Unhappy with service from manager Kevin

by GoGators81

I tried to exchange merchandise at Macy's without a receipt, and after speaking to a friendly sales associate who called the manager, I thought I would be taken care of---more than anything, if an item cannot be returned, I would expect to be told in a kind, professional manner. Instead, I was told by the manager Kevin that "I don't know what you've done to this item or how long you've had it, ma'am", I found this rather accusatory and offensive. Instead of explaining that it was the stores policy and beyond his control, he got a little bit personal with me.

I will agree that the sales ladies are pleasant and easy to talk to---maybe you should make one of them a manager instead, Macys :):):)

  • Pros: Lots of inventory, good deals sometimes
  • Cons: Poorly trained staff, bad customer service

Candace in womens apparel is wonderful!

by BrigitteTols

2 months ago I invested in some 236$ jeans, and ever since they had proven fragile and ripped and needed several alterations- finally, I had enough, and I went back to Macy's, prepared to potentially have a battle on my hands- I wanted a new pair of jeans, and I was a bit heated.

Up to me walked Candace- a smiling, warm sales associate, who I explained my problem to, after which she said "oh honey, that's terrible! I'll do what I can to get you some brand new jeans!", I assumed she was a manager because she knew a lot about all the brands of jeans, and she made it her mission to make sure I was taken care of, and read that I was a bit stressed from the get-go. Candace managed to be quick, informed, and professional- while still being extremely personable and fun.

I've had poor experiences with Macy's before- but this more than makes up for it, and I wish every business I walked into had a staff that worked so hard and were so pleasant!

  • Pros: Great experience this time- in and out quickly
  • Cons: Alterations take weeks, understaffed, slightly inconvenient

From a "Miracle on 34th Street" to malls in the 'burbs, this is middle-class America's own department store.

by Contributor

The Scene
In 1857, R.H. Macy opened his eponymous dry goods store in New York City. The tally of his first day's receipts: $11.06. These days, under the aegis of Federated Department stores, Macy's anchors malls coast to coast, tallying millions in yearly sales.

The Goods
Macy's is every shopper's department store, located along the retail spectrum between Sears and Nordstrom. Crowded displays boast second-tier labels: Lauren and Polo by Ralph Lauren, Reaction by Kenneth Cole, Allen by ABS. The shoe department features many upscale selections: Via Spiga, DKNY and Martinez Valero for the ladies and Cole Haan, Skechers and basic Bass loafers for the fellas. Otherwise, rely on staples: Wamsutta sheets, Royal Velvet towels, Clinique cosmetics, Gold-Toe socks and Carter's for kids.

No plus size clothing in skinny Bev Hills

by angieb55

Everything about this store is good, except this is the only branch of Macys I think I've ever been to ever, with no plus size section. There are bigger people in Bev Hills who are willing to spend their money here - but, they'll have to go elsewhere this time.
