No-frills day spa proves serenity comes from quality services--not gurgling fountains.

The Scene
A sunny storefront located on the swanky end of Melrose serves as both an outlet for aromatherapist Michelle Ornstein's botanically based skin care line as well as her stripped-down day spa. The sparse yet tasteful facility consists of a reception area and three treatment rooms. The only touch of fancy comes from ocher-colored flowers imbedded in the floor, which underscore Ornstein's dedication to the healing powers of plants and herbs.
The Services
Enessa may lack plush amenities, but A-list celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon seem willing to forgo fluffy robes for great-looking skin. The Deep Cleanse Facial is a top choice for keeping those famous mugs flaw-free. To ensure glowing results, Ornstein (or one of her trained estheticians) uses the body's own heat instead of harsh steam to open pores and extract impurities. Pair up a facial with a Swedish massage, which also incorporates pressure-point therapy for supreme relaxation.

FACIAL CAUSED SCARRING AND DISCOLORATION
by hater1978 at Citysearch
I had a facial with Luba last May and I am still scarred from it. I had a few blemishes on my neck and she dug at them with some kind of needle, used high frequency, and some other harsh technique. I have to go to a dermatologist and spend $$$ to correct my odd pigmentation. I asked her about the scarring and she insisted that she didn't cause it. even though I had no permanent discoloration before the facial. Now, I am afraid to go to any other facialist in LA. I will wait til I go back to NYC to get anything done. Becareful who you go to here, because I feel like some people claiming to be experienced professionals in their field are phonies, unprofessional and are often careless/thoughtless There are so many new people that come to town and just don't know-like me=I'm from NY. I wish someone would have warned me about this, but I learned the hard way. Do your homework beforehand and get personal referrals even if you have to ask random people. Skinsense is the only good facial place I know of in LA. Good Luck!
- Cons: UNPROFESSIONAL, BAD SERVICE
BEST FACIALS!`
by likesalt at Citysearch
Luba is the best! She does the most thorough, amazing facials I have ever had. I have been going here for years and now my mom and sister go here, too, and love it! My face looks amazing and totally clean and brilliant. I cannot say enough nice things about this spa.
- Pros: amazing facials, sweet staff
- Cons: not next door to my house
A Lovely Experience
by lajedimaster at Citysearch
I came to Enessa with problem skin, acne and trapped hairs due to a very traumatizing threading experience at another facility. The woman who threaded my face was gentle, knowledgeable and extremely professional. The atmosphere is just lovely and the facility is a spa that provides a number of other services, so they understand how to treat the skin before, during and after the treatment. Their prices are slightly higher than at other threading salons, but it is truly worth it.
I would highly recommend this spa for any facial treatment or hair removal. They are great!
- Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, clean, great staff
