Amazing, tasty, and cheap! A must try!
by graiti at Citysearch
I was initially hesitant to eat at this place. It's like a cafe that's built into part of a convenience store. Seemed odd. I'm glad I finally did. The food is amazing, the staff are friendly, and the prices are very affordable. Even the desserts are great! Like all the other shops in this area, parking can be a bit of a pain. This is hands down the best Indonesian cuisine in the city!
- Pros: awesome food. Cheap
- Cons: not too much parking. No ambience.
Exceptional Indonesian food from a modest neighborhood restaurant
by dmentia777 at Citysearch
Indo Cafe has an huge menu and a wide selection of Indonesian specialities that will appeal to the most timid and most adventurous eaters. I highly recommend the Bakmi/Mie Goreng, Nasi Goreng, Beef Rendang, and all the appetizers. I always ask for extra emping and they're usually quite generous with it. (Handfuls extra at no charge.) And the lontong is also quite tasty! Lontong + beef rendang will make my night. Also, try the avocado milkshake (milkshake, not smoothie). It's exotic and delicious all at once!
While the food is absolutely worth the trip, the visitor should be aware that parking suxx0rz, they don't do delivery, the restaurant is small (can mean long wait time!), and prices are moderately high. On a busy night, expect a wait of at least 30 minutes, and expect your food to come slowly. Don't be surprised if you pay $10-$15 per person.
Tip: when visiting, don't park illegally on National or in the alley! There's almost always parking on Motor (just east of the restaurant) and a short walk (equivalent of 1-2 blocks) can't hurt after a most delicious meal.
Beautiful Indonesian Food

Been there twice, ordered at least 12 different dishes (with friends) and loved them all. The food is well presented, the flavors deep and each dish keeps its individuality (as opposed to so many mediocre restaurants). The staff have always been friendly and the atmosphere pleasantly cozy.
The prices are very reasonable considering the quality you receive. Go there and explore the menu, its not overwhelming and you are sure to find a treat!
Food is decent but...

expensive and small portions. I like their beef rendang a lot. But can't justify it with the rising prices. I have stopped going for about 2 years now. I am sure the prices have increased again. Also a couple of times we have been there, the service were very slow.
This place is a must-try!

I would eat here every day if I could. I highly recommend the yellow rice with crispy onions on top, the avocado shake (es alpukat), and the pan-fried glass noodles. I'm a vegetarian, so my choices are a little bit more limited (but they are accomodating and helpful to vegetarians). For those who eat everything, the menu is very large and I've taken many friends there. I urge everyone to try the avocado shake, which may sound unappealing but is really amazing.
- Pros: Great food, family-run atmosphere, avocado shake!!!
- Cons: Parking can be tough
Excellent Indonesian in Hidden Enclave

I am from Indonesia and this place tasted authentic and delicious. Filled with Indonesians and Asia-philes, adorned with Balinese paintings, this cozy bustling cafe is a treasure. The Beef Rendang is fantastic. The parking is, indeed, difficult to come by, but it is definately worth the wait. There is also a pretty extensive Indonesian Mart Simpang Asia across to the street to fulfill any cravings from home.
- Pros: Rendang, Smells of cuisine, Unpretentious
- Cons: PARKING!
Taste like HOME!

I'm from Singapore so whenever I feel like I want real authentic taste from home, I head to Indo Cafe. The owner / chef is incredibly sweet. She uses the best herb and ingredients in the dishes and everything comes out well presented. make sure to ask for the blachan (their special chili blend) if you like spicy food. I LOVE this place! All the dishes are very complex and tasty. Highly recomended. The place is decorated w/ colorful tropical paintings and lush greens. Very nice. Parking CAN be a pain.
- Pros: FOOD!, FOOD!, FOOD!
- Cons: sometimes parking
Padang in LA
by sha_renton at Citysearch
Owner Faridah has the right notes to my Rendang craving. I no longer need to find a cheap airline tix nor fly 14hrs to serve that craving. Just like the one in Padang! Even vegan friendly. Service & Ambience have been greatly upgraded, Keep up the good work!
- Pros: Great Rendang, Upgraded service
Good authentic Indonesian food

The food here are simply marvellous! Start with some delicious appetizers such as fried shrimp or tofu. For entree, the beef rendang, water spinach in hot plate and spicy chicken are some good selections. Top it off with some exotic desserts such as the durian juice and you'll have yourself an entirely new dining experience!
- Pros: Nice place, Friendly waitreses
