while we were there, at least 4 people almost tripped on it, myself included!
- Pros: Ambience
Best Kept Secret in Hollywood
by candice148
This place is absolutely delicious with great service. My fiancee and I can never believe how few people are here. Maybe we have just been at slower times, but I am writing this (my first) review because I want his place to stick around. It's right on Hollywood Blvd, yet very nice without being too sceney. The specials are always amazing. We usually order all of them and share everything. I can't recommend Melograno enough!
Best new restaurant I've been to in awhile
by traci8878
What else can I say but Wow! This restaurant has it all-nice ambience, good service and fantastic food! The beet salad was refreshing, the short ribs were tasty, the homemade pasta like nothing I have ever tasted and the peara cotta (sp?) for desert was a lovely way to end the meal. I will be back again and again and highly recommend you try this restarant.
- Pros: Everything!!!
OK

Giuseppe did not greet us with anything. In fact no one asked to help us with the wine list. Our server just returned from her break and had food still in her mouth while telling us the specials. La Cantina is right next door. We sat on the patio so consider yourself warned, there is dueling music between Melograno and La Cantina, very annoying. The setting is romantic but this totally ruined the evening, maybe different if you sat inside. As far as the food, it was just average. Snapper was dry, good sauce though, nothing comes with it except a few string veges. Artichoke salad had NO taste, Fresh fruit cocktails were just weird tasting. We kept trying the drinks hoping to find a good one, but no luck. I am not sure what my husband ate, he'll eat anything. Would not say it was horrible, but do not think we would go back. Nothing special here.
Delish Italian Fare

What a surprise! Hidden on Hollywood Blvd, this quaint Italian restaurant was a delicious choice. My father-in-law was impressed by the wine list (which is always a good sign) and the ambiance was wonderful. We sat out on the patio on a pretty LA night. I ordered the artichoke salad to start and the halibut as my entree-excellent. Others got the pastas which they were very impressed with. Overall, I really enjoyed Melograno and would definitely recommend that others go dine there.
- Pros: Ambiance, food, service
- Cons: Didn't love the desert (rich chocolate cake)
