Sushi...Done right
by jerryo227 at Citysearch
Love this place. Went here on a whim to check it out because I live in Venice and the sushi places there are crowded and really, well, not that good. The fish quality is excellent, the service is great, especially because when we were there, they were swamped, and without us even asking, they comped a few items on our plate.
So for anyone complaining about the "included gratuity", Well, everyone by now knows, standard is 20%, bare minimum is 18.5. But I get it, this is LA, and every self entitled assclown lives here and thinks they deserve special treatment as soon as they get off the bus from (fill in the blank). Just because useless celebrity reality TV fake stars don't tip, doesn't mean it should be the standard. I'm glad these guys cover their ass knowing that this city sucks as bad as the people inhabiting it. I tip an extra twenty to the manager just for doing it right, act accordingly. Anyone who has ever worked in the service industry in LA knows how much the public here sucks. If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to go out. I hope they pee in your sake.
Bottom line, this place is the cat's pajama's...do people still say that? Who cares, if you can find toro belly this good anywhere else, then go there.....but i doubt it.
P.S. "Good but smelled fishy
I like the chow, but it smelled fishy inside. They need to air it out."
Hey genius, you know what they make sushi out of right?
Morons....god, I hate the residents of this city. You ruin California.

Worth the money!

Fresh, delicious sushi. I would recommend getting one of the three combo dishes - that way you get a little taste of everything. Plenty of seating, but it fills up fast. Fast and friendly service. A little pricey, but definitely worth it for the taste.
Very underwhelming

I'm thoroughly disappointed that this place won best in the city; this undermines my confidence in the rest of CS ratings.
It is entirely mediocre -- bland ambiance, uninteresting food. We went once and agreed that we did not intend to return. Not because it was terrible but because nothing impressed us.

This is my children and my favorite Sushi restaurant. They talk about it all the time. Very nice staff and decor. We have always had a great experience here. Love it!
- Pros: Great real sushi
- Cons: I have to fly to LA for it

Unbelievably addictive

I've gone to Sushi Nozawa in the Valley for years, so when Sugarfish "by Sushi Nozawa" opened in Marina Del Rey, I was curious to see what they would offer. The simple answer is that I've haven't made the trip back to the Valley in months as a result -- this place is phenomenal. Unbelievably fresh, delicious fish with perfect sauces and excellent prices -- it makes every other sushi place in town seem both overpriced and tired. Seriously. The only thing that'll distract me from this place is their new branch in Brentwood.
- Pros: Phenomenal sushi at reasonable prices
- Cons: Spoiled me for every other sushi place in town
Excellent Sushi with great atmosphere

This sushi is likely to be the most fresh and flavorful you've ever had. From NY to LA, it is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. And the staff couldn't be more helpful and nice.
- Pros: The quality of the sushi is hands down the best in the city.
Unexpected sushi mecca in the Marina

The magic Nozawa combo of warm rice & cold fresh fish are in the Marina - you don't have to leave the area anymore!
SugarFish Marina is amazing for its quality and convenience. The sushi melts in your mouth, and you will savor every bite.
I wouldn't say that its exactly kid-friendly, but we have adventurous 6 & 3 year olds who will eat the Edamame and the "Cookie" (cooked fish only) here. The atmosphere is pretty modern-casual, so you don't worry about the making a mess! They keep asking to go back!
The iced green tea is very flavorful, and the staff has always been really helpful and friendly, even though the tip is already built into the price!!!
- Pros: top quality sushi, no frills setup!
