Very underwhelmed.

by Seymour13

Very underwhelmed.

Went for an anniversary dinner and will not go back.

Had a reservation on a quiet night, many open tables, waited over 20 minutes, complained and got attitude from the hostess.

No apology for the wait.

Finally, taken to a terrible table and had to insist on another table.

Food was only OK, not worth what they charged.

Left a complaint on their website, no one got back to me.

Never again.

Very Romantic

by KaraYagakinski

I have always wanted my boyfriend to be more romantic. We have been together for four years, and I have given up on the idea. But when I least expected it he took me to this fantastic resturant. The service was great, the food was delicious. I am sure my boyfriend wont take me out to a romantic dinner for a while, so I better enjoy this. GREAT romantic spot.

Inept management

by owencev

So 7 of us went to Tam O'Shanter a couple of weeks ago for a friends birthday party. We didnt have reservations, so we told the lady that we didnt mind waiting at the bar for an hour while they found us a table. After 30 minutes the host came to us and told us that our table was being prepared for us and that she would take us shortly. We went to our table and were served water and bread and before we could order our food. The manger came and told us that "we" and taken the table from another group with reservations and that "we" were at fault and needed to move. I told the manager that it was "their" host that sat us, and it was "their" fault for sitting us. Plus, what kind of manger tells a group of customers that they were wrong? I thought that the customer was always right. He apologized for his rude tone to us and gave us free appetizers and drinks at the bar while we waited. We all went to the bar angry, but hungry and then were seated at a table next to our previous table within 10 minutes. The bill came and what we found was that he was charging us for the drinks and the appetizers that he told us were on them. He then said that he only promised one appetizer to our group and no drinks.

This would have never happened at Lawry's.

Tam O"Shanter ruined my Mother's Day.

by freddy123456

Server: Wyatt L (#195)

What a horrible experience we had today at Tam O?Shanter. When I made the reservation yesterday I asked if I could use my coupons. The woman who took the reservation said ?Sure!?.

When we arrived the restaurant, I showed our server, Wyatt, the coupons and he said that you didn?t accept them today. I told him that I was told when I made the reservations that I could use them. He said ?Well, if they said you could...? So my husband and I ordered dinner.

When we were done, we put our coupon on the tab and Wyatt said ?You can?t use these today?. He had said earlier we could. We would not have ordered had he said that in the first place.

I told the manager what happened, and he said , ?Well, someone made a mistake?. End of story.

The coupon does not specify the ?black out dates? for the coupon. The coupon states ?Not valid on holidays, for special events or with any other offer or discount?. Mother?s day is NOT a legal holiday. That is why I asked when I originally made the reservation.

Tam O?Shanter ruined my Mother?s Day.

Fond Memories Of Good Food And Frienship.

by James696

I am retired in Australia, but thoughout the 80's and early 90's I lived within walking distance of the Tam O'Shanta Inn.It was my home from home, and I visited there several times a week. In my opinion the roast beef was the best in town. Apart from that, the ambience and friendlness I experienced there was truly wonderful. I hope one day to return and relive some of those experiences while I still can.To this day I treasure my 66th aniversary pin.

Over the years I have met many past patrons of the Tam O'Shanta, including the late Mr Charles Brookman of Hong Kong (He was the Speedo Agent),who was a regular visitor in the 1920's,when hamburgers were only a few cents and a good steak under a dollar.

Great memories. James Johnson. Melbourne. Australia.

Mother's Day Fiasco

by bakez

Mother's Day 2007 - One of the worst dining experiences ever; I have never written a restaurant review or complained to restaurant management before this incident. My husband took me to Tam O'Shanter's for Mother's Day with our 2 year old.; we had been to the Tam a few times before and while the food has never been outstanding, we always appreciated the ambiance and beer selection. We had a 1:15PM reservation - we were not seated until 1:45PM. A waitress did not show up at our table until 2:00PM. The menu was not their usual brunch menu, the selections were limited - this was not advertised on the website. The waitress forgot the complimentary champagne until we reminded her three times; the bread didn't show up until 2:30PM and then without the special butter and jams being featured that day. 2:45PM - food still doesn't show up, child is extremely ornery by this time, as are her parents. We ask about the food and the waitress indicates she "going to do us a favor and try and get our order at top of the list." 3:00PM - food shows up - prime rib is raw and instead of sauteed vegetables on his "Toad in the Hole", husband gets raw sliced peppers. I make them take the prime rib off the bill and we complain to the waitress who explains "they are really busy". I complain to manager who gives me sad eyes and a "I'm sorry". No free meal, no coupons, no free drinks. Happy freaking Mother's Day. We are so done with that place.

  • Pros: Good Beer Selection
  • Cons: Everything Else
