Every time I go in to Summit, they've got what I need at a decent price and the help is always friendly. They've done some work on my family bikes when I didn't have time and as a former mechanic checking it later, the work was professional. Everyone living in nearby Westchester/MDR should go there. It's a trustworthy shop. Regarding the first review, I can see how it would happen. As a former bike mechanic who actually *had* to check for english/italian/others in the 80's I promise you most people working in a shop today cannot fathom the notion that such variety existed. I would chalk it up to a bad day at the shop for the mechanic. I know I had them.
Pros: Great selection, Great service, Great prices
Cons: Tough to spot flying along Lincoln Blvd. Tip: park in back!

After reading "FELINE'S" review, i had to go check this place out for myself. My experience was just the opposite. I don't know if this person caught them at the end of a busy day, or just doesn't know good service. I visited this store and found it to have a warm home type feeling, this family treated me very proffesional, and was very friendly. I found there prices to be better than anywhere else. I brought them an old bike to see there response, and to see how much they would try to get out of me. They actually did a few repairs while i waited ( which is rare to find) and didn't charge me, telling me it was no big deal. this bike now works great. I would highly recommend this family bike shop to anyone. This is a must to visit..
Pros: knowledgeable service, free parking, good prices, and free candy and water.
Cons: hard to see from the street

I came in with an English Campagnolo bottom bracket and Record crankset. An hour later, the mech put in the same BB, claiming my BB was Italian. When I came back, I showed the English 1.370 inch marking, which they unexpertly said meant nothing. They said they would have to double charge me, and I would have to pay them overtime. When they finally looked at their own stock, they realized Italian BBs are marked metric 36mm. Then the mech tried putting my English BB in an Italian Ciocc frame, which of course, did not work. Finally, he admitted that he didn't check to see if the cable bracket screw was in the way. He offered to do the work, but I brought the bike to Bicycle John's in Burbank, a way better shop with a much friendly attitude. If you really are into higher end parts or bikes, this is certainly not the place to go to.
Pros: none
Cons: not customer friendly, will not admit they are wrong until you rub it in their face

I'm a avid cyclist, have been riding since '64 off and on, I have always ridden seriouse bikes. one of my supervisors turned my on to Summit, for bikes, parts and service. Prices a very reasonable, friendly atmosphere and they will not hesitate to help or install your parts. Summit is a family owned and run business, from high end bikes to begginer kids bikes. They also sell/Rent Snow Skis and Boards. They do all repairs and refinishing. If you need to fill up your water bottle they have a water cooler on the floor for you. they have any accessory to fill any of your biking needs. including clothing and helmets, shoes and nutritional supplements.

great place for summer gear to include all fishing and camping equipment; try the many assortment of videos for learning the basics of many camping necessities like keeping a fire from going out early.
Pros: selection, price
