Citysearch Editorial Review

by Mar Yvette

Spread over 17 beautifully landscaped acres with its own vineyard out front, this inn is an ideal and more affordable alternative to the area's impersonal chain hotels. The grounds are peppered with 18 European-style fountains, ivy-lined trellis walkways, streams, floral ponds, gardens, a picturesque rose arbor and a pool area that was completely remodeled in May 2010. The bucolic setting is favored by couples (weddings take place practically every weekend), and visiting locals who enjoy evening strolls through the beautifully lit landscape. Some of the guest rooms and suites feature fireplaces, vaulted ceilings and Jacuzzi bathtubs, as well as private patios or terraces with views of the gardens, lake, Westlake Village Golf Course or mountains. Mediterraneo is the onsite restaurant that serves Mediterranean-tinged bistro fare while Bogie's lounge offers something different every night with drinks, dancing and a variety of live entertainment.

Treated very poorly by management and staff

by hoteladvisor

We have known about this hotel for quite some time and finally thought we would come down to see how it is for a romantic getaway weekend.

Once we entered the lobby to check in, we were treated so poorly that the woman (with the accent) at the front desk made my fiancee cry out of frustration and sadness that this woman caused.

The reason was that they insisted that we did not make a reservation and would not check records then finally DID and found the reservation.

Once we arrived in the room, it was NOT the room we paid for but the lowest quality room. We reserved a suite.

This angered me so much that I had to sort this out with management.

The manager came out and apologized and offered gift certificates to the neighboring restaurant and more. we did not receive anything. Period. They outright lied to us. Remember we were paying a lot of money for our room. They did not care a single bit.

They sent us to another room which had not been maintained and we called management and they came and did something, but was actually nothing.

We ended up letting this all go, so we could enjoy our weekend.

We do not recommend this hotel if you would like to ensure a customer-oriented environment.

The next day, the tub still was clogged after a second attempt to get it unclogged through a new staff member as the one with the accent was not there at the time. SHE did indeed send us a bottle of wine and apologies for our troubles.

Property is lovely and worth visiting, but not if you believe you deserve good service. Hopefully they will read this and change their ways IMMEDIATELY.

  • Pros: Property is beautiful. Golf nearby. Location is excellent.
  • Cons: The staff was very discourtious. And is willing to lie to guests.

Great Wedding Host Hotel

by soydorf

My husband and I got married at a vineyard/ranch that did not have a hotel. We decided to use the Westlake Village Inn as our host hotel because of its Napa Valley like charm. The rooms are excellent, the restaurant and the bar are great and generally speaking the service is good. I would have given them 5 stars, but I felt they could have been a bit more responsive to my phone calls as we did have a block of 38 rooms and I think that they could have given us some kind of comp on our room considering we brought them so much business. It really is a great hotel to host groups. They have fantastic grounds and the setting is beautiful. It is much different than the traditional Hyatt down the street.

If you are getting married, I suggest getting the Deluxe Golfview Suite. The room is huge and if you get your hair and makeup done there, you can fit all of your bridesmaids (I had 10, plus a mother and 2 flower girls) in the room quite comfortably. Before you leave, just have housekeeping come in and turn over the room so that it is ready for your wedding night.

  • Pros: Napa Valley Like Setting, Quaint Hotel

Totally_Ripped_Off!

by acw3148

The staff at this property is totally arrogant and treats you like you should be glad that they gave you the privilege of using their facility. If you have any problems or concerns their attitude is "too bad." My wife and I were going to renew our vows at their property and had signed a contract in on January 28th, 2008. Two weeks later, due to a personal challenge, we needed to cancel our arrangements. In spite of the fact that our ceremony was going to be on August 16th, (7 months later) they refused to refund our deposit. Every time I call, I get the run around, they do not call back, and are generally rude when you do actually get through. I would encourage anyone to find a different location to conduct your services as there are many places in LA to choose from.

  • Pros: nice property
  • Cons: Not responsive to customer needs. Had personal challenge that they totally ignored.
