just stay off your cell phone...you are the kind of person that doesn't need to be in the store anyway and by the way they don't need your business. A bit self important aren't you?
Pros: they have a wonderful helpful staff that promotes a quality atmosphere

Rising far above all the card shops I’ve ever been to is Pulp. Here’s three reasons why you should run, don’t walk, but run to this cool shop: (1) The card walls are lined with hilarious, original cards for all occasions that really make you laugh out loud. I mean, some really funny cards. I also bought holiday gifts this year for my entire office staff – really cool stuff that was reasonable priced. (2) It ain’t in a mall, kids. It’s on the street with parking in the rear; no damn parking structure to deal with. (3) Not sure how they keep their staff happy but boy-o- boy are they nice and helpful. I bought a really funny card about a week ago. It was so funny that a friend asked me to pick one up for him. I went back to Pulp and of course, that card was sold out - they continually put out new cards, it’s why I go there so often – but at the register I told the cashier my story. He actually went into the back and found the one remaining card I had originally come in for. Oh, and I’m guilty of going to Pulp almost every Saturday morning. I don’t always buy something - I go just so I can get a good laugh.

This store is an absolute treat. The selection is, unequivocally, the best in town. It's that rare place I can always go if I find something unique online, but don't want to wait for shipping. They carry merchandise from local artists; a HUGE plus. Oh, and the music is INCREDIBLE. Do these people DJ? Every time I go in there I find myself asking an employee what song just played. Also, I was in there the other day and happened to hear one of the sales clerks tell a customer, in an affable manner, that it wasn't very nice to be on a cell phone while checking out. AMEN! I mean, can't the phone call wait two minutes? Is it too much to give a bit of your attention to the human being STANDING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU? Nice to know good taste AND good manners still exist in Los Angeles. A+++
Pros: selection, staff, music
Cons: none

The best card selection in town, not to mention the variety of paper/stationery they offer. The buyer really does an excellent job. On my many visits the staff has always been helpful and courteous -- not in your face or, on the other hand, rude or distant. Highly recommended to any fellow paper-philes!
Pros: Product selection, service, music!
Cons: None.

Who chooses the merchandise in the store? They have excellent taste and it's reflected in the offered selection! I never go away emptyhanded (even when I promise I'm simply browsing to the sales staff)!

this is a cute little store to go to when you're looking for a card that's NOT hallmark average. many are hand made, with various embellishments and interesting details. decent candle selection and various cute knick-knacks-as-gifts too. customer service is average, sometimes it's better to browse on your own anyways.

Up until today, this was my favorite place to find little treasures. Customer service is very important to me and I found that this was not of any importance to the staff working today. I was about to make a purchase in the store when I was told by the sales lady that I was not being nice by being on my phone. I did not see any signs posted stating no cellphones. There was no one else in the store and I wasn't even being loud. Regardless of how she felt, I was giving them business and they failed to acknowledge that. This is just bad business for them. Employees should always make a customer feel welcome. That's why its called customer service. Although the merchandise is unique, I can always go somewhere else to find the same things with better service.
Cons: rude staff

Pulp and Illiterature have the greatest selection of unique paper, cards, journals, books, and gifts. Also, their extraordinary staff is helpful without smothering you. Definately worth checking out!
Pros: selection, staff, quality

If you're looking for off-beat, kitchsy cards and gifts for all occasions - this is your place. No boring grocery store cards here. Love this place.
