Wonderful spot to celebrate
by ripken00
Great celebrate sighting venue, feel fortunate if u see any celebrities. Had dinner recently on an anniversary celebration and the food was decent but not great. Nicolette Sheridan happened to be there while we were eating and so were the cameras across the street. Parking is not bad if u arrive early enough and can find street parking. Portions are small for the prices charged, but hey you are here for the experience. Was puzzled by all the bad reviews regarding the staff. We found the wait staff to be nothing but extremely warm and gracious and catering to our every need. In fact I thought the wait staff was one of the best reasons to visit the restaurant.
- Pros: wait staff, ambience, and overall experience
- Cons: average food
impressive atmosphere, but food is ok

If you want to go somewhere that is celebrity struck with paparazzi hanging out, then this is the place.
If you are looking for a place with good food, this is not the best pick. The food here is ok.
The other bad side to it is unless you are a “somebody”, people here are a little snotty to the average customer.

Come here to impress your guest!

The Ivy is a landmark. It is also pricey so a place not many of us can go to regularly. That being said the reputation and ambiance make it the ideal restaurant to take a visitor you want to impress. Women love the large salads and men can enjoy the variety of meat and fish dishes. Obviously, patio seating is preferable!
The best!

Amazing food across the board. Outstanding quality. The service could be more attentive and the hostess should loose her arrogant attitude.
The place is pricey but absolutely worth spending the money.

What is Los Angeles without a trip to the IVY.. If you have never been, it's a place to head to lunch so you can see all the celebs who are looking to be seen! The food is very good, especially the Swordfish Taco.. (to die for) . The vibe, exactly what you expect, photographers stationed across the street waiting for a picture - overall a nice place to sit and take in the sights!!
Expensive but fun. Wave at the TMZ buses as they go by.

Great Dinner

First trip to The Ivy, and we we very impressed. We had 7pm reservation, got there a little late, and were seated immediately on the patio. The restaurant was full, but did not have a crowded feel. The Service was quick and friendly the ambiance was perfect, sure there is a little street noise, but that is to be expected when you are sitting on a patio next to the street. The food was excellent. I had the swordfish tacos, they have a little kick and were very good. My wife had pasta and raved at the freshness. Overall a very good experience, in a quaint setting.
Good Neighborhood Place

I'd been going to the Ivey well over a decade but had not gone for several years until a recent visit. I understand why this place gets mixed reviews. Admittedly, it's pricey, sometimes noisy, the service is not consistent and you really have to order the right dishes because some are really quite tasty but others not so much.
We were there at around 4:00 so it wasn't real busy. We had the grilled salad, pasta with lobster and corn chowder. Both the food and service were very good. It was a good experience and I'd definitely go back.
