Small plates, crafty cocktails and 25 wines in former 15.

by Melissa Gage at Citysearch

Inside the small, contemporary space, the feel is somewhat similar to that of former neighborhood favorite, 15. The tables and high-backed leather chairs haven’t changed, but that’s where the similarities stop. The palette has lightened up a bit, literally, with a striking blue, foamy wave rolling across a vibrant yellow wall. A red wall behind the roomy bar adds another pop of color. The menu is all about small plates, including “snacks” like aracini (deep fried chunks of risotto with peas and mozzarella), “plates” including cedar-plank salmon and a pork belly BLT, and “sides” that range from roast Brussels sprouts to fries with chimichurri. Creative signature cocktails include concoctions like the Allston Sunrise, with vodka, Campari, ginger liqueur and fresh tangerine. An equally creative wine list features a selection for any price range and pallet, all served by the bottle or glass.

With nothing more in common than the same address, Echo Park's short-lived Restaurant 15 has been transformed into a Bostonian sports/tapas bar.

Best Mac n Cheese & Burger

by kriticaltaste at Citysearch

I didn't grow up on Mac n cheese and never really liked it...but after having the jalapeno mac n cheese here, I am hooked. On my way home from work, I usually stop in for a glass of wine but I always end up staying for more. The waiters/bartenders are very attentive and welcoming. There aren't many restaurants that have awesome food and service without burning a hole in your wallet. I have tried everything on the menu because they all sounded so interesting...and I have to say you can't really go wrong with any dish. I love short ribs and I have not found another restaurant that comes close to the short ribs at 15. The bacon wrapped figs (appetizers) are sooo good! And the Kobe burger is really really good. Overall, a great experience!

Edgy Eastside eatery surprises quaint Echo Park neighborhood with its wholesome American food and dash of international flavors.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Executive chef and owner, Alex Eusebio (formerly of boutique restaurant Cuba Cuba in Denver), has transformed the old seedy Burrito King joint into an eclectic restaurant that has gotten locals peeking in and seeing what all the hype is about. This quasi-upscale bistro consists of a bar-like counter, as well as thin tables and dark leather chairs arranged for a more intimate setting. Appetizers range from a wild mushroom empanada served over sauteed mushrooms and tomato salad to the lobster risotto with lemon zest and fresh basil chiffonade. Popular entrees include a burger with gruyere, caramelized onions and pomme frites; braised short ribs with roasted tomato and fingerling potatoes; and the duck confit served with whole grain mustard potatoes and veggies. The chocolate croissant bread pudding with warm caramel is the bait for many returning customers.

Hits: One of the best upscale restaurants on the Eastside, the food is top-notch, down to the Niman Ranch meat used in the filet mignon. Servers are bright, attentive and personable. The "VIP" smoking patio out back is a nice touch.

Misses: There's no valet parking and street spots can be tight. Wine temperatures vary greatly; asking for a slight chill-down can result in arctic-temperature returns, even for reds. The bar is located right along the back wall in the middle of the restaurant--its small screen TVs might prove distracting to some in the dining area.

Such a treat to find this placein Echo Park -- the food was really tasty -- 3 courses for $15 before 6:30pm on Saturday. The atmosphere was enjoyable, the waiters were great. A real find. Good food, GREAT PRICES.

  • Cons: If you are not used to Echo Park, it can seem dodgy, but it really is not.

The cobe burger & mac & cheese are to die for!!!!

by no2yes at Citysearch

If you're skeptical about spending a lot of money, but want some good grub, 15 Restaurant is A MUST! Just go any weekday from 5-7pm and sample their 15 at 15 meals. Talk about gourmet! I had the kobe burger and the mac & cheese. The burger was cooked to perfection. I like it medium well. It was tasty, juicy and big (perfect for my appetite)., and the mac & cheese was terrific! I barely had room for dessert which was delicious as well. The place is classy, yet casual and the servers & owners are very friendly and approchable. I'm going back to 15 on my next Dodger's game, and I'm taking all my friends with me. There's nothing like a fine burger and a beer after a good game!!!

  • Pros: Their kobe burger is a must-try!
  • Cons: parking can be challenging, but the food is all worth it...

Overrated

by brian1947 at Citysearch

The food was very salty and my appetizer was borderline burnt. I had the Cod for an entree and it came out cold and under cooked. The room was too loud. It was my second time there. I had a bad experience the first time, Went back to give it another shot and it was consistently bad. Not in a great area...didn't feel safe going and leaving the place.

My new favorite place

by Jsnake23 at Citysearch

I ate dinner here the other night with some friends, and I have to say that it was one of the best meals I have had in quite a while. The salmon was cooked so perfectly that it cut like warm butter, and the flavors were tremendous. The server we had was very friendly and was right there when a drink was almost empty or a plate was finished. I would also like to thank the owner for not price gouging his clientele. Everything was priced the way it should be, and this will now be the place I think of first when I want to have a great meal out in the neighborhood.

  • Pros: Ambience, Food, Service, Price
  • Cons: Can't think of one
