Best Deal in Town

by maureenmoore at Citysearch

Everything said below except for one unhappy person in general. The ambiance is great the food so fresh and natural good and the Hot Chocolate best ever .Very european and seems so real not at all staged. Great people watching and they have a lovely little store upstairs with many items one of a kind from all over the world. JUST LOVE IT HERE !

  • Pros: great feeling and great simple food
  • Cons: the parking and can get very crowded on weekends

Wonderful

by Postwarmodernclassics at Citysearch

This place is really a great find, stepping into the doors of Casbah you feel like you are transported to a little Moroccan oasis in the heart of Silverlake. The cafe itself is decorated with a mix of French and Moroccan decor, very Casablanca-like. There is always interesting music playing, and this place has amazing salads and coffee and a nice little store upstairs selling Moroccan items.

With a fading blue paint job, ivy-colored walls and perfectly messy decor, this lived-in boutique cafe caters to Silver Lake bohemanians and the local stroller bunch.

In Short
Aspiring artists and bed-headed neighborhood-types can be found discussing the latest indie flick or alt-rock album on the small plant-lined outdoor patio, or browsing through the North African clothing, linens and curtains inside. Patrons nibble on dolmas and hummus, as well as French-inspired menu items like grilled Swiss cheese and ham on sourdough, tuna salad and a quiche of the day. Dessert consists of fruit tarts, cheeses and cakes.

Tea and Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, YUM

by ortensia at Citysearch

Amazing tea's, great dessert's. Food is a little pricey. Nice place to escape the hussel and bussel. Beautiful decor and if you can afford it lovely finds in their store.

  • Pros: Great food. Great Ambience.
  • Cons: A little pricey.

Amazing Little Parisian Cafe

by heyitsdi4n4 at Citysearch

I went to this place on a whim one day, and have become a regular ever since. The workers are sweet, everything on the menu is amazing, their coffee is the best I've had in LA, and the place is lovely. Things can be high priced, ($9 salad?) but it's definitely all in the quality. I've heard those dishes are amazing but I just can't afford them. The less pricey items are still great: "pizza," bagels (with tons of cream cheese and tomatoes), brioche (my favorite!). You can definitely have a great cafe experience for less than $10.

  • Pros: Great quality food, affordable, good service, best coffee around!!
  • Cons: Some pricey items--better not to go for lunch

This is the best cafe in Los Angeles. I come here all the time and so I really can say I love it. The teas are great no where inL.A can you find as diverse amounts of tea ,From Mate in a traditional gourd to Puerh tea and the great standbye of Darjeeling. I love the food many salads, pita sandwhiches little tostados apricots and dates you cannot find these things in Peets coffee etc. The place is beautiful, fresh flowers lovely music . . really no where like it in L>A great bagels, salmonplates and yogurt with fresh fruit

Interesting! Best Mate in LA

by guitarra at Citysearch

I liked the place.

I am not a fan of chains of cafes and restaurants.

Here I feel in a place that could still be like those described in South America in the 19th century called pulperias, where outside you could still here people betting on running quadreras...

Leon Pallieres would have drawn the manager!!

Loved the food I had, would have prefered someone cebando my mates but for Los Angeles in the 21st century... I'd rather go this way than Starbucks!

  • Pros: Ambience, food, beauty
  • Cons: parking

love this cafe

by traveler at Citysearch

We love this cafe My husband and I and our friends love coming to this cafe We feel transported from Los Angeles, The best time is early morning the coffee we like very much and the teas are the best part . Iced mint tea, ice mate but my favorite the hot teas. When there was nothing in the nieghborhood they were offering a real cafe.

The genuine feel is what we like best. People say the desserts are expensive at least the cakes (Baklava, apricots, dates, and things certainly are not) The cakes we understand come from Sweet Lady Jane and nothing can be done about the price, we asked . They portions are huge and they are good and should be shared .

We love the new toys!

  • Pros: decoration, genuine feel, healthy food great teas
  • Cons: parking difficult,weekends crowded
