Beyond rude
by Marislain
The food at Mauro's is great, and we have had lunch there many times in the past few years. That said, we will NEVER be going back. We went for an early lunch a few weeks ago, and were shocked by the rudeness and laziness of the staff. After being personally insulted by the hostess, my hungry family and I decided to leave and relocate at another cafe. I don't care how good the food is, I don't need to be abused by disgruntled waitresses during my lunch.

Mauro's Cafe & Ristorante is the NEW ihop in West Hollywood
by JMikhael
It seams that when Evelyn was running the show things we're fantastic NOW with the new management it's RIDICULOUS.
Coming back to visit the restaurant after a couple of years; was an embarrassment since I took friends there. The waiters do not go above and beyond especially for the price you are paying. We ordered wine when we sat down. It took the waitress 19 minutes to bring the wine to the table. (note we went on a monday at 3pm when they only had 4 other tables) The food was a joke. The R. Bolognese is not the same as I used to get there. Very dry with less tomato sauce. The waitress brought our check to the table. 5 minutes later comes back to tell us "I forgot to add items on the check. Ill go re-print it." I'll NEVER be going back there.
- Pros: friendly host
- Cons: bad service, took long for food on a slow day, never check on us, food was very dry not as it used to be
Favorite!

I love this place. Friendliest service in town; hip, cool and great food that is neither too heavy on the stomach or the wallet. Great selection of wines too. We sat next to Cindy Crawfors and Randy Gerber last week which was great for our friends who came from Europe...
- Pros: Free Parking, Great Ambience and food. Friendly service
- Cons: closed for dinner!
Italian food power lunch powwow inside Fred Segal.

In Short
The lunch vibe is loud and chatty at this Italian eatery located inside one of L.A.'s quintessential shopping meccas. The space is bright and the white-draped tables are set close enough that you can actually hear the "E! True Hollywood" conversations come to life. An attractive waitstaff sports the latest designer denim, while the menu is just as decidedly appealing--Italian staples like proscuitto and mozzarella on foccacia, shrimp and spaghetti tossed in olive oil, and chicken marsala are some of the options. A juice bar and cafe in the rear serves fresh fruit smoothies, sandwiches and pastas to go.
Excellent and authentic

Not what you would expect with the shopping crowd, but authentic and unique preparations. Pastas are excellent as are the simple but outstanding salads. Pay particular attention to the specials as they are typically excellent.
Great casual lunch spot

I had lunch at Mauro's on a Sunday. I made a reservation for 5 people, but when we got there they still had us wait around while they tried to figure out where to put us. However, the staff were very nice and accomodating, and despite the fuss, we were seated quickly. The food was excellent, and the noisy but relaxed settting is great for a casual lunch with friends. I loved the pasta, and the panini looked delicious as well. The food was generally lighter than the coma-inducing stuff you get down the street at Dougboys, Toast, Kings Road Cafe, etc. I expected Mauro's to be over-priced (given that it's located in the most ridiculously expensive store on earth), but it's a decent value as well. I definitely recommend this as lunch spot in West Hollywood.
- Pros: Ambience, Food
- Cons: can be very crowded
Authentic & Healthy Italian Food!
by ccg123
Hollywood execs and Hollywood wannabes congregate at Mauro's Cafe, a who's who of LA. Prepare to see and be seen. From Paris to Lindsay to Nicole everyone dines here. All the Hollywood fluff aside, Evelyne Joan, a partner of Mauro's Cafe and the hostess with the eternal smile, greets customers as if they were guests in her own home. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgable and dressed to kill. However, unlike most LA hot spots, the real star at Mauro's Cafe is the FOOD. The menu features a range of healthy salads, cold sandwiches on delicious focaccia bread, sauteed vegetable dishes, and AMAZING pastas. If you go back often (which I do!) try their Specials. They're out of this world. The wine list is also extremely impressive and ask about their daily "cocktail" special. My personal favorite: Prosecco (italian sparkling wine) with lavendar or vanilla syrup. CIAO!
- Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service
