Hair stylist to the stars welcomes famous--and not-so-famous--faces to his tranquil tropical hideaway.

In Short
Smack dab in the center of a busy yet abandoned-looking section of Hollywood, the Chaz Dean Studio is truly an oasis from L.A.'s urban jungle. Just beyond the ivy-covered walls is a stone-lined path, framed with lush foliage and vibrantly hued flowers, that leads to the cottage-like salon. The creaky hardwood floors, calming earth tones, warm lighting and nature-inspired decor--not to mention Chaz's adorable pooches--lend a homey aura to the space. The attitude-free stylists, who specialize in cuts, color, extensions and makeup application, add to the Zen-like experience.
Love this place!

I've been to the Chaz Dean Salon on several occasions (never had a cut, but their blowouts are awesome) and each time it's been sucha treat -- or should I say, retreat. It really feels like you've stepped into some old-fashioned cottage-y paradise filled with flowers and plants and pretty little stone walkways. The salon is actually comprised of 2 old houses from the 20's that sit next door to one another. (The salon's adjacent bungalow is the 'lifestyle' spot where you can buy candles and things.) You may recognize Chaz from QVC, where he's recently begun hawking his Wen products, which is like his quasi-all-natural hair products that are like a shampoo & conditioner all-in-one without the sulfates that dry out your hair. The whole QVC was a bit of a turnoff for me, but anyway, I highly recommend this place -- people are always nice and the product is pretty good (not for every day though) and they do great blowouts!
- Pros: Wen products, blowouts; feels like a cottage far away from the city
- Cons: surrounding area seems a bit sketchy
