Hollywood's cool late-night do-it-yourself Korean BBQ find.

by Aram Brazilian at Citysearch

This red-hued barbeque joint is a true Los Angeles melting pot where you'll see everyone from Korean families getting their grill on to cool club kids steadying themselves for a night out on the Cahuenga corridor. The red lighting and white and blue accents are a nod to the primary colors of the Korean flag, but they also reflect the restaurant's accessibility to American customers. The menu is written in English, so you don't have to worry about knowing your kimchi from your congee when you walk in the door. Start with the tofu soup, or if you like things hot, the spicy brisket soup, and choose between steak, ribs, chicken, shrimp or vegetable plates to prepare at your own tabletop grill. Save room for the green tea creme brulee, and be sure to check out the jellyfish aquarium behind the bar on your way out.

New Favorite Spot!

by NicoleMyden at Citysearch

It's rare to get me up to Hollywood, but I have to say that SHIN is one of my new favorite spots. It's a great location, right on the corner of Wilcox and Selma, and the food is amazing! What I love most about SHIN though is that the space itself is great. It's spacious where I'm not overwhelmed and feel like I can enjoy dinner with friends and enjoy the outside patio without having to deal with 'all the usual' that comes with the Hollywood scene. I've been telling people about SHIN for months since I went on New Years and we recently had a great Citysearch event there! I love it and can't wait to go back! If you're looking for great Korean BBQ, a great bar and a nice evening out with your friends to a fabulous new spot, check it out!!!

  • Pros: Great food, great space!

Bring your party here!

by Yvonne747 at Citysearch

So I wandered in here on Halloween of all nights. As I stepped inside the doorway and found myself immersed in it's darkly inviting elemental world I realized I had just discovered one of LA's newest gems and it glistened in the night!

The artistically lit deep red walls gave a fire-like ambience of energy enticing one's hungers of many kinds. Rich woods, the metal of the grills built into the tables and the shock of cobalt light from the bar which included of all things a spherical water world of jellyfish coupled with the pulse of driving music made me feel as if I had tapped into an Angelean artery as I was tempted to get up and dance.

Let's not forget the food! The menu may look minimal but it's reality is maximum. There wasn't much room on my table after I gave into my carnivore impulse and chose a half order of ribs (to be grilled before me) which I highly recommend and came with a multitude of appetizers. YUM! I liked them all.

I sat listening to the sizzle of of ribs and enjoying their aroma as I jotted words on a page in another form of poetry Simon the owner dropped by and introduced himself wondering who had found his personal treasure on this particular night. He's a great guy you can just tell. Eddie who waited on me was as good as they come. The bartender was also attentive. I thank you all.

There was only one thing missing here and that was a dozen friends to share the experience. So if you're still in search of a great place with great people and great food you haven't been to Shin. So go check it out and bring the crew with you ready to have a great time. Simon and friends will take care of you.

I'll definitely be back. I never made it to dessert.

  • Pros: Wilcox on the corner between Sunset and Hollywood blvd, parking lot close by
  • Cons: can't think of one

You have to try this new restaurant! I no longer have to go all the way to K town to get the best Korean BBQ in town! Terrific food with good ambiance and reasonable prices. Service is also excellent.
