CLOSED

Called today after numerous attempts to go after the theatre. I was told that " the place has been closed for a while and they are unsure what happened."
Rockin' bistro-lounge brings a touch of style to the Fashion District's absent nightlife scene.

In Short
A glowing Plexiglas catwalk divides the industrial space into posh white leather booths and minimalist furniture against a sleek light blue banquette. A wall-length mural of cheering concert-goers gives the extra boost of confidence for those strutting, while a mega-hits soundtrack plays overhead. Different menu plans for varying hours give the after-clubbers and designers on their lunch breaks a taste of easy-to-understand continental favorites like brioche French toast, forest ham quiche and steak frites.

Called at 3:15pm on a Friday afternoon to make reservations. No answer. Is this place still open? Called several times and still no answer.

frugal and fashinable : the H&M of cafeterias

Atmosphere: Like the previous reviewer, we were slightly nervous about walking into what appeared to be an empty restaurant on a Monday night around 7pm. The view of the large white booths, the most popular seat with diners, is blocked upon entry. Although there was only one other party in the booths upon arrival, the restaurant was half full by the time our meal ended. Music is upbeat and there is a large screen playing episodes of all things fashion including recent episodes of American's Next Top Model. Decor is bright and eerily reminiscent of Daniel Mead's office at Mode on Ugly Betty.
Service: Attentive but not smothering. Water glasses were filled when only half empty. And no one stole our plates without asking.
Food Order: Beet Salad (yellow beets, mixed greens, Humboldt Fog, vinaigrette), Skirt Steak Panini (steak, gorgonzola cheese and sun dried tomatoes), Albacore Tuna (seared tuna, bok choy and ginger sauce), Coke float with chocolate chip cookies. The salad was perfectly lovely except for the massive amounts of bean sprouts. Kudos to the kitchen for making a proper panini. Steak was tender and easy to manage, flavors were strong but worked well together and the bread was thinly sliced and grilled to perfection. Albacore Tuna was slightly over cooked for the diner's preference but was well seasoned. Sauce was sparse and dispersed on the plate instead of over the tuna which kept the dish light. Dessert was a traditional Coke float accompanied by slightly undercooked cookies - the best kind.
Prices: Salads $6-8, Sandwiches Under $10, Main Courses $10-15ish
- Pros: modern decor, reasonable, parking lot right next door
- Cons: nothing within walking distance at night
What is this place

We went there after a Laker game and it was empty. We stayed and ate against our inner voices telling us to run. The menu was expensive for some ok tasting food. It was nice to find a place open late, but this cafeteria needs less expensive items. There was nothing under $15. We were confused.
- Pros: open 24 hours
- Cons: awkward seating and lighting. too expensive
