This store treats you like a sap and charges you more than other comic shops. Parking is hard and its just gotten worse over the years. Run by some weird family that works in-store due to not enough employees
Pros: look
Cons: Price, Service, Parking

I'm new to comics, having just started reading them last month. I've been trying out all the comic book shops in LA, and though they all have their strong points, Golden Apple is my favorite. Aside from a great selection, the new releases are better organized than in any other store I've seen in LA, they have a very good selection of graphic novels and trades (though these could be a bit better organized), a solid selection of back issues, and what looks like a wide range of choice in toys (not being a toy guy, don't take my word for this). It also doesn't have the intimidating atmosphere for a rookie that some other shops have. I think Golden Apple is now "My Comic Book Shop."

Located in the heart of Melrose's boutiques and trendy teen stores, Golden Apple is a bookstore that matches that area's frenetic, ADD-vibe. Inside, you'll see a broad, albeit not always well-organized, array of comics and pop culture goodies to tempt your inner geek. Whether you're looking for a collection of "Uncle Scrooge" comics that you remember from your childhood, Archie comics for your tween niece, manga featuring the anime ninjas you love on Cartoon Network, or the latest X-Men graphic novels, you'll probably find it at Golden Apple. Sometimes the vibe is so heavily fan-boy, it can be hard to get help finding stuff from a staff that sometimes seems annoyed that you're distracting them from reading the latest issue of the Avengers. But, if you love comics, movies or toys, it's worth a visit.
Pros: Good selection, Trendy location, Stuff for all ages
Cons: A little disorganized, Fanboy atmosphere, Parking is scarce

This is the best place in town to pick up all your comics and toys. The staff is always willing to chat and fill you in on things you missed and items that you know you need. Need you go anywhere else? I think not.

I love this place. They always have the most up-to-date infomation on titles, new releases and hard-to-find merchandise. An in-house artist spiffies up those models in the back if you don't like the paint job. The store hosts a ton of events with folks like Neil Gaiman and Kevin Smith stopping in every time they're in town. You never know who you'll see chatting with the staff or just hanging out.
Pros: Stellar Selection, Knowledgeable Staff
Cons: Limited Parking

This place has a large volume of comic books. Unlike some small comic books stores that hide there ish so they can mark it up later. Apple puts out all they get in terms of inventory. I recommend this to anyone who loves comics. The people there are also cool.
Pros: good people, large selection
Cons: pricey back-issues
