WORST PLACE IN LA
by BigDan23 at Citysearch
A crappy place, the owner rips off everyone who walks through the door. He took his shirt off to fight my friend's band because they were upset that they had to pay $150 and didn't even get to perform. IF YOU EVER GET THE CHANCE TO GO HERE, DON'T!
- Pros: Not one
- Cons: Owners, atmosphere, attitude, business practices.
AMAZING FOOD!
by Bassora77 at Citysearch
I went to Zabumba last night and had the most amazing experience. The atmosphere took me out of Los Angeles and transported me to Brazil. The food was incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was so good that I introduced myself to the chef Nalva, and asked her to cater my wedding this fall! I asked her what she puts into her food to make it so good and she said, "I put love." She is amazing, I recommend this place to everyone!
- Pros: The new chef Nalva Monju is incrediable!
This Place Leaves Bad Taste In My Mouth In More Way Than One
by Sambistadancer at Citysearch
I won't recommend this place to anyone. Had an event there, not only did they shortchange us on the food we had ordered for our guests ( the presentation of the food was terrible and my guests complained about the taste or lack thereof!!) but they STOLE the 7 boxes of Acai beverage that had been donated for our event that was brought into the restaurant. Do your stomach a favor and go down the street to CAFE BRAZIL where the food is always good and plentiful, the service is good and so is the Karma!
- Cons: Untrustworthy Owner, Bad Food, Bad Service

Awful Restaurant.
by athena0711 at Citysearch
I tried Zabumba for the first time last week because of Mr. Gold's review and I have to say how severely disappointed I was. The restaurant was empty the entire time we dined there and nothing we wanted on the menu was available. Additionally, the proprietor acted as our waiter and bartender although he fully admitted he wasn't a "drink mixer". We ordered an appetizer plate that was completely improvised - in fact, to round out the meager offerings they added bar olives to the plate. The food and service was lacking to say the least. A couple blocks down is Cafe Brazil, which was bustling. Had we known it existed we would have gone there instead.
- Pros: Has a colorful Brazilian feel
- Cons: Food, service.
Brazilian treats--like black-bean stew and fried yucca--in a festive football atmosphere.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
Usually crowded at night and empty at off-peak hours, this cavernous eatery serves authentic dishes. During soccer season, the spacious patio overflows with frenetic fans attracted by the Brazilian team mural emblazoned on an exterior wall. Appetizers include chicken croquettes, fried yucca and bread balls. National dish feijoada--black-bean stew and smoked meats--is served with yucca flour, rice and beans. Though not a Brazilian specialty, pizza offerings include toppings like plantains, cinnamon and sweetened condensed milk.
subpar brasilian food ... more of a place to grab a drink
by bigdog12 at Citysearch
subpar brasilian food ... more of a place to grab a drink with friends and catch soccer on tv .. not a date place .. i would never bring a female here .. picture more of a brazilian low end sports bar .. and you will have a truer sense of what this place is ... there is a samba show consisting of a pretty good band and only one dancer .. when i went they only had a beer & wine license which actually means Yes they can serve rum and othe liquors the longest the alcohol content is less than 20proof so that would explain why there drinks feel watered down in case you have already been there and felt cheated .. if you want to take a date or have a more formal dinner yet experience brasilian food and culture there are many other places to try out ..
- Pros: if u understand it's basically a brasilian version of a sports bar it's ok
- Cons: not a date place and the drinks are weak
Bland food, Bad service
by maryamzee at Citysearch
The waiter ignored us the whole night. When my food arrived, it was not warm and I had to send it back for the cook to reheat (which was probably done in a microwave). The music was so loud that my boyfriend and I could barely hear each other. Overall, it was a very disappointing evening.
- Pros: Selection on menue
- Cons: Service
Rudest Staff On The Planet!
by sudhara at Citysearch
I took my friends here last year for my birthday and let's just say I was in tears at the end. 2 dinners (including mine) came AFTER everyone had almost finished theirs, the food was bland, drinks were terrible but the worst was the manager. When I went to ask and complain about where our food was she didn't care. Her reply was, "What do you want me to do, dance for you?". She then proceeded to do a little dance. Frustrated and insulted I ran outside crying. My friends were furious. This happened last year and we still talk about it. DO NOT GO HERE!!! It was the worst experience any of us had encountered.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: rudeness of staff, bland food, weak drinks
Worst Restaraunt Experience in Los Angeles
by debussey at Citysearch
My meal was mediocre at best, while my wife's meal was so salty she could not eat it. She is also the opposite of picky. After our server took the plates and noticed that neither of us ate more than one bite of her meal the server said nothing. Upon receiving the check she had a guilty look but did not offer any consolatoin or apology. Overall, I had a horrible feeling after eating there (due to the food and experience) and would highly recommend that anybody planning to eat there choose otherwise.
- Cons: Service, Food, Ambience
