Theives at this car wash.
by Alice Esally
I went to this car wash, the car wash was ok. Gave the guy 5.00 tip. When I got home, I found that 10.00 worth of quarters were gone. Whoever lifted the quarters did not even leave one. When I called to speak with the "manager" he almost implied that I could be wrong. I am POSITIVE the quarters were stolen from this car wash. When I looked on the internet to find the phone number, I saw that many people have had problems with theft from this car wash.. For shame.
- Cons: Sticky fingers
Stole my hair pin!
by JenniferDuel
The car wash is average, but only thing I don't understand why would he need to take my pink flower hair pin!
If you go there, make sure you have nothing in your car!
- Pros: coupon
What a scam!! Horrible!
by rshpringer
This is the WORST car wash EVER. a year ago i had som electronics stolen from my car, and the company denied it; then a few months ago, my mom went there - against my advice - for a detailing service, and they took the paint off the car! Then denied it, of course... don't take your car here!! Go to the Wilshire West car wash at 2320 Wilshire in santa monica, it's SO MUCH BETTER
- Pros: none!!
- Cons: everything!! cheaters, liars, thieves
AVOID THiS CAR WASH EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE A LITTLE FARTHER
by ABBBBBBBBB
Steer clear of this place. Even if you have to drive for a while. The only reason I went back is because I got lazy and bought a ten-pack of washes there. What a mistake!
1. The quality of the wash is poor. They don't vacuum well. I actually saw the guys toss the end of the host into my car, shake it around and that was it for the vacuum job.
2. They are reckless. I close the windows on my car always. One of the guys did not close the tail gate of my car completely and the inside got flooded. Also, when pulling my car from the wash tunnel to the drying area, they ran over the guide rail - thankfully my car has a high clearance.
3. The wash quality is poor. My car simply came out dirty.
4. I always have to ask for a towel to finish the job they don't do. I'm not talking about being a nit-picky customer - I'm talking about the basics of drying the car so there are no water spots or remains of soap, vacuuming in the most basic of quality, and getting the soot off the wheels.
To top this all off (and I have not listed all my gripes against them), when I complain, they give me the run around regarding who the manager is (e.g. pointing me to five different guys, none who are the manager and then telling me the manager is back and when I go to the back, telling me he is in front, and when I go front telling me he is hanging out having a smoke behind the wash tunnel). The manager is actually the older gray haired guy, whose name is Juan . It's easy to tell who he is - he is the one who does not look at you when you talk to him, does not give a damn about you, about the workers, about the fact they scuffed your car, about your rain check, about you cleaning your own car nor about where the guy disappeared with your keys 10 minutes ago - but mostly he does not give a damn about you.
Finally, this car wash was busted for breaking minimum wage laws. Look up up in the LA Times, March 23, 2008, Local News Section.
- Pros: close to my house
- Cons: everything from the horrible service and wash to the over priced merchandise
CAN be a great place wash your car...
by dubcee7
Like I said in my headline, it CAN be a great place to wash your car, as long as you know how to pick the services.
Before I go on, I'd like to say that this place is a HAND WASH, not a machine wash with giant bristles that will scratch your paint to nothingness, so that's an automatic plus. I detail cars (usually my own and friends) as a hobby, and I know the ins and outs of car detailing.
Anyways, let's start with the basics: there's three basic washes, which are regular, super, and ultimate. They are all pretty much the same, except Super and Ultimate gives you tire dressing. The differences between Super and Ultimate are nearly zero, with the exception of "3 Coats of Rainbow Wax", which is a false claim since it's not a true wax, and because they only spray some crud on your car while they dry it.
These basic washes are great for your everyday driver and it does the job, but I would not recommend it for your cherished and babied vehicles, as the wash isn't as thorough as it could be.
For your cherished and babied vehicles, I'd recommend the VIP wash. It is $29.95 and it is a much higher quality wash. For this wash, they don't run your car through the assembly line wash like the basic washes, but rather they take it under a tent while two guys hand wash it. This wash is much more thorough, and is comparable to when I wash my own car. (Unfortunately, I don't have access to a hose right now to do that).
Afterwards, you could add on a detailing job for 50 bucks (if money isn't an issue). However, (for those who aren't made of money, but still care about their car) I recommend instead JUST getting the VIP wash and then go to Kragen or Autozone and buy a microfiber cloth and a bottle of Quick Detailing spray (total cost: around 10$, and 20 minutes of your time) and detail your car yourself.
It's easy: just spray and wipe.
Bluewave gets the job done, and if that's what you're looking for, then this is the place to go.
POORLY RAN BUSINESS!
by gynxster
I'll keep this short and simply. Do not go to this establishment. Most reviews are in agreement that both Blue Wave car washes are poorly ran businesses. The majority of the staff are rude. They have no regard for personal belongings. I've witnessed them vacuum change and perform poor vacuuming. I had to redo the job myself. When my vehicle was 2 weeks old, I noticed one of them wearing jewelry while wiping the exterior of the car. Then I noticed scratches and of course they said the scratches were already there. I made the mistake for paying for a detail, which is just a alonger car wash without much difference. DO NOT GO THERE!
Avoid Blue Wave at Santa Monica & Westwood
by smartdev
I've taken my car there a few times without a problem. The last 2 occasions however disappointed me. First I ask for a detail wax. When they are finished I notice there are white stains in the interior, probably from some spray they use. When I point it out to them they say it wasn't them. They say that I must've let something splash in my car. I argue, they walk away. I make the mistake of returning the following month. This time I left a broken necklace in a cup holder. The necklace meant nothing to me so I left it in the car, but when I got the car back, it was gone! They stole the necklace! I complained out of sheer principle, they said there was nothing there. This place has dishonest management.
HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. THEY THREW VALUABLES AWAY AND DIDN'T LISTEN. Don't ever go here!!!
by ilovedogs83
PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!! I HAD THE WORST experience ever today. First of all, I asked them to use some vinegar I brought them because it is one of the only solutions that neutralizes cat yurine. (My cat unfortunately went #1 in my car). I've had my car detailed (shampooed, etc.) before without bringing vinegar and their "solution odor" does nothing after a few days and as soon as it gets hot again the odor is right there and as strong as it was before.
They signal to me they are done and I look in the back seat, and there is my vinegar bottle unopened (after asking them TWICE to two different people that they would use it and they said "no problem".
SECONDLY, my ash tray/garbage can in the front is missing and they can't manage to find it anywhere -after searching through the disgusting huge can of trash. THIRDLY, my IPOD charger ($30) is gone, either stolen or they thought it was garbage (for some strange reason).
I am SOOO disappointed and if they continue this service and people stand up and complain - they will surely go out of business. PLEASE, for your own sake, DON'T EVER GO HERE. They are idiots, they don't listen, they steal, and they didn't even clean my car very well. I paid $100 and lost all that and then some. I demanded my money back and they said no and actually laughed. I kid you not. I'm probably taking them to small claims if this doesn't get resolved by tomorrow when they open again. Ridiculous!!
Melinda
- Pros: NONE.
- Cons: They steal, they don't listen, they don't DETAIL when you pay for it. They throw things away thinking they are trash.

and make ur car even dirtier. and its so expensive but they are all the same , a leaving u with a nasty car for $20.00
blue wave stoled my ipod, stoled couple buckets and even my pennies and corder. when i noticed right away that my ipod was missing , i went to the manager and iam only 21 and he screamed at me some Spanish guy and yelled at me that i was crazy and that i wanted to make some money and kept calling me mami and mama. i don't appreciate being called that . he needs to get fired and so does every body else who works there and they all back each other up , these spanish mexicans. i left crying and never got any money or my ipod and my money back for a mesy car wash . he told me that i was sleep walking and that i was allusional. this place needs to close down and burn. i hate them and i will never go there. if i could i would soo them. but i cant just because i had no witness, i had damages on my rims. they wash ur rims with windex. and never take the bird dodo off. plz do not go there and city search needs to stop doing bussiness with them. there giving a bad name to city search.
- Pros: not good at all
- Cons: not good at all
Why it's in the top 10?!
by TurtleVida
Blue Wave at Westwood and Santa Monica was a okay car wash. They are at a reasonable price in the west side if you have a coupon and they do a quick and quite decent job most of time. They'd missed some spots here and there from time to time, and sometimes I did a better job cleaning the windowns than their staff. But overall it is okay.
This saturday, it was a busy late afternoon. My car was out for at least 15, 20 minutes and no one was drying it. I had to ask someone to work on it after I saw the staff started to work on expensive SUVs that came out from the wash way after my Toyota SUV.
So I had to complain to the only guy on the floor that could speak English. All he said was he'd looked into it and keep saying sorry.
I believe it is because during weekends, they would have unskilled temp staff to work on cars instead of regular staff.
I've keep to this car wash for about 4 years and keep wondering why it can be at the top 10 the best car wash.
- Pros: Reasonable price with coupon
- Cons: too many temp staff
