Went to this place for the first time over the weekend and it was awesome. I've always liked good drinks that are STRONG and this place delivers. The place is small and has regulars galore, so get there early if you plan on getting a seat. It's standing room only as it gets later, and there's a line outside Fridays and Saturdays. (Not sure about other nights). The drinks are not cheap, but they are worth the price! For once. There is not any food, except a tub of bar 'snax', and they only accept cash. The crowd inside is socialable and fun. The decor is great and theres a lot of things to look at. The bartenders are friendly and have tons of stories to share. Oh yeah, and also the bar is owner-operated so smoking here is allowed. That will probably turn off a lot of non-smokers, but as an ex-smoker I wasn't bothered in the least. I miss this place already and am looking forward to going again.

Want something different, try try Tiki Ti. It's a very, very small Tiki bar near the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. They havea wild assortment of drinks (no food) and some drinks require the audio participation of he crowd. It's a little strange at first but once you get into it it's fun chanting "torro torro" as the bartender pours rum. People are allowed to smoke there which wasn't appealing to me but the atmosphere and the regular polite customers made up for it. Give it a shot.

It's not very big and it doesn't look like much from the outside but once you step inside, you are transported to a world of tiki. Be warned that since it is an owner operated business, they do allow people to smoke inside the bar but it's a small inconvenience to enjoy a strong mixed drink. The founder of this bar, Ray Buhen, was a "mixologist" from Hawaii that started this bar in the 60s. The area around it has changed and Ray is no longer with us but his son Mike and grandson Mike Jr. are the guys working the bar and they are doing Ray proud. The drinks to get are the Ray's Mistake and the Bayanihan. If you are up for a challenge, order the Blood-and-Sand and enjoy the Toro!
Pros: An Original Tiki Dive Bar
Cons: Small, Parking, Smoking allowed

This little tiki shack is the cutest bar I've been to. Though it's small space can't really allow you to move around too much (they only let in a strict capacity of 50 people at a time). This father-son duo can really crank up the drinks, and they're all given funky names too~ They really go all out with decorating the place... they have hawaiian/beach paraphenelia covering every inch of the place! And the friendly, family-like vibe you get in this place is truly unique!

This bar is really fun. That's what it's all about - the bartenders are fun, the crowd is fun and the drinks are fun. Is a down and dirty fun time. I wouldn't come here if I were looking to feel "cool" or pick up, but if I'm trying to go out with the girls, get some strong drinks and laugh the night away - here's where I'll be.

I have been going to the Tiki Ti since 1971. Would have gone sooner but it was illegal! Three generations of bartenders and unlimited good times. This family owned business is held sacred in the hearts of many, many patrons. Mike and Mike Jr. are the best tropical drink Dr.s anywhere. The regulars are like extended family. Everyone is made to feel welcome. Wish I still lived just down the street. If you don't have a good time here, you need professional help! The space is small and gets packed on most nights. Go early, go late and wait, but just go!
Pros: Its all good
Cons: I live too far away now...

There's a drink for everyone here. It's small, the music varies (not the same predictable stuff), and yes the drinks are pricey. But totally worth every penny. Each drink is a work of art. If you haven't been, what the hell are you waiting for?
Pros: Atmosphere and selection of drinks
Cons: Cash only

Ok, do NOT drive from Redondo beach for this place, it's essentially a fun neighborhood place about the size of two cars. Beware of the schedule, the place used to open when the owner felt like it. This is a perfect addition to a hollywood pub crawl; the 4100 room and Red star around the corner (walking distance if needed). Drinks are cash only, strong, and taste great so beware. Beware, the place is tiny - but a great kickoff or ending place for one drink.
Pros: strong drinks that taste great; cheaper/faster than trip to hawaii
Cons: tiny, and you're unlikely to pick anyone up there. Import your own.

To the people who didnt like the place, I have a few words don't go back you take up space needed by the true patrons. Father and son team that mix the best drinks in LA. Dont be afraid to try different drinks, especially Blood N Sand(yes it's pricey but worth it), two of these will have you crawling if you can't handle your alcohol very well. Always an eclectic crowd(young and old alike), no attitudes like other bars in LA. Get there early, the line gets long and be ready to wait a while(not much space inside). If you can leave your LA attitude outside the door and know the true meaning of Aloha, you'll enjoy this place that much more. Never seen any fights break out, the bouncer/door checker is usually Mike's mom and wife, they get a lot of respect from the regulars. Enjoy.
Pros: Great Drinks, Family Owned, Good Crowd
Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking
