Great Vegetarian options, great service
by lucyg34
Low key place where you can have fun people watching and catch up on the latest dirt with all the magazines.... Parking can be a pain if you don't know to go underneath and valet... the artichoke is amazing and so are the buffalo wings!! I am a vegan and I never get sick of them. The service is great.... Seems like a fun place to work . everytime I go I seem to have a waitress or waiter with a great sense of humor... I usually bring people from out of town here when they visit,.... I live a few block s away and I consider it my home away from home... It's a good feeling when you go somewhere and people remember you, where you feel like a regular... " like everybody knows your name".
Anyway, it's a great place... Just find parking underneath or get lucky at a meter!!
- Pros: great friendly service, great veggie options, yummy drinks and cocktails
- Cons: parking, smoothies sometimes take a long time
Healthy Options That Taste Good
by Michael Fran
The food is great and the healthy options are everywhere. Can't go wrong ordering from the sandwich menu -- the veggie burger and the turkey sando are good. The chinese chicken soup -- not salad -- is really good. And the juice/coffee bar is great. Servers sometimes take 20 minutes between table visits and unfortunately parking on Robertson is a nightmare. Don't trip running here, but when you wind up in the restaurant, you'll definitely enjoy it.
- Pros: Juice Bar, Sandwiches, Chinese Chicken Soup
- Cons: Servers, Parking
Healthy choices
by TomCal
They have a great menu with lots of fairly healthy stuff to choose from. Now, I could honestly do without watching CNN while trying to digest my food - but then again it's the "Newsroom" Cafe, right?

Great place for a Healthy Lunch
by lizhawk73
The Newsroom is a great restaurant for those looking to eat healthy food. They have a Newsstand full of all kinds of magazines you can read while you wait for a table. There are many celebrities there and The Ivy is right across the street so you will always see a famous person. The food and atmosphere were amazing! I just wish it didn't take so long for a table!
- Pros: Burgers, Atmosphere, Newspapers/Magazines
- Cons: Long wait for a table
Great Veggie Burger
by liltamby5
When I ate here I had the veggie burger and it was excellent. The special cilantro mayo pulled the burger together and the veggie chips were delicious...dipped with the mayo!
GREAT Food, SUPERB Customer Service, EXCELLENT Veggie Burger
by SanjayKucheria
One of the best places for food, service AND ambience. And celebrity-spotting if that's something you enjoy. Staff is very friendly, the cuisine is Californian (I guess). For a vegetarian like myself, this place is a godsend. The veggie burger is simply delicious. My wife and kids love Newsroom.
- Pros: Ambience, Service, Food
- Cons: Off-street Parking (plenty in the underground garage)
Good times!
by Foodfan04
I love this place. Friday night's with Josh tending bar are great. It's not the kind of place where you go for a romantic dinner or anything other than casual, but the food is good and Josh is great at the bar. My wife absolutely loves him, so much that I may start to worry if she asks to go too often. I usually sit at the bar or do business on my laptop . I definitely recommend this place.
Exceptionally Delicious
by nettik
This place is in the center of hussle and bustle. So yes, parking and traffic will be some what of an issue here. But, if you want some good healthy food, then I have found few I could really recommend. The only thing that could make this place better is more delightful workers. If you are used to a country-style homelyness than this place might turn you off, but if your used to the LA vibe of where everybody is in a hurry and just trying to get through the day then you will be good here. It was delicious and had reasonable servings for the price. The biggest bonus at this restaurant is that you can get REAL freshly juiced... juice. Again, for a reasonable price too. I would go back and I would recommend this place to my friends.
- Pros: Health food, promptness, taste, juice
- Cons: Parking, traffic
Great smoothies !!
by ratzzz
My hubby and myself and two kids often frequent this restaurant. It's kinda three things all rolled into one...a coffee house, a magazine stand and then the sit down restaurant. The atmosphere is very casual, very casual patrons...jeans,flip flops t shirts, etc. This place is pretty dang healthy, so if your looking for greasy, fattening food ( ya know the good stuff ) Ha Ha, then this place isn't for you. Even though we're not healthy eaters( yes,I admit it ), we still like this place. The drink menu is great, wonderful fruit and veggie drinks, and they have a great mint ice tea. The Veggie burger is great, as are a few other sandwiches. The best appetizer is the Hummus, it comes with great pita bread and some grilled veggies !!! Our kids like the quesadillas. Honestly though , we like to come here and get the smoothies and hummus in the midday rather than getting a full meal. The servers are always pleasant and the place is always clean. The bathrooms are clean, but for some reason the trash can in the ladies bathroom is always overflowing !!! like everytime we go. So do try this place. As for the prices..it can get pricey, especially when the smoothies average four bucks or so, and we always finish and want another one, I can't remember the exact prices of everything, but for a family of four, I wouldn't say it's cheap, but there's not too many places that are anymore I guess.
- Pros: Great service, clean restaurant, casual come as you are
- Cons: no cons
Pretty good roasted artichoke
by marpop
Food here isn't outrageously fantastic, but for what it is -- a casual, bustling lunch spot -- it gets the job done. The fire-roasted artichoke (which the waiters will tell you is 'amazing') is pretty good, but not amazing. (The best I've had is at Pace in Laurel Canyon.) There's a long magazine stand inside the main restaurant, so if you're alone and want to read a mag while you eat, it's convenient. I'd pass on most of the desserts, but the salads are ok.
- Pros: casual, fairly fast service
- Cons: parking i guess
