I love this place! On one hand the lines are long and they only take cash. On the other hand, my family has been coming here for years, I mean YEARS and the food is the same as it was years ago. They don't try to have everything on the sushi menu like other places or be too fancy that you'll wait forever. They get you in, fed with good food, and then get you out. They have a lot of regular customers, as we see each other in line.

Pros: The food is the same as it was years ago

Cons: long lines, cash only, parking

Hide has such good sushi at such an affordable price! This place is awesome to go to after work with friends. It's small and the line is always long but worth the wait. Try to come before 7pm to beat the crowd. This is totally a once-a-week restaurant that everyone can enjoy.

Pros: Great sushi

Cons: Long lines

Decent sushi at good prices and good service. There is always a wait. but it's worth it. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but NBD.

Pros: Food, value

Cons: wait, parking

The sushi is good and I like that they offer the basics including tempura and teriyaki. The only problem is that there isn't much seating and I can't help feeling a bit cramped when I'm there. But, even if there is a wait, it usually isn't a long one. Also, they only take cash!

Pros: Sushi/food, well priced

Cons: Not enough seating

Used to go here alot, Never been WOWED. Lots of Japanese patrons so I guess they must be doing something right! Lots on the menu, fish is fresh but not as fresh as Komasa, Ankimo is good. I heard management had been changed and the standard went down, Fish is decent and probably fresher than most restaurants. Used to go here quite alot before I changed loyalties. For the price though, I would rather go to Komasa.

Pros: Fresh fish, decent sushi

Cons: small cuts, not the best

Yes, the place is crowded, but definitely worth the wait. I was here on a Tuesday night for a birthday dinner with my significant other. We arrived around 7pm, and the place was already packed, but we only waited for about 10-15 minutes. When you write your name on the board, write"S/T" if you don't care if you sit at the sushi bar or table. Only caveat is if you sit at the bar, you can only order sushi, but that's all I order anyway. The sushi is amazing! So we sat at the bar and ordered: 2 spicy tuna rolls, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, salmon skin roll, yellowtail roll (b/c they were out of the spicy codfish roll), spanish mackerel, scallop special, unagi and cucumber roll, and albacore. And green tea and miso soup. Yes, a lot of food, but we like to eat! My favorites were the spanish mackerel, spicy tuna roll, salmon, and yellowtail. I didn't like the salmon skin roll or scallop special. The total bill was around $55 for the two of us. I love this place. As others have said, it's very simple, clean, fresh sushi - no fancy rolls here. Definitely will be back. Highly recommend.

Pros: fresh sushi, quick service, parking (lot or around neighborhood)

Cons: crowded, usually a wait, cash only

For those of you who think spending loads of $ and a beautiful, trendy ambience translates to great Japanese food - please go to Nobu and the like. But if you like the freshest fish available and a fair size piece at that on rice, good teriyaki and combo plates with generous portions - Hide's is the best. They only get what's fresh (Fish) - so there may be days when they don't have the kind of fish you want, but if it's not fresh you shouldn't want it either. Owner is Japanese and the "Itamaisan's" are Japanese. Pleasant & traditional professionals - not rock and roll, flashy sushi chef wannabee's. Best bets - Salmon skin salad, Salmon or Beef Teriyaki a la carte with sushi or sahimi on the side or as appetizer. (My Mom's from Japan and she's picky - we go there often) If you go often - they get to know you and the chef's will let you know your favorite fish is in - so you don't miss out.

Pros: Fresh Fish, Good portions, Valet Parking

Cons: Busy, Small sushi Counter, Crowded room

You can't find a better place for the quality of sushi you'll get here at a relatively affordable price. It's easily better than your Sushi Macs but still a notch lower than your Nobus of the world.

Pros: Excellent value

Cons: can be a long wait

Hide. Hide. Hide. I go here at least once a week. The chef on the left corner is funny, as well as great. The fish is always top notch in terms of taste, as well as freshness. Prices are great as well. If I am looking for both rolls as well as sushi, there is no other place in my books. On average, I come out very satisfied on about $40 including tax and tip. There are a few downsides to this place, although I'd still highly recommend it. Parking is a headache unless you park it in their free lot, no fresh wasabi or real ginger, and THE WAIT!! Sometimes over 45minutes for the bar. Go early to avoid most of the stress.

Pros: Excellent fish. Great prices

Cons: No fresh wasabi/ginger, difficult parking, long wait

Hide is the best sushi in Los Angeles based on cost & quality. Its a cash based place and they have a very thoughtful atm machine inside to make it easy. The combination meals are the bomb. i have never had better tempura anywhere. its the right amount of crispy and hot. The tuna is unbelievable and the only place i will eat salmon sushi is at hide. 2 people can eat... a lot for about $50.00. I thought that sushi roku was the best based on fish freshness but hide is way way better. Its family style sushi, not a lot of atmosphere but excellent food. if you go on an off time ( 2pm on a weekend) you can get seated easily otherwise expect a wait thats well worth it.

Pros: very fresh fish

Cons: ambience
