Horrible Customer Service

Contributor

I think the food is ok. Nothing I would say that I must have. But I've experienced just aweful customer service. I called in an order and when I got there an employee whom didn't know about an order told me are you sure you called? Because there wasn't an order with out checking or confirming. I asked him after why he assumed I didn't call before checking w the deli section. In which they did have my order. He pretty much made me feel like I lied and just made me feel like a fool. When I spoke w the manager. He was on a personal phone call on his cell phone. And told me I'm on an important call --- once again made me feel like I was nothing. I personally think people at work shouldn't use cell phones or if you do then take your break and step away from the floor. Needless to say I will never order from there again or visit this restaurant. There are way to many other places I can use my money at.

Staff is HORRIBLE!

by JennyLoveLA

I always order to go and one morning I had the most horrible experience. Staff didn't listen to anything I said, then told me are you sure you called in an order and didn't ever check if it was ready. They we all eating bagels at the cashier register. You know to be honest w as many restaurants LA has to offer I just prefer nice customer service where I don't feel like someone is doing me a favor by speaking to me. The manager was on a personal call using his cell phone. Told he that the call was important -- pretty much saying I wasn't. I have felt this few times before about staff there and just kept coming back. But I really had an ahaaa moment that its really not worth it. The food is just ok !!! Not worth the rudeness!

NY in LA

by warlock62

Reminds me of my days in NYC with real authentic deli tastes. My favorite is the Chicken Parmagian with Garlic Broccoli. Also the desserts are amazing and very affordable.

  • Pros: Great NY style deli food
  • Cons: Small dining area

Good for the Soul

by Kika Davis 2

Have swine flu and the antibiotics and Gatorade just aren't cutting it? Call up your best friend and ask them to pick up a bowl of Greenblatt's matzo ball soup to cure that limpy immune system right up. Take it from this Jew, you wont get any better outside of NYC or my grandmother's kitchen.

Staff Is Terrible! Go to Canter's Delicatessen Instead!!

by jennla2003

Terrible staff!!!

2 different and equally awful experiences being ignored while waiting for service. Atmosphere is cramped (restaurant is very narrow!) so it isn't as though waiting for service is even enjoyable in that setting. Miserable!

Also: Expensive. No fries.

I suggest Canter's nearby on Fairfax - the food is much much better. We also love Factors Deli on Pico, as they are very consistent on staff and food. Factor's has the nicest dining area of all 3 restaurants, very posh for a delicatessen.

Avoid Greenblatt's. Even the wine selection can not make up for the disorganized and snooty staff.

  • Pros: None - the bad service overshadows everything else
  • Cons: Staff, cramped and narrow dining area, and no fries!

learn how not to cook

by RodneyScotland

I actually tried a Greenblatt's corned beef sandwich once and liked it. Problem is, I can't ever get the one I liked again. I don't like hot sandwiches, so I keep asking them if it's possible to get a cold corned beef, and they keep telling me they can't do that. It's pretty easy. Just don't cook it! They serve chicken salad sandwiches. Do the same thing, only replace the chicken salad with corned beef! The fact that they will hold the heat for some people, but not for me, gives me the impression they aren't very concerned about customer sevice.

Good late night Matzah Ball Soup

by KariMcShorty

As a person who makes Matzah ball soup from scratch, I am selective. I find that Jerry's and Canter's serve mushy noodles. Canter's Matzah ball was hard, and had no flavor. Greenblatt's, on the other hand, tasted really homemade. The brisket dip was nice and satisfying too. The place isn't a bargain but it tastes a step up from other delis.

  • Pros: Matzah ball soup, open late
