I worked an animal hospital that got his patients after seeing him just once. I was in the courtroom when his license was under investigation, which eventually was revoked and, unfortunately, was stayed. Check out the Better Business Bureau for his history. I would never bring an animal to his practice.

WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD

Although it has been a few years since I made the mistake of bringing my puppy to Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital for emergency care, my experience was so terrible that my family and I still regularly discuss it to this day, so I felt I should report it. From the looks of it, I was not alone in my negative experience.

I have never, I repeat, NEVER, had a worse experience in my life. I was helping my daughter move into her new apartment in Laurel Canyon. We had a 3-month old Australian Shepherd puppy at the time, so we took him with us rather than leave him alone all day.

Unfortunately, construction on the apartment had only been completed a few days prior, and we didn't notice all the leftover nails lying around the area. Our puppy stepped on one and sliced his paw. He didn't even yelp, but we saw huge drops of blood covering the floor, so we thought we should be safe and take him in to a vet.

Being new to the area, we looked up the closest vet using the yellow pages. I wish we'd had internet access! Dr. Jordan was the most incompetent man I have ever encountered. He put a MUZZLE on a 3-month old puppy because "you never know what they'll do when they're in pain." I had been poking, prodding and examining the bloody area for at least 20 minutes and our puppy didn't even notice.

He noticed the muzzle though. He went from calm and sweet to absolutely terrified. Just a quick side-note- I have had several dogs, and none of them, including this one (who is now 3 years old) have EVER needed a muzzle, and I've been to at least 10 other vets. At legitimate veterinary establishments, muzzles are reserved for truly aggressive dogs.

His assistants (he need TWO to hold down a 3-month old, 15 pound puppy) clearly had NO training at all... I'm not exaggerating when I say I think he picks them up at day-labor sites. The entire episode was turning into a circus act, so I stepped in an calmed our puppy down. It was unbelievable (my daughter later said it felt like a prank, or some reality show called "Punked.") A total joke.

When inspecting the wound, Dr. Jordan couldn't even figure out what was going on. His eyes are so bad he couldn't even see where the blood was coming from, or that there was a HUGE flap of skin that clearly needed to be trimmed off of the paw pad. When he began bandaging the paw, I interjected and suggested we cut off the flap and put some antiseptic ointment on the area first. With a surprised look, he exclaimed, "Oh, yeah! That would be a good idea."

Even though I did most of the work and the bill was far too high, we just paid and got out of there as fast as possible.

There was one upside to the whole experience- I learned that if I don't feel comfortable in a doctor's office (pet or human), I have the right to leave at any time. I should have left this place right away. Going here was surreal, to say the least.

DO NOT COME HERE.

Great Doctor & Great Employees!

Dr. Jordan took care of my kitty so many times & with so much love & compassion, I am forever grateful.

His staff is sweet, professional, loving & caring.

After years of crappy, high priced, fancy Vets., Dr. Jordan is a down to earth relief!

Do not take your pet here! The worst vet ever!

This man is evil! Do not take your pet here! My poor puppy cried and wimpered as he shoved an instrument down his throat for a regular checkup. He yelled at me for not holding my dog tightly by the throat as he was analy taking his temperature and checking his heartbeat at the same time. My poor puppy was shaking and he's been fine at 3 other vet visit at another vet, reason why I went here was that I got an appt right away and now I see why. This place is awful and he's a weirdo. And my previous negative review was erased! Any positive review must be rigged. Oh and he was ridiculously over priced.

Lovely vet and nurses

I took my cat here after receiving horrible treatment at ADVANCED CRITICAL CARE in Culver City and the Dr Jordan took great care of my cat. He even let it stay an extra day free of charge because he was concerned about my kitty and knew that I had already spent a fortune at ACC. I will always take my pets here for the lovely people that work here...the nurse was so sweet as well, looks like she really adores animals. What a find!

Dogs & Rabbits, too

My dogs have been to 2 other vets in LA, and dragged me to the car whimpering. Dr Jordan is firm-handed but does not make them nervous. They always leave wagging, even after shots and (rear-end) temperatures.

My rabbit lived to a ripe old age of 10 with all his teeth, and actually sat still for him too.

Procedures are explained thoroughly with options, and I'm given all the prices up-front. He's a good resource for any questions, and never rushes me. He schedules "patients" so there isn't a backlog, and spends as much time as you need. They also do pet boarding on the weekend, which is nice when you animals already know the place -- my rescue dogs don't feel abandoned, they get several walks, and they come home happy.

All positive! The difference between a great general practitioner and "managed care" at other places is a no brainer for me.

• Pros: 2 generations of pets love Dr. Jordan!

My cat almost choked to death!

Just got back from a terrible visit to this office. I feel like a horrible parent for bringing my kitties to a place that would traumatize them! Our cats have been to 2 other vets since we've had them and never have they gotten so scared and upset as they do with Dr. Jordan. He immediately puts a leash around their neck, which if you know anything about cats, they hate. So right off the bat, they were scared and fighting him off. Our older one got so upset he was hissing and growling and jumped off the table. Dr. Jordan had his nurse put a 2nd leash around his neck to restrain him which further upset him so he started flailing. It go so bad his claw got stuck on the leash and he was choking himself. I'm not exaggerating, he tongue was sticking out of his mouth and he was gagging! Dr. Jordan was out of the room answering a phone (isn't that his receptionists job) and the nurse did nothing until we demanded she release the leash and my husband got his claw out and freed him. I feel so aweful for subjecting them to this. Will never return. Then to have to pay $122/cat for such horrible treatment doesn't sit well with me. $122 for basic vaccines and a checkup!

When you arrive to an office and are the only people there for an hour and a half, that's a dead giveaway that there's a reason no one else is there.

A Terrible Experience

I brought my cat here when she was sick. All the vet wanted to do was clean her teeth, and wanted to put her under anesthesia to do it. He was obsessed with it. He wouldn't even give her a shot without putting her under anesthesia because she was hissing. This cat didn't even have claws! Also there were at least four vet assistants standing around in the room watching the entire thing. It was actually creepy and all I wanted to do was leave. Before I left, I got an estimate for what he wanted to do which was several hundred dollars. I immediately went to another vet where they had no problem giving her a shot and didn't try to force extra expenses on me. I would never trust this vet or his staff.

BEST VET IN L.A.!!

I have tried 4 vets since I got my little dog in February, and each one has had something wrong with it. Mostly have found uncaring, cold vets... until Dr. Jordan. Simply, the best vet in L.A.! His whole staff was so nice, and compassionate, towards my little dog and I. Being a new dog owner; I have a lot of concerns for my dogs wellbeing, and when he got a little cold rencently; I took him to see Dr. Jordan, and was so thrilled with the results. He was VERY informative on each step he was doing, and took the time to SHOW me how to properly give a dog (liquid medication). I took him in yesterday for an ear infection, and today he is already feeling better. I feel better knowing I found a vet that I trust, and treats us with the compassion my dog and I deserve. THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL, CARING STAFF, AND TO DR. JORDAN!! We will be loyal cumstomers.

Everything you want in a vet

In PA my cat went through all the tests and in the end was diagnosed with cancer. I was told what signs to look for to know when it got to bad. Once these signs showed up I took my cat in here in CA. They were very accepting of taking on this new patient and allowing me to send the paperwork from one vet to another so the cat and I wouldn't have to go through more testing. I was a mess from the moment I brought her in the door, knowing what had to be done after 11 years together. I've had cold vets over the years and I was so impressed by the compassion and heart the entire staff showed me. He explained her diagnoses to me in a way I understood. After confirming what I expected to happen, I wasn't rushed when I took a few moments for the news to set in. I've seen a lot of vets man handle animals. They even allowed me to come in on a Saturday so I wouldn't have to do it on a work day. Everyone handled her as I would have. It was extremely comforting. I would recommend this entire staff. I was so impressed. Some wrote they were expensive and I did not feel that way at all.
