Great Spanish tapas and ambience

La Paella is probably the only place in L.A. where you can get authentic Spanish tapas. I especially love the sauteed mushrooms, grilled shrimp, and clams in white wine sauce. The restaurant is cozy and romantic, and the owner is always friendly. Great place for a date and also good for groups.
- Pros: Authentic tapas, cozy, fun
- Cons: Crowded
Exactly like stepping into a taverna in Madrid

I went here a few years back. We were going to go to the Ivy nearby on a Friday night- however, we decided to go here since it was a little hole in the wall, literally. We lived in Spain for a few months and are part Spanish so I was anxious to try some authentic Spanish food in LA- unlike a few other restaurants who say serve Spanish but its not really Spanish. Best tapas- the tortilla espanola, jamon serrano tasted just like in Spain. Best Part: REAL SPANISH BEER. They had Alhambra, but not Mahou which was a bummer- Mahou is the best beer in the world : ) Definitely will go there again and highly recommended. The owner was there and was super nice to us, maybe because we spoke Spanish. It was pretty busy but the service was fast and the ambience was just like being in Madrid again.
The best Spanish restaurant in town

I don't think that Mr. foodcritic711 has been at LA Paella at all, he or she only want to criticize that place. Anybody that has been at LA Paella knows that this guy is not talking about the same place or he/she is lying. Just reading the two first sentences it's a prove that he has never been there because it's obvious that it's not true. Parking has never been a problem and the space between tables is more than we are use to see in the majority of restaurants, at least you don't have to listen the conversation of others. The food is excelent ,the service fantastic and the owner is the best host in town
Stay away from this place

The place was horrible. There's barely any room to move around (very tight quarters). It was very hard to find parking. The portions are very small, the dishes are nothing special, and I still was hungry after leaving the place. Owner and waiters kept on coming by and trying to sell wine. The waiter kept on mooching for a bigger tip after 15% was given. Stay away from this place. It's a waste of time, money, and food.
- Pros: Can't think of any
- Cons: BAD FOOD, BAD SERVICE, ANNOYING WAITERS AND OWNER, NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN
Exquisite, cozy, and friendly owner!

I went to La Palle for a first date. I was so touched by the ambiance of this place. It was so cozy and heartwarm felt. As my date would describe it to me, it was like stepping into your grandmother's home. It was exactely like that. It was so dreamy and the setting was very intimate and romantic. The ambiance was quiet. Food..FANTASTIC. Highly recommended. Every single thing on that menu is to die for. And what is La Paelle known for....Paella. It was perfectly cooked. Tastes just combined musically in your mouth lol. I have been to Spain and this Paella was great or can even be classified as even better than the Paella that I tried in Europe. Recommend it over and over and over again. Owner greeted us, like we have been going there for years. The staff was attentitive but never aggressive.
Great for a Dinner Party at Home

We were having a dinner party for 12 on 1/26/08 and Paella went great with the theme. We've passed by La Paella a million times thinking, I would like to try that place. After checking citysearch and seeing it had 5 stars we thought it would be the place to go. However we wanted to check it out ourselves before so we went down to grab dinner on a Saturday night. Not recommended without reservations. There was an 1hr an a half wait. So for the party we just decided to chance it. It was the right decision. My roommate was able to pick the Paella up in a pan it stayed warm for an hour and the presentation of the food to our friends was awesome. It was a bit of a chore to convience them to let us take the pan but well worth it. Our friends loved it. The test was the taste. It was Delicious! We had the seafood Paella and even those that didn't like seafood ate the Paella. It was around $20 per person and it was well worth it. We were able to impress all of our friends and that was worth it.
- Pros: Great for a dinner party
- Cons: Getting them to let you take the Paella Pan
Great ambience, cozy, great food

Went there today to treat out my boyfriends older sister and her fiance...it was a lovely dinner. Be aware that they do use a lot of garlic in their dishes..but about 4-5 tapas and a paella plate for 2 was enough food to feed a party of 4. Great food, fast service...I would go back there. Try dipping the bread in the sauces from the tapa plates..mmMmmM
- Pros: Small plates are delicious,
- Cons: Don't think they have valet, lots n' lots of garlic

And - as far as quality of food - I am VERY pleased with the freshness, tenderness, and very good quality (all natural products!)
So, La Paella - is one of the best restaurants I've ever visited!
- Pros: Everything is great!!
- Cons: No cons.

I loved this restaurant for a few reasons. i love that is small and intimate, yet very elegant. The inside reminds me of an old spanish lady's house in spain. The service was A+ .....My partner and i ordered a pitcher of sangria and our server was there to refil our glasses for us with perfect timing!!! i love that. The food was amazing. We got the patatas which are spicy potatoes and the vegetarian paella, both werevery delicious. I can't wait to go back!
Felt like I was back in Espa?ya

Being a foodie and having lived in Barcelona and Sevilla I was a bit skeptical of what I might find at a "Spanish" restaurant in Los Angeles, but I am beyond happy that I went to find out. From the moment I walked in I felt as though I was walking into a restaurant back in Spain. Everything I tasted was so true to how it would have tasted and been served in Espa?ya I was delighted. I loved the patatas bravas (my absolute favorite), the gambas a la plancha, the manchengo cheese, the tortilla espa?ola and the crema catalana (which no other restaurant in Los Angeles that I know of serves) was divine!!! I didn't get to taste the paella, but will when I return, because I will be back as often as possible. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
- Pros: Tasty and really affordable tapas
