DARK HIDEAWAY
by slurps at Citysearch
Definately agree that the attitude of the people who work there isn't always the friendliest, but who cares. The coffee and atmosphere there by far makes up for the two minutes you have to deal with the person behind the counter. I suggest you grab some coffee, one of their yummy desserts, and kick back in one of their many dark corners and people watch. Its Hollywood after all!!!!!!
- Pros: great coffee and atmosphere
- Cons: parking! OMG!!! don't go if your in a rush.
SNOTTIEST BARISTA'S IN L.A.!!
by shollywoodgirl at Citysearch
I go to this place OFTEN because I live in the Hollywood Hills & it's the only coffee shop in the area. Each time I go is terrible & I always swear I won't go again, but I always end up going back because it's so close. The two things I like about this place is the coffee (they use Italian espresso) and it's delicious, and they also allow dogs inside. However, each time I go is ruined by the terrible attitudes of the staff. They are pretentious for no reason, and very rude. I have talked to a lot of people in the area, and they all agree it's a very unpleasant place to go. PLEASE, someone open another coffee shop in the area!
- Pros: close by, allow dogs
- Cons: horrible service & wait staff, creepy, dark, gloomy
Perenially hip Hollywood haunt serves up espresso and other edibles in a vintage-furnished, daylight-deficient lounge.

In Short
Sitting in the shadow of the towering Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre, this dark caffeine dungeon is where bloodshot-eyed, shaggy-haired screenwriters and their ilk commune with their laptops among cushy couches and rigid schoolroom chairs. Revolving artwork from local artists hangs on the main room's walls while the back room evokes a Moroccan den replete with silk floor pillows and carved-wood side tables. In addition to espresso and tea, the cafe's menu includes a handful of pastries and sandwiches.
Where to begin!?
by pravada17 at Citysearch
This is my favorite place to go and regroup my thoughts and regain focus.
I literally can not think of one single negative thing to say about this place.
If you haven't been here before I recommend bringing a laptop or a book ordering an ice tea and a desert and vegging with your shoes off in the Moroccan themed dark room for a few hours.
- Pros: The anything goes enviroment!
- Cons: Cash only.
Nice location
by m_raven415 at Citysearch
For a place in Hollywood, the price is very un-Hollywood. My friend and I randomly chose this place to work for our weekly Sunday meeting. The blue interior was very nice. We had to stay close to the door because it was very dark inside. The coffee was great along with the shake that my friend had. The person working was so friendly. I totally love the location also. There are quite a few restaurants on that same block if you want a place to eat after spending the day at Bourgeois Pig.
- Pros: Great value, nice location, free wireless
- Cons: a little too dark
I love studying here

The perfect atmosphere-you can study and feel like you're out. The tuna salad is soooo good. Parking is sometimes annoying-but nothing new in LA.
Not bad for Hollywood!

A little on the expensive side, but then, yet you are paying for the atmosphere and location and a non-starbucks environment. There are many stories of Hollywood writers spending hours working here, and some locals just never leave this place. They only serve expresso and no coffee, which is fine, cause the expresso is a unique type you can't get elswhere in hollywood.
- Pros: expresso, atmosphere
- Cons: a little rude but comes with the territory
good coffee. open late.
by aira177 at Citysearch
this is a good relaxing spot to have coffee.. even late at night. the atmosphere is dark and relaxed. there's a room with pillows and tables. there's also a pool table if you wanna play. the service depends on what day you go on, because of the people that work there.
- Pros: open late.
i liked it.

i must have gone on some random weekday bc when i went, it was very chill. i took some old friends from out of town and we had a good time. there is a great italian place next door--im not crazy bout gourmet pizza bc it all tastes the same, but this place was delicious. anyway, the coffee place charges too much for nothing (thai iced tea horrible) but cool place to kick it.
ive been warned about the loud high schoolers, though, on weekends.
- Pros: atmosphere
- Cons: price, drinks
kind of silly but still enjoyable coffeehouse
by ninaemkin at Citysearch
i loved the pig a lot more when i was in high school -- it felt very cool to me.. now, in my old age, i've realized that it tries a little too hard, all the people "writing their screenplays" are secretly probably updating their myspace profiles and that it's not really that exciting. but still i love the pig! the moroccan room in the back is fun, especially for a date or with a group of friends. the pool tables are dumb (they're not level). the tables in front on the sidewalk are great for people watching, smoking and gossiping, particularly in the evening.. but good luck with parking!
