Slightly different from Korean BBQ
by jj_mojo
First off, if you don't like tabletop grilling, skip this place altogether, you'll have sparse options. That being said, this restaurant may be a little pricy for BBQ. But it is worth the price. The taste is slightly different for that of Korean BBQ. The decor is much better than others in that vicinity. I recommend this place. Parking is a nightmare.
- Pros: Differnt than Korean BBQ
- Cons: More expensive than Korean BBQ
Ryo (server)
by taylortaylor
The food is always perfect. If you want to try Japanese BBQ you MUST try this place. We go there weekly basis. Last 4 times we had one of the best servers. His name is Ryo and very kind & friendly. He can answer any questions you have. He's a Japanese American and speak both English and Japanese fluently. Try to go there when he is present. We go back again soon. lol. :)
- Pros: salted flavor meat is excellent.
- Cons: parking is small but valet is available and expect waiting on weekends
Taking Japanese BBQ to a whole new level.....
by weakticket
I am always in search for an amazing korean or japanese BBQ and Manpuku takes it to a whole new level from amazing meats to excellent service. I visit Manpuku 2-3 times a week, go and enjoy the best Japanese BBQ in all of Los Angeles.
- Pros: Everything is thumbs up!
- Cons: Wait time can be crazy call ahead!

Bestest BBQ in cali!!!
by atomz
My visit to Manpuku was excellent! They have three different flavors of meat which is salted ( this is the best), marinated, and the ponzu flavor. All three are super delicious, but the salted flavor is the best. You guys have to try this one its super good. Their service and the resturant environment is fantastic. I came here on my graduation and i guess the manager noticed it i guess and gave us a big suprise at the end of our meal! Great place to go with ur family-!!! Thanks a lot Manpuku!!!
- Pros: Good food!!!!
- Cons: parking is difficult
Another good restaurant on Sawtelle
by inder22
I really enjoyed this bbq. The food is obviously fresh and prepared exactly to order ;) It is always fun to sit and cook your own food. The prices are reasonable and occasionally the wait can be long. Each griled item can be small, so just keep that in mind when ordering.
The restaurant has good seafood selection and a lot of nice meats. Not the best place to take a vegetarian (only one grill per table) but otherwise a nice restaurant.

Dining experience in this restaurant makes life worth living!
I highly recommend to visit it especially at those moments of suicidal feelings everybody experiences once in a while, and not only. Great for a date or friends gathering. Grilling your own food on the table makes the dining experience exciting and adventurous sometimes:) Moreover, you cook according to your own palate.
We order for two (and this is to get quite full): two plates of Rib eye thin cut beef pieces (the leanest beef) and we ask to season it the way they do other beef, i think it's with garlic or onions, pepper etc. 1 plate of Vegetables. 2 bowls of Seaweed salad (mmm!), Rice, and recently Garlic (keep it in that tiny bowl on the grill- don't put garlic directly on the grill, ok, you can do it if you want). There are plentiful of delicious things - just look at what other people order:). Small place. Almost always busy to full capacity - better to make a reservation.
- Pros: delicious
- Cons: be careful not to get burned, food falls into the grill sometimes
delicious!!!

I tried Manpuku for the first time last night. Our server was extremely pleasant and patient. (We were a group of 3 extremely chatty women.) I tried the Yakkejun and it was one of the yummiest things I've ever had! It's a noodle soup made with semi-chewy rice noodle (might be glass noodle), beef and tofu in an extremely flavorful broth. I definitely plan to go back!
- Pros: Food!
- Cons: Parking
One of my favorite places
by ilovemymickey
Manpuku is one of the few places I frequent on a monthly basis. 99% of the time, the meat is absolutely fresh (only one bad incidence with no-so-red beef). The service is always excellent. Waiters and waitresses are friendly and not intrusive on your dining experience at all. My favorites are the karubi (rib-eye slices of fresh beef), salted chicken breast, regular marinated chicken breast, and the salted pork. The beef and chicken generally goes for $4.50/plate. The pork is about $9.50 and comes with Korean-style condiments like wrapping lettuce, kimchi, etc. One thing I never forget to order is the wakame salad (seaweed)- red leaf lettuce, cucumbers, and seaweed ($5).
- Pros: Fresh food, Friendly service
- Cons: Busy weekends, Parking
oh so good!

This place was a little intimidating to me at first. Mainly because I had never had Tokyo BBQ before. When I did finally try it the wait staff was friendly and eager to show us how to prepare the food. They even suggested a few things for us - being begginers.
We have been regular customers for over two years now. My husband and I are there at least three times a month. They are open late but always busy.
We bring friends as often as possible. some of whom come to town just for Manpuku, and visit us as an after thoght.
- Pros: Fantastic food, Great value , great service
- Cons: Very popular, small restaurant
