Kao Pau Shu, the original line by Bosnian designer Naida Begeta has arrived in LA. Her new boutique on Beverly Boulevard is white and airy, leaving the clothes room to make a colorful statement. Her signature look --"Stripe Yourself"--uses ribbons sewn together to form the fabric for her clothing and bags. The effect is highly three dimensional--a statement in construction and form. Rendered in nylon, the look is sporty with a futuristic feel, in satin it becomes shimmering glamour. Either way, these are clothes that while fashion-forward, exist outside of trend. Her technique seems to offer infinite color combinations from monochrome to tonal and eclectic. You can easily imagine a hipster or a grandma in these clothes. Naida makes each piece herself in L.A., which makes the moderate pricing--bags range from $60-$400, while dresses start at around $140--pretty impressive.
