I like Main. Nice staff and it's a vast improvement from the Mor Bar. I saw I flyer for Salsa on Tuesday nights and I'm very excited about that! Give it a try. I went to a friends bday party a couple of weeks ago and it was not hot, great drinks, pretty people and an AWESOME DJ! Give it a try...no cover before 10:00 is a good start. I left one star off because the bathrooms leave something to be desired. Who paints a womens bathroom brown? Strange...
Pros: Good place to dance and party
Cons: Bathrooms

I've been going to Main off and on since they opened. I quit going because it was so hot. NOT ANY MORE! I don't know what they did but I went this last weekend and it was almost TOO COLD..until I started dancing then it was just right. It's the best place to dance on Main st and I can walk there to it's a win win for me!
Pros: NEW AC!!
Cons: nothing anymore!

The reality of this place is that it is just too damn hot in there! I recently attended a friend’s birthday party on a Sat. night. The temperature in the bar had to be over 100%. There is no circulation in the place so you are basically just breathing in the gross sweaty air that everyone else is exhaling. Just one look around the bar revealed almost everyone fanning themselves with the flyers, table tents, or anything else they could find relive the heat. After speaking with a couple of workers at the bar it became apparent that this was not a onetime issue. I was informed that they get comments on it every weekend and they relay those comments to management and nothing changes. My friends and I would not go back to this bar based solely on the lack of concern for the comfort of its guests! However, if you are looking to have a great time and leave soaked in sweat, this is the place for you. The DJ was playing a fantastic mix.
Pros: Great Music, Strong Drinks, Friendly Service
Cons: Too HOT!!!!!!!

the only other time i've felt as claustrophobic as i did at "Main" was on my visit to Alcatraz in D-block. This place was not meant to be a bar/club. There is no air movement inside (you can tell by standing outside the bar and looking at the windows, which are covered in moisture from the inside). The location is great and I firmly believe this place has way more potential.
Pros: sufficient lounging areas considering size of bar
Cons: interior too narrow/tight. hardly any space to move.

Me and my girlfriends were really excited when we had heard that a new club had opened up in the old Mor Bar spot. Unfortunately, Main did not live up to expectations. There were a few "private" parties already inside when we arrived and that being said, apparently the doormen just let whomever into the spot when no one is there (we saw people in flipflops, baggy jeans and t-shirts, etc.). A few friends that arrived later than we did were told to wait outside even though it was empty inside (Why do clubs still do this?! We all know you're empty inside when there's a line outside.). Service at the bar was fine, nothing to write home about, and the music was just ok...the dj could have really sparked the dance floor with some old school hiphop, but instead he chose to spin some records that, shall we say, are popular in clubs in West Hollywood. We were disappointed with the entire experience to say the least, so we left earlier than anticpated and headed down the street to close out another club that I shall not name here.
Pros: It WAS a new spot to go to in Santa Monica.
Cons: Did not live up to expectations.

I always have a great time at Main! I've been going every Sat night since they opened. It is so much nicer than the Mor Bar was and the crowd is way better. I actually prefer a dress code at some places. Why would I get dressed up to hang out with beach slobs when I'm not being a beach slob! C'Mon people! Saturday night is not the night for flip flops and hoodies! The DJ rocks and I've never had a problem with the bouncers. Why do people complain about lines...of course there is a line...HELLO! Circle Bar has a line when there is NO ONE in there! There is a line because the place is PACKED! Nothing bad about that! It would be bad if the place was dead...which it is not on the weekends and that's why I keep going back!

Was looking forward to a new spot on the Westside/Santa Monica, but was disappointed: music wasn't very good and the private parties let in earlier took up most of the club. Maybe an off night, but with another bar/club just down the street that is tried and true, would rather go there knowing I am guaranteed great music and fun people. Too bad.
Pros: "Was" a new Westside spot.
Cons: Not all that, unfortunately.

Part of what's great about living on the westside is that the clubs (read: bars with something resembling a dance floor) on this side of the 405 don't generally come with the pretensions of the typical Hwood scene - 2 hour line outside, "must be wearing a tuxedo" dress code, take out a second mortgage to pay for drinks at the bar, etc. Nevertheless, somehow, someway, Main on Main managed to plant itself on the westside complete with all the fixins it's so easy to hate about Hwood clubs. Line outside, check. Uber-strict dress code enforcement, check. Rude bouncers, check. Drink specials, HA! Don't feel bad if you're into those things, because you're not alone in this town. And now even the westside has something for you to quench that Hwood thirst to feel important! I prefer hole-in-the-wall bars, but every now and again it's nice to shake whatchamommagaveya. But frankly, I'd rather do so at Bar Copa. HOLLER
Pros: Functional restroom.
Cons: Everything not listed in pros.

Awful security and management at this venue. Security did not enforce apparent club rules upon entrance and after paying a cover, opening a tab and patronizing club for two hours, patrons were rudely asked to leave due to "owner's rules." When asked to speak with said owner, they were refused request. Security was demeaning, condescending and dishonest to patrons about what was said upon entrance, (i.e., security said that they did disclose club rules when they in fact did not). Security threatened patrons and when patrons agreed to leave if their cover was reimbursed, security initially refused. Would not recommend this venue as there are two other venues within 3 blocks where management has hired professional security for their venues.
Cons: Poorly managed venue with unprofessional security.
