In Short
Sweeping and modern, with crisp white dining chairs and the expansive Pacific Ocean within spitting distance, the restaurant at David Geffen's Malibu Beach Inn has always kept the casual visitor at arm's length. Unless you were staying at the quaint boutique hotel, you were not allowed to dine. But time's do change, and the breezy, sand-toned eatery is now more welcoming than ever, allowing day-trippers from the city and relaxed beachside locals to take advantage of a three course menu featuring options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The offerings hang tight to seasonal California ideals and flirt nicely with elements of pan Asian-cooking inspiration. For breakfast, lemon pancakes with fresh blueberries, and egg white omelettes stuffed with tomato and avocado, start the day off. Healthy lunch options include the expected cobb salads and club sandwiches. And dinner goes directly to the fish: Lobster ravioli served in a saffron and cream sauce, Atlantic salmon paired with a champagne-mango sauce, and a grilled Barramundi (firm, white meat fish from Australia) filet in a white wine-based sauce are standout catches.
