Great place

by EJH

I'm a regular here, as 8 ounce is at the end of my street. This place has excellent food for how reasonable the prices are. The burgers are tasty - not as good as, say, Father's Office, but for they are absolutely quality burgers and the prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to what you'd expect. The menu isn't huge, but there's a large array of toppings and sauces for the burgersand the menu goes well with the ambience, which is a New Yorky feeling gastro-pub. Don't overlook the short rib grilled cheese, which is phenomenal. Friendly wait staff, lively yet non-pretentious bar scene. Would highly recommend. Good happy hour spot, as well.

  • Pros: Cazh ambience, value
  • Cons: none

oh, how i LOVE LOVE LOVE 8 oz

by sztumpf

the burgers are PERFECT, from the juiciness of the patty down to the airy lightness of the bun, to the thin strips of lettuce...attention to detail, I tell you! i've had their beef, turkey and fish burgers... all FANTASTIC! oh, and the sides are great also! i've had the fries, the exquisite onion rings and the broccolini... c'est magnifique, MUAH!

i dropped by earlier today for takeout and asked for a tub of their thousand island dressing, which is pure GENIUS), and which I very well know they don't sell except in teeny cups. Not only were they kind enough to give me a coffee cup full... they sent me off with a heart filled with hope... saying that they are considering the idea of selling their dressings in bottle size. YES PLEASE!

one question: i always ask if the meat is organic, which is one of the reasons i eat there... and the waiters always say yes, but aren't very reassuring... anyone know this to be a fact, do tell!

  • Pros: the food!
  • Cons: uhhh, i got nothin'

Great Libations. Tasty Food. Reasonable Prices.

by YouCanEatWhateverYouWant

Checked out 8oz. this past sunday night around 8:30 with 5 friends. Despite a wait slightly longer than quoted, our night was memorable. While waiting for our table we were able to grab 3 seats at the bar and order a round before being sat. The bartender, Brandon, stirs up some dynamite cocktails; Lavender Mojito being my weapon of choice, and tasty it was. Another had the basil elderflower drink and others enjoyed the beer selection. We were sat just before ordering a 2nd round. Now, for a sunday it was packed, but our service was pretty great. We lucked out and scored a booth towards the back of the restaurant. We started with some kobe corndogs, cheese curds, artichokes and two of those famous grilled cheeses. All were quite good, but that grilled cheese stood out most. Now for what matters, burgers! Between all 6 of us, all of the "pre-made" burgers were ordered (they have an option to build your own) I adjusted my 8oz slightly, i did medium rare with bel paese cheese, arugala, tomato, onions, heirloom ketchup and purple mustard (delicious take on a traditional french dijon) I read some complaints about the bun, but i didnt have any. I enjoyed it, a la brea bakery brioche-like bun with onion baked atop. Yeah, it was good. Others had a sesame seed bun, which brought us back to backyard BBQ's; no complaints there! Aside from a 3rd...maybe 4th round of drinks we passed on desserts, but those shakes looked incredible. Definitely worth the trip for anyone wanting a fun night out and tasty food in a loud, vibrant atmosphere.

  • Pros: the food and drinks.
  • Cons: be prepared to wait for a table between 8-10; ANY night!

Delicious!

by foodie2004

Went for lunch for the first time this afternoon. I've been wanting to try 8oz. because I loved Table 8, so I was really excited when a colleague suggested we meet there for a quick business lunch. 8oz. is AWESOME! I loved the way the place looks, and the food is great. I had the veggie burger which is totally delicious. It's not some nasty boca burger after thought like you usually get when you order a veggie burger. It tastes substantial and really flavorful. The best part is that 8oz has gluten-free buns! I asked the waiter on the off-chance they would have them and I was pleasantly shocked when he said they had them and could put my burger on one. Super awesome! We also shared fries, and the potato skins (total must have) and an ice cream shake. My business buddy had one of the real burgers and he said it was one of the best burgers he's ever tasted. I wanted to try one of the cocktails because they sounded so good, but didn't think it would be professional if I got wasted! Ha ha. I'm planning on going back again soon with some friends, especially since the prices are so reasonable.

  • Pros: veggie burger, gluten-free buns, yummy everything
  • Cons: they don't deliver!

great neighborhood spot

by jacksprat87

It is was it is.... A relaxed neighborhood "pub" unpretentious and friendly service with really good food/ Prices are reasonable and drinks are great. Definately a fun casual spot to hang out with a group and not feel like you can;t pay your rent...that's hard enough right now

  • Pros: relaxed fun place to hang out

Lousy Expensive Burgers

by jraposa

Went with a large group and expected a lot more once I saw the menu. I ordered the Melrose burger. It came out on a cheap, store bought bun that wasn't even toasted. The burger tasted of nothing but the bland, thick bun. The fries were nothing to rave about either.

I would have expected much more seeing who the chef is but maybe this explains why he already has one failed restaurant.

  • Pros: Service was good.
  • Cons: Lousy Burgers & dirty, unkept interior including filthy bathroom.

Amazing Burgers

by harvardkiddo

The staff started the night with impeccable service. The beers were awesome. The burgers were great. I love that you can customize with various cheeses and toppings, from the comfort to the exotic. And don't leave without trying a shake. Usually I avoid dessert, but the shakes are a must. Rich, creamy perfection. The vibe is comfortable and classic. Love it!!

  • Pros: amazing value
  • Cons: none

Great night out and only 22 bucks

by annag777

went to 8oz on Sunday night, first of all it was packed which I was surprised to see as everywhere else was so quiet... We know, we had a few drinks at other places... But check this out my friends and I we had a great meal apps, burgers, beer, maybe even a cocktail and it was only $22 a person that's ridiculously cheap. We had a great time and spent only TWENTY TWO DOLLARS .. I think my drink at STK cost that much...

good selection of beers, not so good burgers

by bc3855

Six of us went last Saturday for lunch. The service was good. The milkshakes super rich & creamy. The burgers were only so-so. For 8 oz. both med & the med rare burgers were really small. By far NOT the best burger I have ever had. The onion rings had so much batter you couldn't taste the onion. Frech fries were good. The service was good. The beers & variety to pick from was good.
