Watch out big time

Do not let this guy sell ANYTHING for you. If he owes you money, my heart goes out to you, you are in for a LONG wait and million reasons why he can't pay you.
- Pros: Neat stuff to look at
- Cons: Too bad he comes off as such a real person...................he's not.

YOU SHOULD PAY YOUR CONSIGNEES!
by AmberKazarien
SHAME ON YOU NICK! This explains why your quality of stock is more like the end of the weekend garage sale! If you are not paying the people who bring you furniture to sell for them - sooner or later the word will get around - and you'll run out of suppliers! OOPS! - You may just be too too late!
Clean up the place and get your reputation back on track. You neighbors all say the same as these reviewers about why your place has gone down hill. You don't pay your consignees - you're not the only game on LaBrea for consignment - I'll just go somewhere else too! AK
- Pros: Used to be a great place to find nice things!
- Cons: Dirty, Dusty, Dumpster quality & is getting a very bad reputation in the neighborhood!
yea right the king of the furniture

I was also one of Nicks Victim's. I gave him the contents of my home and much of my business which included expensive props etc. I have tried to work with Nick as I am a very nice person. He sold my things and never gave me the money. I tried and tried but he keeps giving me the baloney that I have heard that he has given others. EVERY single time - I have gotten nothing - but the same old song and dance. I figure he ripped me off for at least $5000.00 in commissions. Hey Nick - when you want me to take off MY bad feedback - PAY ME WHAT YOU OWE ME - anyone that wants to know about NICK - contact me at www.LENNONstudios@aol "dot" com - otherwise - I'll see you in court! Anyone else - you want the truth - call me or email me. I have the paperwork Nick and I when I can finally get your served - I'll see your in court! As for the person leaving a review - As a paying customer - I'm sure Nick kisses your butt - but don't judge us who have been ripped off by him UNLESS you too have given him things on consigment and been paid for your merchandise!
- Pros: Odd things
- Cons: You are buying other peoples broken dreams!
read my comments about Nick, I write the truth!

In defense of Nick, I have purchased items from him in the past (on consignment as well as immediate purchase) and I never had any issues with him or his service(s). His has always been professional, honest and even suggested some ways that he can assist me in delivery and I reside in Las Vegas. I have been in NY for many months and now return to Vegas, seeking his tel number I read this negative comment about him and wanted to set the record straight! I do not believe the story written of him. I intend to stop by his establishment soon and continue to do business with him.
A Message From the King
by nickmetropolis
Hi, I'm Nick Metropolis and I am immediately responding to the review above. I am writing in the spirit of integrity and kindness. We have been in business for 14 years and we take humble pride in treating our customers with the utmost respect and generosity. We have given countless times to young artists, small theatre companies and anyone in need of a helping hand because of a limited budget or a very worthy cause. I believe that most of Los Angeles knows us for these great business qualities. I am now going to address the consignement issue mentioned above. I am so very suprised that the person above has not come to me directly to check on a so-called $10,000 consignment. In my 14 years at our location I do not remember ever taking a $10,000 consignment or even close to a $10,000 consignment. I have also never received phone calls, messages, or letters ever ever asking me to pay a $10,000 commission. I certainly would like to have this person call me directly to let me know what consigment he or she is speaking of. I welcome that response in the spirit of great communication because my only intention would be to make this matter right and first of all, I need to know what matter we are speaking about. I have always tried to help people that are in a bind, i.e. having to move the very next day or if a relative has passed and an apartment needs immediate liquidation. We receive hundreds of compliments per week and very rarely a complaint. I am mainly writing this response because, once again I have never had a request for the payment of a consigment as described above. I ask that you communicate with me quickly because I am eager to resolve this situation and I honestly have no idea who you are. When you call, write or email I can assure you that you will be treated with the utmost respect and kindness. So, please respond soon.
Sincerely,
Nick Metropolis
Decent place for

Nick has been around for a long time and I've purchased things there for years. I decided to give him about 10.000.00 worth of antiques and collectables to put on consignment. He sold everything and I never recieved a dime! After checking around - I found that I am FAR from being alone. He is a dishonest as far as selling there. As far as buying? Well, if you want to buy items that are basically "stolen" (since he accepts consignments, but doesn't pay the owners) - then let it be on your consience! Me? Well - I may never see my money, but I'll warn EVERYONE to stay away from this dishonest man and his operation!
- Pros: Great for Props
- Cons: Stay away from consigning ANYTHING!
Novelty furnishings sure to induce a giggle or a gasp.

This open-air corner lot with the circus atmosphere is the first place to go when searching for that piece of furniture so odd no one else would dream of stocking it. Popular with Hollywood set dressers and eccentric collectors alike, Nick Metropolis rarely fails to surprise with its constantly changing stock of historic weirdness. From shamelessly trashy leopard-print sofas to utilitarian racks of classroom lockers; from atomic-patterned tiki bars to vintage bowling score tables, the accent is on kitsch. Artist-designed boomerang tables are covered with decoupage images of curvy babes or shaggy Beatles. Larger items include rows of well-used theater seats and massive promotional posters. Inside you'll find amateur artwork, ship models, globes, tacky lamps and other unique pieces calculated to add atmosphere to your swinging bachelor or bachelorette pad.
