Debuting in 1962 as Thrif D Discount Center in Scranton, Pa., this drugstore chain became known as Rite Aid in 1968, and today is one of the largest in the nation. In addition to a pharmacy, each store carries a wide variety of health-care and household items--from nutritional supplements to cleaning supplies to snack foods. Flu clinics are held at various locations throughout the flu season.

Never Seen Such Chaos

I've literally never seen the amount of chaos I saw in this store anywhere else. I popped in one morning to have some film developed, knowing I'd be in the area for a couple hours. When I went back to retrieve my stuff, it hadn't even been processed. There was a line of about 20 people backed up at one cash register because the Rite Aid didn't have enough staff to open another one. Eventually, they made the photo guy go out and wait on people. I came back an hour later and I still had to wait about 15 more minutes for my pictures. This place is a mad house. Avoid it!
