You'll first see a well-lit, pristine, modern building with attractive landscaping and a valet parking service. No grafitti, trash or shopping carts here! Once you enter, you're greeted by several well-groomed staff members in suits and hanbok (Korean kimonos) -- you might even think you're in a hotel lobby. You're guided to your table and handed your menus -- try not to get overwhelmed with choices. I had the Yookgaejang ("spicy beef and scallion soup") ; my friend had the Galbee Dolsot Bibimbab ("sizzling rice hotpot with prime ribs and vegetables".) We were also given a variety of complimentary appetizers, ranging from pickled sprouts and kimchi to potato salad. Here's a quirk: they didn't have any authentic Korean beer on their menu, but they served me Kirin (Japanese) in a Hite (Korean) beer glass! A staff member stopped by our table every few minutes -- their service was incredibly attentive and polite. We were also given a complimentary cup of sujunggwa (a sweet drink made with persimmon, pine nuts, cinnamon, and ginger) for dessert. Given this great experience, I'll definitely come back again!

  • Pros: Great food, attentive service, clean and spacious building.
  • Cons: Free street parking is hard to find.

For me I don't think it's a fascinating place as other people said. Their menu are a bit pricey which people claim their meat quality are top notch but I disagree. Their marinate were not bad but average. They don't even have rice paper which I love. Only thing i think its beyond average for this place is the ambiance. The outside patio actually feel quite nice to hang out but their valet sucks so oh well just satisfactory star for this one.

honestly, i don't know what happened to this place. it used to be so much better! the meat quality got worse (or tougher) and i think they're starting to rely too much on their non-korean customers' unfamiliarity of korean cuisine nowadays to even realize to brush up on their act. the last couple of times i really wasn't impressed whereas i used to be consistently pleased every time i dined here, even though they're a bit pricey. i didn't mind paying so much before (for korean food) b/c the food (meaning the meat) was so good&soft. but now i'm not so thrilled about this place. i've started ordering non-bbq dishes from the menu and they're actually turning out to be a lot better than their bbq meats now. i'm hoping they improve...

  • Pros: good selection of bbq meats
  • Cons: place got worse over the years

This place serves the best quality dining experience within the Koreantown area.

The food, needless to say, is marvelous, especially because the beef are very good quality meat.

Must trys: Beef tongue (sliced very thinly, dellicious!), Raw beef appetizer (mixed with chopped pears, giving a sweet taste to the dish, and the dish is iced so it's perfect for summer!), and of course, the Chosun Galbee.

The seafood is decent but if you are at Chosun, it's gotta be about the red meat more than anything

Honestly, I thought after reading the reviews of the restaurant "I'll give it a try". Well, it surprised me by being the single worst dining experience in my life. We got BACON that was about as fresh as the attitude from the staff. Really, this place is awful. The only redeming part of the evening was the soft mints in the lobby. And when I took 2 from the bowl the hostess gave me the stink eye. Its a good thing they have mouth wash in the bathroom cus I had an awful taste in my mouth when I finished.

  • Pros: Easy to find, easy parking
  • Cons: Food, service, value, attitude, quality, taste

Food was okay but service was HORRIBLE! If anyone would like to experience racism, this is the place! If you don't speak the Korean languange the service is substandard and they don't pay any attention to you. The best piece of advice is to grab the plate of meat and cook it yourself, otherwise you may be eating CHAR-sun galbee. Oh and not to forget, it's pricey and parking is bad.

  • Pros: ambience
  • Cons: parking, waitresses, service, wait time, parking, dirty restroom

For anyone looking to get away from the all you can eat cheap meat trends in K-Town, I would recommend Cho Sun. Even when you strip away the cool atmosphere and the beautiful architecture, the quality of meats there is undeniable, which is the most important thing when you go to a BBQ restaurant anyway.

  • Pros: Food
  • Cons: The wait in line, parking

I usually read reviews when I want to go to a particular restuarant, and rarely has it backfired on me! But I must say this was one of the worst choices I had made. You may go there to praise the architecture of the restaurant or the waitresses in ethnic dress, or the "coolness" of the place, but certainly not for food or service. We were dumped with raw onions and mushrooms and meat on a 'barely warm' grill with no directions on how to cook and a bunch of bowls with usual Korean side dishes. Waitresses never returned to check on the meat. I was surprised how they expect everyone who visits there restuarant to know how the Galbi should be prepared. (and more importantly if I have to cook my own food..I can do it at my own kitchen or backyard right?wouldnt pay $30 an entree to do it in Olympic Boulevard) Meet turned out horrible. The soups were the worst beef broths I've ever had! Poor service! They don't even come to fill your glass with water the second time! And to end it go there for some passive smoke! Bad experience all together. wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

  • Pros: Good interior design
  • Cons: Food, Service

I've been to a bunch of Korean BBQ places in the LA area and Cho Sun wins on every front. The food is fresh and the quality of the meat is much better than many other places. The outdoor garden helps prevent the BBQ smell for lingering for days. And the service is usually better than many other Korean places.

  • Pros: Great meat
  • Cons: A little more expensive than other Korean places

Cool decor. Clean environment. Servers cook the food for you on the table in front of you. Food is awesome! Great for groups. Place is loud but fun. Long wait on weekend night if you don't make reservations... or at least it has been every time I've been.

  • Pros: ambience, cleaniness, food, group dining
