Decent food in a great Ambiance
by IACYOO
Creative dishes, great ambiance and patrons tend to be on the physically attractive side. Ingredients used to make the dishes are so-so.
- Pros: Ambiance and creative dishes
- Cons: Ingredients used is mediocre
MOLDY BACON!
by bidzilla
I've been a customer of the Eatwell Cafe at the corner of Beverly and Martel for years. They changed owners and location and were bought out by Kokomo's. Since that time the food has gone severely down hill. The servers are all really nice and basically attentive - the Breakfast servers only. I've heard nightmare story's about getting good service the other times of day.
Since my friends and I are regulars (we've been going about every other weekend for years) they all know us and pretty much what we like. coffee is served quickly for the most part and the food is brought out quickly most of the time. Today was the same except I was served bacon with MOLD on it. You could see it on the cooked pieces! I showed my server and he offered to bring more but I just wanted it removed from our bill. it's disgusting but these things happen. in the process of getting our bill sorted out he showed it to the manager and the other servers who happened to be around. they were all grossed out because they could see it. the manager however, was unconvinced. he acted like I made this up. you could SEE IT ON THERE remember. he insisted that this could never happen (again there was EVIDENCE IT DID) and I asserted that if I could see the mold after it'd been cooked then I'm sure it was on there when it was put on the grill. Not only did he disagree but he ordered me out. I was dumbstruck! this is a restaurant I frequent and have basically enjoyed for years. he shoo'd me out as if I were not a paying customer and this was MY FAULT.
I will NEVER go there again and I urge you too NOT TO EAT THERE! The Breakfast servers are all really nice, helpful and friendly and I hope they get jobs somewhere else.
Kokomo's Bad management/customer service and poorly stored moldy food. Don't spend your hard earned dollars there.
- Pros: the Breakfast servers are all nice and attentive
- Cons: bad management with bad attitude, food has gone down hill, poorly stored moldy fodd
dont order delivery from here
by sb111
if you dont mind missing food, wrong orders and wait times of over an hour, this is the place for you. They consistently send orders with missing items, and the delivery driver is unwilling to wait while you call them to find out what happened. They are rude and unable to help on the phone when you call back, and instead of offering to bring your missing food right away, they give you the option of waiting another hour or driving to pick it up yourself.
The wait staff are straight from hell!

The bus boys were nice! But the waiters - Alex, Joel, etc. had the worst attitude. Joel is srtaight from your worst nightmare as he smuggly smiles at you throughout your meal, after he just insulted you. They spoke to and treated several customers, including myself, like utter garbage. It is people like that that make going out to dine so unappealing these days. The food was ok. The prices overrated and priced. I will be much happier eating culinary delights at home. And away from rude, mean and spiteful human beings who take it out on innocent, tip-paying customers. Nightmare! This place needs an overhaul. I am actually glad it is no longer located at the Farmers Market. NOW, unsuspecting tourists and visitors won't have to be subjected to the dark side of wannabe, poseur Los Angeles transplants. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Never again. Nightmare! They will surely fail. Replace Joel immediately! And Alfredo - pay your t-shirt bill for professionalism's sake. Geez!
- Pros: Nothing really
- Cons: Horrible staff, overpriced unexceptional food
Grrrrrrrrrreat brunch
by Tahloolah
I was sitting outside and drinking a snizzel cup of Joe when I saw this Hummer drive up. I don't condone gas eaters but L.A. is full of them. Out gets (right in front of Kokomo's) Dr. Dre and a posse. One guy looked like Tupac but that is impossible, I know. So, they sat down outside. I couldn't believe it. I was having a meal with hip hop guys. When they finished their food they left a huge tip and the waiter and owner (I think he was the owner) were all giggles. Even in L.A., we don't get used to seeing the stars.
So, the next Sunday I went back for brunch (it is really good food at Kokomo's) and I saw Demi Moore.
I am going again because it is fun to eat excellent food and see the star's. Yes, that is what I will say...
Kokomo's has great food and when I go there I see stars.
- Pros: Thumbs up...I love the food and I really love seeing celebrities
The owner, Alfredo Diaz, refuses to pay his bill for t-shirts!
by DavidKay
Sad to say that after 8 years of printing his t-shirts Alfredo refuses to pay for t-shirts he received. His invoice was inadvertently marked paid and when our bookkeeper discovered the mistake we contacted Alfredo. He insisted that we charged his credit card but was unwilling to provide a copy of his credit card statement showing that we were paid. I have asked him a number of times and he refuses now to even return my telephone calls. He still owes us $519.60.
Excellent everyday food with a few twists here and there

I went here with some work friends today and I have to say that this place is excellent. The restaurant has creative salads, sandwiches and more, and yet the familiar favorites we all love. I ordered a BLT, not wanting or expecting anything special, and I have to say that it was remarkable. Everything seemed very fresh. The tomato soup was also good, though I wish I would have been able to try their sweet potato fries as well. If you are looking for a reliable and yummy meal head here!
- Pros: Great food! Great prices!
- Cons: Service a little slow...
Farmers Market shoppers and star-searching tourists break for breakfast specials at this New Orleans-influenced diner.
by Contributor
In Short
This casual table-service restaurant has been one of the Market's dining darlings since long before the Grove expansion. Though it's also open for lunch and dinner, all-day breakfast is the most popular meal. The Bayou-flavored menu offerings range from scrambles to the signature dish: battered catfish and eggs, served with a hunk of coffee cake. As a morning pick-me-up or afternoon snack, the Red Eye pancakes are dosed with espresso and chocolate chips.
Kokomo's definitely A Go Go
by nerg112
I'm a big fan of several of the establishments in the Farmer's Market, specifically Kokomo Cafe. Kokomo is unlike most of the breakfast places here in LA. The design is simple yet perfect for the diner and the food is always good to the last bite. I love their coffee and the coffee cake is by far the best I've had in Los Angeles. Great food and great looking crowd!
- Pros: Amazing food, great atmosphere, hip location
fun - like a circus
by chinadog
I don't know about foam, so I'm not qualified to cry about a latte, but I went there on very busy Sunday, and my family and I had a blast. Food, atmosphere and the down to earth staff. The only thing that got on my nerves was some of the clientele. Why are LA yuppies so impatient? you might think with the amount of people that work in restaurants in this city that there would be less attitude to the staff - not so. PLEASE, if you bring a coffee from Starbucks into another restaurant don't give the hostess a hard time for asking you to wait fifteen minutes. I am sure that you are very important in your world but remember - it is just eggs!
