It's a lounge, not a disco hall?
by watoddusa at Citysearch
I went there for a birthday celebration and read some Citysearch reviews beforehand to see if the place was stuck up and that I needed to dress up to get in. The reviews mentioned "no attitude" "no ropes" "secret entrance" and some other, encouraging hints. Well, I guess you have to enter off the "corridor"now and there was a rope and I had a slight tinge of attitude before I told the door guy about the reivews I read. I was let in and basically had a hassle-free evening. The place is well decorated, but not spacious. My party was confined to a space that was shared by two other large groups. As the night went on, the space got smaller and I was dancing in the bathroom to show all my moves. There was plenty of action, but the music that night, was pretty straight forward "prom-style" and not my cup of tea. So, if I hit up this joint again, I am going 10-11:30ish. Enjoy!
- Pros: Decor, Service
- Cons: Space, Identity

Real bar, real people, and the only place in hollywood with a great vibe
by alexis505 at Citysearch
The bar looks great and the vibe feels good. Check their website for special events because they always have something going on throughout the week. Music isn't typical of what's going on in the rest of hollywood, which i like (not commercial radio), and it's the perfect place to throw parties, my girls and I love it here.
Best TUESDAY night HOT SPOT
by fatalblades at Citysearch
I DJ here on tuesdays, and honestly, the crowds here are pretty amazing. This definitely a NY bar in a LA setting. Very low-key, and the music is always right and danceable. Hosted by Keith Wilson (MOSCOW, BETA, 82) this night promises fantastic DJ's and always special guests. To be regularly informed, come out on a Tuesday and mix up with the crowd. Key arrival times are 10pm and DJ's spin till 2am. Never a cover, Never a list, just good times.
- Pros: Lots of Room
- Cons: Parking
This is A REAL BAR!
by degastino at Citysearch
I went to The Room on a Tues. night with a buddy of mine and I was blown away that there is an actual BAR in Hollywood! I'm sure I speak for many when I say I am so tired of the CLUBS in Hollywood. What an amazing concept they have at this place...big beautiful bar with real bartenders, live dj's that don't spin radio music (or more importantly "GET LOW") and big seating areas to relax in (without having to spend $600 for a bottle of Grey Goose). Crowd was fantastic and the back patio is where it's at!! It just feels the way a bar should feel...just chill and right without all the b.s. you usually encounter. It's NY in LA. The real NY. All you "clubhoppers" and "hollywood weekenders" stay away please! Leave this one to those of us who get it and aren't trying to fake it.
What happened to The room?????
by curlysue12 at Citysearch
This used to be my favorite bar in Hollywood. I used to like to go there because of the non pretentious vibe and mixed bag of people. Well thats all changed now. I tried to go on a Thursday night and was turned away by some kid with attitude at the door. I thought I would give it another try and went back on Sunday. The warm vibe is gone now and has been replaced with a cold institutionalized feel. Drinks are super over priced and the music was horrible throbbing techno. The place was empty and I could not even carry on a conversation with my friend due to the overly load music. Too bad about this place. It has become just another Hollywood nightclub.
- Pros: was once cool
- Cons: bad music,cold atmosphere,overpriced drinks
Thug life on the Cahuenga crawl
by haddog at Citysearch
Hootchie mammas with beer bellies and shaved headed home boys in baggies. The high price of drinks doesn't change the low caliber of clientele.
The Room is it

Just Go. It's newly reopened after a long renovation and expansion and happily there are now some improvements over the old very cool place. Improvements?....they actually now have clean full sized bathrooms. Yes. And an outdoor patio. Check on that as well. Plus the same old dark, cool, slightly subversive vibe. It's a winner and not your typical Hollywood spot.
- Pros: Cool, dark, clean, comfortable, back patio, good music, off-beat
- Cons: parking is expensive. Cahuenga is crowded but then again there are lot's of options there.
Very Nice
by oliveoyl17_2000 at Citysearch
My boyfriend and I went here last week and it was very nice. As soon as I walked in I thought "I can't wait to tell my girls and plan a girls night out!" Not only was it romantic but the background music and ambiance was just right. I would recommend it!
Unbelievable. I can't believe this is the old
by emanuela0812 at Citysearch
I took a first date here and I was shocked and befuddled to see that the famed backdoor entrance immortalized in Swingers is not there anymore! Instead, they bought the shop next door after they closed, broke down the wall and turned it into a wider, swankier bar with hotel-styled mirrors, chic 50's style wood-panelling, and deep, leather lounge benches in two brand new areas divided off by wood-dividers...the only thing that is similar to the old The Room is the deep-red signature low lights! I'm telling you unbelievable.
- Pros: Romantic, laid-back, all around well-done!
- Cons: Parking still is horrible, of course
