Stop Complaining...
by Allthat101
Okay What Is Everybody's problem...I have been to Damianos late at night right after work...The service isnt great but...The Food Is Super Good...I Worked At The Grove And They Charged Me A Four Dollar Delivery Fee...I Was Happy To Pay...Why Because It's Different...I Love The Food, I Love The Overall Feel Of The Place...If You Dont Like It Just Shut Up And Move On...And What's This That Everyone Says It's Extremely Crowded...I Always Get There Between 2 And $ in The Morning...And I'm Usually Out With In An Hour...Fully Satisfied...So Everyone Who Doesnt Like Too Bad...
- Pros: Great Pizza...
- Cons: A Little More Lighting
Best pizza in Los Angeles
by gavinsgirl
I went to Damiano around 11pm on a Wed. and yes it was scary in that place. Its dark and looks rundown. The service is okay, the pizza is a bit expensive in my opinion. I got a mushroom + peperoni. I must say the peperoni was horrible. I had to take them off the pizza. The pizza is way better than Vitos on La Cienega. The area has horrible parking though.
- Pros: good pizza
- Cons: horrible area, horrible parking, expensive, horrible pepperoni
Terrible, Terrible Service
by KayDS
I've been there many times, and they do have great pizza, but it's just not worth it for me to ever go again.
If you go, expect to wait 30-45 minutes before they START your pizza. I went last night, and ordered a large pizza. Our waitress never came to our table after taking our order and bringing us waters. We had been waiting for the pizza for over an hour and were starting to get impatient, and our glasses had long been empty, when our waitress came over and told us "the kitchen said they didn't get your order." She took zero responsibility for the order not getting in, and she never even apologized! When we told her we weren't going to wait for them to START the order now, she seemed happy!
I've long had mixed feelings about whether the good pizza is worth the horrible service and long waits, and this experience sealed it in my mind. I'm never going to go back to Mr. Pizza.
- Pros: Great Pizza
- Cons: Horrible Service, Extremely long waits, has a B health rating
Decent food, but $4 delivery to Hollywood? That's a total rip off in an era of $5 gas.
by aliota112
$4 delivery to Hollywood? That's the most expensive delivery I've ever encountered in over 30 years of living. The pizza is pretty decent, but very overpriced for what you get. Order a medium pizza and definitely experience hunger pains after finishing it, because it's only like 4 slices or so. $15+ for that?? I've never been inside this place, but given that I just read a delivery to Silverlake is $10, I'd never even consider making a trip there, because I consider Damiano's a rip off, financially. I shudder to think of how many bitter, middle class people actually lose money eating this food, and then complain about their salaries. That must be every single customer of this place.
- Pros: pizza is ok, some of the other food is ok also.
- Cons: PRICE IN AN ERA OF $5 GAS!!!!!!!!!!!! $4 delivery to Hollywood? No thanks; I'll forego eating for a day.
Very Good Tasting Pizza and Pasta dinners, However very bad interior and exterior dining experience in atmosphere
by Opalie
Really this place needs to be remodeled, it's old, stinky, and very dirty. Forget about the restrooms, so horrible. It's dark and depressing and stains all over the ceilings, and the lack of quality to used to paint the place is in poor, very poor condition. This place really needs a make-over.
As far as the food, the food is great. The service is average.
late nite treasure
by dthstar
who doesn't like freshly-made-to-order pizza or mazarella sticks? rite?? it's open til late (after midnite), so if the bar scene just ain't happening for some reason, just head over here & eat away your A-game & call it a nite. parking's tough tho sometimes cuz there's only street/metered parking. but when you come late, there's usually some spots rite in front. it's a small cozy dark hole-in-the-wall joint, but food's great&comforting.
- Pros: made-to-order-pizza open late nite
- Cons: poor parking situation
DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY (Long time customer gives up)
by FoodieMaster
For the record, I was a huge supporter of Damiano's for a very long time. I've been in this town for 10 years and have been a loyal customer for many of those years. I defended their prices, their slow delivery, because they provided quality late night delivery. Those days are over.
Tonight, my sister and I ordered a pretty large order (pizza, pasta, dessert, and an appetizer). We placed the order at 12:45 AM and were told it would take 45-60 minutes. I live in the valley and I'm very understanding of how long it normally takes for that delivery (although, at this time of night, taking Laurel Canyon only takes 15 minutes). I've ordered at least 25 times from them, tip VERY well, and was expecting the usual service.
Instead, we had to wait 2 hours. The food was cold. And they only offered a $10 discount. When we asked to speak to a manager, the waitress said that because we were in the valley, it would take a "few more minutes" to deliver. Unfortunately, we had to do the "angry customer" routine.
While I understand that delivery is tricky mistress, what we experienced was akin to sitting in a restaurant, waiting 45 minutes to get TERRIBLE service, getting cold food, and then being offered a stale slice of pie to make up for it. Damiano's will still get business. The italian food is decent-good for LA (which means poor-satisfactory every where else). However, I recommend that if you want to order delivery, call in, put on your robe and bunny slippers and make your way over there.
- Pros: super slow late night delivery until 5am
- Cons: bad service, below average italian food, SLOOOOW delivery
This divey late-night dining fixture brings New York-style pizzas--and attitude--to L.A.
by Contributor
Customers waiting for takeout or tables in the low-lit dining room usually spill onto the street, especially after last call at nearby nightclubs. Pizza is served both New York-style, with a foldable thin crust, or in thick, doughy Sicilian wedges. Pies can be customized with newfangled toppings including spinach, fontina and sun-dried tomatoes, or traditional pepperoni, mushrooms and olives. Mammoth calzones, baked pastas, salads and appetizers like calamari fritti, mozzarella sticks and stuffed mushrooms round out the menu.
Great Pizza, GREAT. Expect long wait late night...
by malasay
Ok so there's a long wait yes, but the pizza is so good. The cheese is hot, stretches, and melts in your mouth. Just avoid the vegan pepporoni b/c it's dry and gross. Otherwise it's one of the best ...I know my pizza.
- Pros: Pizza is Great
- Cons: Crowded Late Night
total rip off, only eat here if its the only place open and you're drunk!
by chrisw78
Allow me to start by saying that I have eaten here a few times after leaving clubs and it was a good thing I was drunk because I would have ate anything. We also ordered delivery twice now, and both times got ripped off. I also ordered that over priced artichoke, and it went straight to the trash. The last time we ordered, it took 2 hours to get the pizza and it showed up burnt. I have tried to get a hold of the manager/owner for a week to get my money back and he keeps dodging my calls. The girl who answered my call even gave me attitude and told me I have to reach him when he's there! By the way, his hours are 2am till 6am! I guess I'm the crazy one.
- Pros: they're open late if you're desperate
- Cons: the food and the service
