Dogs & Rabbits, too
by JW in Hollywood
My dogs have been to 2 other vets in LA, and dragged me to the car whimpering. Dr Jordan is firm-handed but does not make them nervous. They always leave wagging, even after shots and (rear-end) temperatures.
My rabbit lived to a ripe old age of 10 with all his teeth, and actually sat still for him too.
Procedures are explained thoroughly with options, and I'm given all the prices up-front. He's a good resource for any questions, and never rushes me. He schedules "patients" so there isn't a backlog, and spends as much time as you need. They also do pet boarding on the weekend, which is nice when you animals already know the place -- my rescue dogs don't feel abandoned, they get several walks, and they come home happy.
All positive! The difference between a great general practitioner and "managed care" at other places is a no brainer for me.
- Pros: 2 generations of pets love Dr. Jordan!
My cat almost choked to death!
by ksb2
Just got back from a terrible visit to this office. I feel like a horrible parent for bringing my kitties to a place that would traumatize them! Our cats have been to 2 other vets since we've had them and never have they gotten so scared and upset as they do with Dr. Jordan. He immediately puts a leash around their neck, which if you know anything about cats, they hate. So right off the bat, they were scared and fighting him off. Our older one got so upset he was hissing and growling and jumped off the table. Dr. Jordan had his nurse put a 2nd leash around his neck to restrain him which further upset him so he started flailing. It go so bad his claw got stuck on the leash and he was choking himself. I'm not exaggerating, he tongue was sticking out of his mouth and he was gagging! Dr. Jordan was out of the room answering a phone (isn't that his receptionists job) and the nurse did nothing until we demanded she release the leash and my husband got his claw out and freed him. I feel so aweful for subjecting them to this. Will never return. Then to have to pay $122/cat for such horrible treatment doesn't sit well with me. $122 for basic vaccines and a checkup!
When you arrive to an office and are the only people there for an hour and a half, that's a dead giveaway that there's a reason no one else is there.
- Pros: close to home. and that is the only Pro.
- Cons: Everything
A Terrible Experience
by aqz46z
I brought my cat here when she was sick. All the vet wanted to do was clean her teeth, and wanted to put her under anesthesia to do it. He was obsessed with it. He wouldn't even give her a shot without putting her under anesthesia because she was hissing. This cat didn't even have claws! Also there were at least four vet assistants standing around in the room watching the entire thing. It was actually creepy and all I wanted to do was leave. Before I left, I got an estimate for what he wanted to do which was several hundred dollars. I immediately went to another vet where they had no problem giving her a shot and didn't try to force extra expenses on me. I would never trust this vet or his staff.
BEST VET IN L.A.!!
by shollywoodgirl
I have tried 4 vets since I got my little dog in February, and each one has had something wrong with it. Mostly have found uncaring, cold vets... until Dr. Jordan. Simply, the best vet in L.A.! His whole staff was so nice, and compassionate, towards my little dog and I. Being a new dog owner; I have a lot of concerns for my dogs wellbeing, and when he got a little cold rencently; I took him to see Dr. Jordan, and was so thrilled with the results. He was VERY informative on each step he was doing, and took the time to SHOW me how to properly give a dog (liquid medication). I took him in yesterday for an ear infection, and today he is already feeling better. I feel better knowing I found a vet that I trust, and treats us with the compassion my dog and I deserve. THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL, CARING STAFF, AND TO DR. JORDAN!! We will be loyal cumstomers.
- Pros: Very caring, professional and close to my house
- Cons: nothing
Everything you want in a vet
by DreaKiss
In PA my cat went through all the tests and in the end was diagnosed with cancer. I was told what signs to look for to know when it got to bad. Once these signs showed up I took my cat in here in CA. They were very accepting of taking on this new patient and allowing me to send the paperwork from one vet to another so the cat and I wouldn't have to go through more testing. I was a mess from the moment I brought her in the door, knowing what had to be done after 11 years together. I've had cold vets over the years and I was so impressed by the compassion and heart the entire staff showed me. He explained her diagnoses to me in a way I understood. After confirming what I expected to happen, I wasn't rushed when I took a few moments for the news to set in. I've seen a lot of vets man handle animals. They even allowed me to come in on a Saturday so I wouldn't have to do it on a work day. Everyone handled her as I would have. It was extremely comforting. I would recommend this entire staff. I was so impressed. Some wrote they were expensive and I did not feel that way at all.
- Pros: compastionate and caring.
- Cons: None

Dr Edd Jordann and his staff are knowledgable and caring. I have been a client of his since 1972 and have found that they go the extra mile to take care of our beloved animals. I recently had the sad occasion to have my dog euthanized and Dr. Jordann and his Saturday staff extra spent time with me and my aging and ailing pug. It was a really sad visit but it was handled with the usual caring and attention I have come to expect from Dr. Jordann.
Dr. Jordan is the best
by dkstrat
I'm really shocked at the negative reviews I see here. My experience with Dr. Jordan is just the opposite. I had taken my cat to another vet last Spring, and paid a lot of money to be told everything was fine. It wasn't. My cat had developed diabetes and then diabetic neuropathy. He was one sick cat when I brought him to Dr. Jordan. He was so thorough and compassionate, and really took care of my cat in such a loving way. I'd recommend him to anyone. And, by the way, I know his care doesn't come cheap, but he really was half as expensive as the vet I took my cat to before.
- Pros: Really loves animals
- Cons: Somewhat expensive
best vet ever, so nice and helpful
by svetadarling
i don't know why the person below gave this place a bad review. that's bunk. they are very clean and VERY helpful and sweet. dr. jordan is a smart vet who gives you personal attention, which is a lot more than i can say for any other vet i've been to. and my bill wasn't outrageous for shots and deworming - you should expect to pay a lot for a sick pet. come on! this place is awesome, i'll never take my molly anywhere else.
love you dr. jordan!
- Pros: parking in back
- Cons: nothing
My puppy was sedated for a bath without permission
by aprilwinchell
This was a terrible experience for us and for our puppy.
Our puppy was sedated without our being asked. Since they did not ask , they also did not know if the puppy had allergies, or how recently he had eaten - both very important things to know before sedating an animal! And the only reason he was sedated was so he'd be easier to bathe, according to the receptionist, who admitted that she forgot to ask us because she was "new". This was a totally unnecessary risk we never would have agreed to. She then tried to keep the dog overnight (incurring hospitalization fees) for "observation", even though she was the only one on the premises, and "not a doctor". I would strongly suggest you go elsewhere!
- Cons: Doctor not always on premises, untrained staff forgets to ask important questions or get permissions
Very knowledgeable veterinarian

I have taken both of my cats to Dr. Jordan, and I've been very pleased with the care that he has given them. He is more thorough than other vets I've worked with. For example, he checked for corneal abrasions in my cat, Millie (she has chronic conjunctivitis due to a herpes virus that she contracted while she was a stray) and sent us home with an antibiotic (she did, indeed, have abrasions, which he showed me), a dietary supplement to slow the reproduction of the virus, and two eye ointments. He also wanted to see her back in 2 weeks to see how she was responding to the treatment. I took her in with the same problem to a different vet a year ago, and she only gave me an ointment and the supplement and did not schedule a follow up. The problem returned a few weeks later. I believe that Dr. Jordan really knows his stuff, and he's been practicing for nearly forty years. As my story demonstrates, he's very thorough. I also found him to be readily accessible (I called at 7 p.m. and he answered the phone himself and scheduled an appointment for my cat the next morning at 8 a.m.). Most importantly, Dr. Jordan and his assistants were gentle and kind to my cats, even though Millie can be quite grouchy when she goes to the vet. I've noticed that others say he might be more expensive, and I would attribute this to the fact that he is thorough. I did spend more on my cat's eye treatment this time around, but as I indicated, he gave her better care than the other vet, and her eyes are looking much better. I would highly recommend Dr. Jordan!
- Pros: Knowledgeable, kind vet, very accessible
- Cons: Might be more expensive, but the care is better
