Simply, the best hardware source for the best in hardware
by merenly
Sheraton pulls & Duncan Phyfe feet are displayed like jewelry behind glass; whole housefuls of matching victorian door hinges a la japonais hang from pegs. a wall of milk crates waist high and several deep, bisects the store front to back. all carefully sorted and labeled as to their contents: mortise and other style hard-to-find door locks and lock parts . then there are the fixtures--gas, electric, and i have even seen whale oil lamps at Liz's.
Having sold to her I can say she is quite shrewd, has an excellent eye and deals fair. Plus she is courteous, even while telling you she isn't interested in the fixture you have brought in.
- Pros: no one else has it (that perfect item)
- Cons: it may have been waiting there for you for years and you may have to pay its back rent
Home improvement nuts rejoice at this cornucopia of unusual wares.

The Scene
Doorknobs, light fixtures, assorted nuts and bolts plus crates overflowing with merchandise that won't fit on the walls can make browsing a challenge, especially for customers distracted by the unique items on display. The back of this emporium houses the real treasures: a specially lit section of sconces and chandeliers, an art deco display and a bathroom which serves as both restroom and showcase for porcelain and glass items.
The Goods
The perfect accent for any room can be found somewhere among contemporary items and antiques in surprisingly good condition. Nineteenth-century cast iron bookshelves, bathtub feet, Victorian bar pulls, towel bars, medicine cabinets and shower heads can add quick spice to a drab dwelling. The Artist's Corner offers broken or altered pieces and vintage posters.

And you can find ANYTHING here - from window closures to chrome soap holders to door knockers. Even if you're not looking for hardware, stop in and take a look as the store is filled from floor to ceiling with items.
