Fantastic!!
by femmenikita
I am an Indian from the east coast, so I am used to Indian food of certain quality, and after trying various places in Los Angeles, I have to say with pure certainty that this is the best Indian kitchen in Los Angeles. The dishes are authentic and tasty, the tandoori meats are succulent and juicy, and it's clear that they use the freshest ingredients. Plus, the staff, as rag tag as they may be, are attentive and truly aim to please.
I would say A MUST! And try the daily buffets. Buffet's tend to be the most cost effective way to enjoy Indian food, and theirs is fresh, hot, and full of unique dishes that are not the typical dishes you will find in other North Indian style restaurants.
Enjoy!!
- Pros: Excellent buffet, attentive staff, best Indian food in LA
- Cons: The decor could use a little work
Small Portions & Expensive Prices
by DisgraceToIndianF00D
If you like to pay a lot of money for small portions of potatoes and peas, then this is your place.
- Pros: Nice Tables
- Cons: Small Portions, Expensive, No A/C
Worst Indian food in the greater L.A. area
by Liliths8686
If you like Indian food, stay away from this place! The food is completely bland. The curries taste like cardboard, the chutney is watered down and tasteless, even the naan is dry and flavorless! I couldn't believe this place had the nerve to call itself an Indian restaurant. The service is HORRIBLE also. I ordered three items, and they got all three dramatically wrong (I ordered lentil soup and got cauliflower instead!). Even the water they serve smells and tastes like old chlorine! STAY AWAY!
- Pros: None!
- Cons: Insultingly bad food, terrible service, and a high price.
Avoid delivery

I've had take out once before, wasn't that great (not that take out can compare to dining in the restaurant, i'm sure...)
tried ordering take out again, in the last month, an order that cost me $32 has gone up to $46 --- given the quality of the food and lukewarm service over the phone, I'd recommend against this place.
love it, can't believe it's not busier!

I have known this restaurant for a year now, since I moved to Santa Monica and since they changed owners, managers, servers, chefs and kitchen staff. I just realized that I should be writting a review about my numerous experiences at India's Oven on Wishire.
The food is wonderfull, finer than most expensive Indian restaurants, some of my favorites (forgive the spelling) are the okra, the aloo gobi (cauliflower and potatoes), the chicken masala, the jeera pulao rice and the garlic naan (it might seem very basic, but just try it there!!).
The waitress is very professional and friendly, she will make your experience just as enjoyable as a 4 stars restaurant, changing your silverwares between courses and making sure to get the right temperature for every dish (spiciness), she also makes great cocktails (ask about the mango lassi-rhum martini). The general manager is always around to help out and make sure everything is running smoothly.
I have never been there for lunch, I heard they are offering a buffet, it is, I am sure another style and a different crowd.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in great food, great service and no attitude!
- Pros: food!!! service, parking, relaxed atmosphere
good food

I've been to a majority of the Indian restaurants in the Los Angeles area and, in my opinion, this is one of the few Indian restaurants worth going to in the area. The owner is really friendly, the service is excellent, and the food is amazing.
- Pros: Food, Service
- Cons: Ambience
WORST INDIAN FOOD IN LA - If you could even call it Indian or Food
by punkin1
They claim to be the "Best Indian in LA". According to who? A person on the verge of starvation with no taste buds? Nah, I would rather starve to death. This food is sick! Not even Indian! The tandoori chicken wasnt tandoori. The raita was plain yogurt, no salt, cucumbers, nothing! Besides the tandoori chicken, there was only one other dish with meat and 3 vegetable dishes. All bland, boring and left me very hungry. Ive been to over 20 Indian Buffets in LA and this is by far the worst. Save yourself the time, money and dissapointment. Go anywhere but here!!
Not quite as good as La Brea

I'm a huge fan of the India's Oven off La Brea and was a little disappointed in its Westside chapter. Still, it's some of the best Indian food you can find in LA.
New Owner

My hubby's friend treated us to India's Oven for lunch. Talk about an ideal experience. I was a little apprehensive to go after reading the reviews on Citysearch, but it turns out there is a new owner and chef. The owner, server and bus boy were all so nice and accomodating. The food was more than excellent. I'd consider having them cater a party.
EXCELLENT!

Haven't had good indian food since i left London in 2002. Took a friend there on Friday night had the Sag Paneer and it was delicious. Everthing from the Nan to the Chicken Tika Masala was on point. I have found my new Indian Restaurant in my new home.
- Pros: The FOOD, Service
- Cons: None
