I typically eat at Taylor's anytime I travel to LA. Their steaks are phenominal, the atmosphere is like stepping back in time and the service is exceptional. This place feels like the type of place you would be seen at 3pm sipping a martini back before we all started working 60 hour work weeks. I love it! The lunch menu is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the meals. It's worth the drive if you're looking for something classical and well above-par.

  • Pros: Great food, great service, truly vintage atmosphere
  • Cons: A little out of the way for most

I love this restaurant. It's old-school red leather booths, white linens, nice place settings. The staff is friendly, but not intrusive, and the service is great. My friend and I each had a great martini while we looked over the menu. My friend ordered the culotte steak, and I had the pan-seared tenderloin. Each was deliciously and perfectly medium rare. The meal started with a nice salad, and included mashed potatoes and a fantastic, creamy, nutty spinach side dish. We were so pleased with our meal. It was so nice, as the restaurant has that air of 1950s elegance and fine dining. Yet, we were surprised when we saw the bill. It's so inexpensive.....Just a lovely, wonderful place for dinner with a great atmosphere, great food, great service, and it won't break the bank in these difficult economic times to dine here. Go and enjoy it.

I went to Taylor's last night with three friends; we have all eaten there regularly over the past eight years, including birthday celebrations, bachelor parties, and casual dinners with friends. I have long loved Taylor's for its old-school decor, tasty but not overpriced steaks (I always get the culotte), delightfully cinnamon-y apple pie a la mode, and excellent martinis. Last night, however, our medium-rare steaks came out fully medium. Not the type to make a huge fuss, we sent back only one and asked for a replacement steak cooked rare; as anticipated, it came out medium rare. But the real problem was when the bill came: we had been charged for drinks we did not order or consume. It took conversations with at least four different people, including the hostess, bartender, server, and manager, before the bill was corrected. Arguing over false charges is not the way I like to end an evening. Between the overdone steaks and the tense argument over the bill, I don't think I will be headed back to Taylor's any time soon.

This is my first review!!! I had to write about this place! I went with a friend last night, and I'm here to tell you, the NY Cut was on point!!! I like my steaks well-done, and it was perfect! Our server, Hector(?) was a gentleman and was very attentive, though not annoying. My friend had the Pink Salmon, which she thought was delectible. I had a Grey Goose & Cranberry, which was nice & strong! Prices were a bit less expensive than those 'Hollywood/Beverly Hills' steakhouses, but that's it!!! Everything else from the cozy booths to the dim lights made me feel like I was about to dine with some of Hollywood's elite from yesteryear! I highly recommend this place!

  • Cons: Closes early

I live around the corner from Taylor's, and have been wanting to eat there for months. I didn't have any trouble with the service - in fact, the server (Fronia) was attentive and nice (although she seemed not to understand me when I asked "which is better, the mashed potatoes or the french fries?"). My problem was with the steak. Overdone and tough. Thank god it was smothered in onions, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to eat it. At one point, the waitress asked if I needed "steak sauce" - what kind of reputable steak house serves up A-1 sauce??? Also, I agree that the salad/soup should come priced together with the steak. No reason on earth for me to have to buy it all a la carte. Overall, not bad, but I probably won't be rushing back to eat there.

  • Pros: Near my house! Great Ambience!
  • Cons: Steak was overdone!

I have been going to Taylors in Los Angeles for almost ten years with family and friends. I've been to very expensive steak houses as well but always enjoyed this place because I liked the ambience and darkness inside the restaurant which made it very cozy. I recently went this past weekend after a few months for a friends birthday and noticed they had changed their menu. First of all, they raised their prices on the steaks and do not include soup and salad anymore with your meals. This does not make any sense. Salads and soups used to be included so why would they raise their prices on the meals and not include the soup or salad anymore??

Second of all, they took FOREVER to take our order and then took even longer to bring us out bread, appetizers, and food. The waitress was not apologetic at all, I almost wanted to just walk out because of the horrible service. The food is still delicious but I don't htink I will be going back there again because the service was so bad. Good taste isn't worth having bad service. I've also heard a lot more complaints about their service from friends. They will be losing a lot of business from my family and a lot of friends.

  • Pros: Great food, great ambience
  • Cons: No soup or salad included anymore even though prices went up. Service bad.

After an absolutely terrible experience during my second visit to this location (also been to the La Canada location), Taylor's has now lost any repeat value in my book. We planned a dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday, but instead we spent the evening trying to correct our dinner order with unapologetic management. When two of our five orders came out incorrectly (one being an incorrect order and the other being a barely chew-able cut of the coulotte), we tried to address the situation with the manager. But to our dismay and shock, the manager was unapologetic about the mistakes and refused our request to have the meals comped (rather, he suggested we "take it out of the tip"). Eventually, we received some resolution to the situation when my boyfriend took the situation with the other manager (she finally comped the two meals and replaced the horrible cut with an actual coulotte). But needless to say, the entire experience left us with a bad taste in our mouths -- not to mention a loss of appetite and cold plates from the interruptions.

It is clear that the quality of this historical steakhouse is declining. This appalling experience is nothing like what my boyfriend and I experienced during our first visit over a year ago. It is unfortunate that the restaurant is being managed and serviced by those who are either inadequately trained or apathetic. Either way, Taylor's is not what it was once known for.

Also, a correction about the details -- the valet is not complimentary.

  • Pros: Traditional Steaks (that is, if and when done correctly), Casual Ambience
  • Cons: Service, Quality and consistency of steaks

Ok. this is an old schooladge traditioned meals, price its great, food it is good; but, service, it is so low, poor and not well manered; its a Korean area and there should be lot's of mixed service exelence, but I found none.

Most of server's are Internationally known but not well manered, speak it is low of category, servce to clientele does not meet's average for continuance of even reg. community oriented clients, maybe just for the owner's desire, his/her - their; friend's might be the only clientele to visit this well known establishment.

I recomend service to be much more to exelency at clients satisfactory than to their own selfish desire for their own sake.

Customer service it is more highly recomended than just friendly to their own friends and families if so that it is what they do focus on. !!!

  • Pros: ambience friendlyness. ???
  • Cons: Service to poor and not well manered. !!!

When i lived in Koreatown, i actually lived a block down from this historical establishment known as Taylor's Steakhouse. i never ventured inside because i figured that it might just be some two-bit wannabe steakhouse (Plus, the surrounding neighbourhood isn't exactly all that nice or safe). However, my parents decided to indulge my meat-loving mouth for my birthday and decided to eat at Taylor's. Don't be fooled by the neighbourhood ambiance: Taylor's is classy and elegant. It may not be a Lawry's in terms of restaurant atmosphere, but it is a nice retreat away from big-city life. To the most important aspect... their steaks. They do not offer a huge number of cuts, but those that they do are all juicy and tender! Everything from their special culotte cut to their fliet mignon are mouth-watering and cooked just right. Their home steak sauce is well worth a dip too! Service is a cut above the rest; well-attentive, friendly and a good number of the servers have been there for many years, lending to their legacy as a historical gastronomic landmark. Granted, this being Koreatown, parking and space is somewhat limited, but i have never experienced any great discomfort. i have also been to their La Ca?ada location and have enjoyed the same taste and service i have come to expect from their original location. Bottom Line: a relatively affordable (and delicious!) steakhouse and a true "diamond in the rough" in this big city of Los Angeles. Bon appetit!

  • Pros: Steaks, Service, Quality
  • Cons: Parking

In Short
Taylor's dining room sports white linen tablecloths, mahogany paneling and nary a window. Entrees are flanked by soup or an iceberg lettuce salad, steamed vegetable, or either baked or mashed potatoes, window-dressing for the thick steaks. The meal is capped off with a towering slice of lemony cheesecake and a cup of joe.
