Always a great place
by redphoenixrising at Citysearch
Always friendly service and good food. (The management needs to tell people to keep their kids from running amok and getting in the way of the waiters and bothering other patrons.)
- Pros: Great food and service
- Cons: Watch out for the Eurotrash
I like it

If you like sweets and a nice place to have a cup of coffee, this is a nice place. Coffee is good, staff is nice. I take my breaks here, a bit expensive but worth the price. I tried the food here, it is good, but a bit expensive for what they serve. I recommend it.
- Pros: Good sweets
- Cons: Expensive food
Great desserts!
by nishigami at Citysearch
I have been searching for a cute cafe with great desserts for years now, and when I went to Michael Richard, I knew I found it! Try the Strawberry cheesecake, it is absolutely amazing. It's not your New York style thick cheesecake, but rather it's almost like a rare mousse cheesecake. The Tarts are also to die for. Especially the pear tart: with the flaky crust, melts in your mouth. The pasteries are great as well. The meals are good, but not excellent, excpet for the pouched egg salmon salad, which is also amazing. A great place to stop by with the girls for tea and cake! Park across the street (a block away) in the structure, since there's no parking around the cafe.
- Pros: great dessert, great service, relaxing
- Cons: a little expensive, no parking
Best fruit tart in LA!
by klava at Citysearch
I used to work a bloack away from Michel Richard and while it isn't my favorite place to have a ful meal, their fruit tarts, especially the rasberry, are unbelievable. Instead of gushy custard the fruit is layers on top of an almond cake base that is out of this world! The tarts come in all sizes from small individual ones to large ones for pick for parties. Not only are they georgeous to look at, but they taste amazing!
- Pros: amazing fruit tarts, quick service
- Cons: tough parking, pricey, ave food

I was just driving by when I noticed this french pattisserie. I stopped off to check it out and found a little gem of a place. The people there were very friendly and amiable, which was surprising for the french, and I was very impressed with the quality of the food and especially the desserts. I highly recommend this little cafe to all.
Usually amazing......

I have been to Michel Richard since it opened. Everything is always perfect, and I order their steak all the time. The waiters are usually amazing and the food is supurb. But a recent, HORRIBLE visit took me by surprise.
I was expecting the usual. We came, and it was busy. When we sat down, a Hispanic waiter that spoke no English did NOT ask us for drinks and did NOT give us bread. Furthermore, my knife was filthy and when I called the waiter, he never came back. I had to get up and go to the front where a lady screamed about horrible service. I got a new knife, and had to ask someone 15minutes later to take our order. The hispanic waiter disappeared. Finally, the owner came out amd took our orders. Its a shame that this happened b/c it used to be my fav restaurant.
- Pros: good food, good parking, good crowd
- Cons: service is horrible!, slow, crowded
MIXED FEELING

Some good pastries but the staff's attitude is not what you expect in this type of high prices products outlet. Not what it used to be years ago.
- Pros: SOME GOOD PASTRIES
- Cons: STAFF ATTITUDE
Sinful sweets from a traditional French pastry shop.
by Contributor at Citysearch
The Scene
This classic French pastry shop was originally owned by celebrated chef Michel Richard, who went on to open Citrus. Under new ownership for more than a decade, the quaint storefront still dishes out the same tempting treats. A steady stream of customers pick up cakes to go, while others linger at the sidewalk tables, munching on croissants and espresso.
The Food
A short list makes up the lunch menu, with dishes such as quiche Lorraine and salade nicoise. But with dozens of sweet and savory pastries behind the glass counter, it would be remiss not to indulge in the sinful sweets. Chocolates, like the Opera (layers of coffee cream, espresso and chocolate), and the Mado (layers of praline, chocolate-vanilla cream and hazelnuts), are only for those with a serious sweet tooth. The miniature fruit tarts are exquisite--the lemon is sweet-sour and the pear is barely sweet and luscious.
croissant
by sultana at Citysearch
"the best croissant in town!!! .."according to the los angeles times... and it's true. Quality & choice in their fine pastries are probably unmatched in LA.
Restaurant food is also excellent for the price. Try
the "Onglet steak with schallots sauce".
