Marina is THE best
by lafoodster at Citysearch
I've been going to Marina for years, and all the hype is justified. She's skilled, patient, and above all she's honest -- she'll tell you when those pants just don't look right, that jacket is out of date or those jeans would be just as good with a simple $10 hem as with a more pricey original hem. She's done everything from sweatpants to my wedding dress. On the rare occasion that something doesn't come out as expected, she rectifies the situation with no questions asked. The only downside to the high quality is that the small shop on Wilshire is often a full house, and there can sometimes be quite a wait.
- Pros: honesty, service, quality
- Cons: small shop can get crowded, waits can be long
Marina Gets It Right
by E Concierge at Citysearch
Marina understands the many dimensions of fashion for individuals. She helps me decide whether to keep new items that I purchase, and advises me on boutiques and websites to shop. My clothes look better and can be worn in more ways thanks to Marina. Meeting her has been an important step in upgrading my image from grunge (I'm from the 90s) to uniquely sophisticated for my career. Thank you!
- Pros: Quality Intelligent Intuitive Work
THE BEST IN LA
by Lynette2005 at Citysearch
Marina has named her business for exactly what it represents. 1ST CLASS TAILORS is by far the absolute best place in LA to have your clothes tailored. It doesn't matter if the piece is worth $10 or $1000, you're going to receive the same high quality workmanship, caring advice and timely alterations. She will NOT do unecessary alterations just to make money. If you don't need it - she's going to tell you. Her knowledge of how a garmet should fit your body is incredible. High Five, Marina!!!!!
FINALLY found a good tailor in LA...
by AK1USC at Citysearch
I've been looking for a tailor I trust in LA since I moved here seven years ago, and after trial and error this is the only one I trust.
Marina has fantastic knowledge of what she's doing, and she's incredibly upfront. She will decline to do any work if the garment doesn't need it or isn't well-suited for alterations, and she points out every single potential issue ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect. And what to expect is expert tailoring - everything I bring there looks amazing afterward.
It is a little pricey for routine alterations (taking in shirts, hemming pants), but for suit jacket alterations and other big tasks she and her staff can do WONDERS at very competitive prices.
Definite recommend.
- Pros: Marina has a great eye and cares how her work makes you look
- Cons: Parking, and maybe a few bucks too expensive for some jobs
Sensitive Tailoring!
by Nanci at Citysearch
I have know Marina for way over a decade, and I have to say that even after I moved away from the area, I will travel over thirty minutes to see her. I have never had to bring any garment back for adjusting. She gets it right the first time around. She is also brutally honest. If she does not think it is worth fixing she will tell you. You can't get any better than that.
I love her!!!
- Pros: I travel 30 minutes for Marina
- Cons: Parking lot is tight
If you want to look great in your clothes, new or old ones..
by RobinBurg at Citysearch
Marina, the owner, is a magician! She can help you
update your current wardrobe. She is always honest with her opinion of your new and old clothes. If something is not right, she will either fix it or tell you when it is not worth fixing. From tailoring to wardrobe consulting, she is the best! My husband also trusts her opinion on his clothing.
When there is no parking space, the vallet of the shopping center will take your car so parking is not an issue.
- Pros: The owner is up on current styles plus classic looks
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
Best Tailor in Los Angeles

Every word you read about how amazing Marina is totally true.
I just had my first experience with First Class Tailors!!!
I went in Friday before New Years, after reading some glowing recommendations online....
3 Jackets, 5 pairs of pants to alter....
I walk in ( no problem parking), and Marina takes care of me better than Stacy and Clinton on "What not to wear" ... She consults with me about clothing and style, and then she school's me on what I should be looking for when shopping. Not only about styles, but also she suggested brands to try that would look good on me... (I especially was looking for some jeans ideas)
She says the standard week to complete the work and 50% down cash. Fine with me if the clothes look good, right? A week seemed fair enough... and there was New Years in there...
The prices she quoted were all the same as everyone else around here, so I was totally cool with her rates......
So, today, Monday, she calls me and says " Everything is ready!!!"
DAYS EARLY!!!
I was so thrilled... I had been out shopping for jeans with her recommendations in mind, and I was wanting to bring some jeans I bought to her, if my other clothes turned out right.
I went and tried on my clothes.... WHAT!!!@!!! RIDICULOUS!!! The best work I have ever seen... truly perfect, and I am so hard to please....Two of my jackets were kinda lame originally, but Marina totally remade the jackets and now they are INCREDIBLE....!!! Also, she narrowed the legs of some of my pants, making them just perfect for MY body... WOW!
Everything is totally perfect... the pants, the jackets... AMAZING! PERFECTION!!!
So, I left the jeans to the Master!!!
I can't wait to get them back...
Marina, You are totally a rockstar in my book... I can not thank you enough for making me look so good.
Everyone else, If you want an amazing wardrobe, go to Marina... she is truly your golden ticket for getting perfect fitting clothing!
- Pros: Amazing fashion advice and perfect work!
- Cons: Not in my neighborhood ( cant really think of anything bad about this place)
Truly First Class

I had a Vera Wang dress altered here in August for a wedding. The work was extensive and complicated. Esperanza did an incredible job. She is an expert, and I truly feel lucky to have found her. This dress alteration could have been a disaster; but, thankfully, the dress turned out exactly as I had hoped it would. I am grateful for the Esperanza and the rest of the staff's expertise and professionalism. My only advise is to plan more complicated alterations in advance.
Best tailor I"ve found since I've moved to LA!

Marina, is truly a find!
She is just incredibe, will send you away if she thinks the item isn't worth spending
money on to fix.. she's so honest!
And her work if flawless. I've searched for a great tailor for years, and a friend
at my gym highly praised Marina, and boy was she right!i!
My husband also thinks she's terrific as well.
Her prices are very reasonable, and her work is exceptional. Can't ask
for anything more in a tailor.. plus she's such a doll to work with!

Best place ever to get your clothes tailored!
by jenzen1 at Citysearch
This is the first time I've ever had my clothes professionally tailored. I read the great reviews and, believe me, it really is as incredible as everyone says it is. I was nervous going in, but Marina put me right at ease. She's honest, which I appreciate. She has an incredible eye for what works and what won't work. I left feeling great about my experience. Marina is wonderful and the best at what she does. I won't even think about going anywhere else to get my clothes tailored.
