Still Great
by Steve Rosenberg
Surprised to see some negative reviews. We've never had a bad experience at Canter's. And we've been going there for 10 years now and continue to do so every time we're in L.A.
Staff has ALWAYS been friendly, service is prompt, prices are comparable to other delis. The bakery is to die for.
And P. S. - They thank you on your way out.
- Pros: Traditional Jewish Deli Food & Atmosphere
- Cons: They don't have a branch in Palm Springs
Not even close to being a decent deli
by Cos23
If anyone thinks that Canter's is a good deli, go back to the McDonalds that you came from.
I've been going to Canter's on & off for over 50 years. What was once a pretty decent deli has evolved into an overpriced, deteriorating quality wannabe. The food is not good. There's no other way to put it. And it's too bad. If you want to complain, they'll laugh at you. The manager's act like they're doing you a favor by just seating you. A once good spot is now a "Beware" place.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Food, Attitude

The food is unbelieveably bland, the atmosphere is great if you're looking for smarmy.
I AGREE WITH THE NEGATIVES
by FATSO1
WELL FOR SUCH A FAMOUS PLACE, THEY DONT SEEM TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT MAINTAINING THIER FAME.
NICE OLD SCHOOL RESTAURANT LAYOUT, FOOD QUALITY FOR THE PRICE? GO TO NORMS.
MY FRIEND HAD A HAM SANDWICH THAT LOOKED LIKE IT CAME OUT OF THE PLASTIC PACKAGE AT 711,
AND I HAD A $12.00 CHEFS SALAD, THAT WAS NOTHING LESS THAN PATHETIC, IVE HAD BETTER SALADS AT MCDONALDS(NO JOKE).
LOTS OF EMPLOYEES, NONE SEEMED TOO CONCERNED ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THIER TIPS.
TOO BAD THAT SUCH A FAMOUS PLACE CANT LIVE UP TO ITS FAME.
COULD BE GOOD IF ANYBODY GAVE A DAM, BUT IT WAS APPARENT THAT NOBODY DOES.
JUST MILKING THE FAME FOR ALL ITS WORTH,
- Pros: NICE CIEIING ART
- Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE
Canter's Hits the Spot
by MonsieurFang
I was just here again recently with me buds I haven't seen in a long while. For a late night spot, it's a good pick. Sure, the food isn't all that great. But, I always have had good service here and stepping into the place is like stepping into a time machine. Sometimes, I'll come here just to sit and have coffee myself. They never try to rush me out which is good!
- Pros: 24 hours. Classic.
- Cons: none really
Canters

Classic place to eat in LA! They have the best Deli sandwiches and they are open 24hours! Great place to go when you're craving a bomb deli sandwich!!!
your average diner
by grabtrees
its your average diner, but their menu selection is huge, theres a ton of stuff to choose from, and the staff is friendly, they have great pickles too, i believe they make it themselves there. over all it was great, the price was decent and it was open til the late hours of the night
This is the best deli in America.

Canter's sandwiches cannot be beaten. Period. And the pickles, which are brought out to you on a huge plate at the start of your meal, are to die for. I recommend buying a jar to take out with you. Don't forget the black and white cookie, either.
- Pros: Corned beef, salami, pickles.
- Cons: N/A
I love Canter's--the ultimate L.A. experience
by grahamandgraham
I love, love, love Canter's and consider it a highlight to visit. Always have, always will. Food's great, reasonably priced, and a visit is a Los Angeles experience, full of color and mood. Never had anything bad here, ever.
Need some attitude?
by healtychef
I wish there was a minus star option for rating. I took my colleagues there while remembering warm Mazza bowl soup, which my friend's mom used make for us. Well, my good memories were shattered when I was yelled at by a rude woman in cashier for not calculating my portion of the bill excluding tip before hand. The server did not ask us if we wanted separate checks, which we needed it in order to pay mixed cash and/or credit cards for out party. She threw parking stamp over the counter and gave all kinds of attitude. The food was over priced for the portion and taste. Evidentially, the extra money the food cost us bought us extra attitude!!! Please go there if you want to waste your hard earned money in most disrespectable way.
- Cons: Both Thumbs down
